Thank you for the video! Short and to the point. It took me a few minutes before I realized I had to push down on the black plastic tab instead of the red slide lock to get the connection apart. That's mostly on me. Thanks again. BIG HELP!
That tip about removing the socket at 2:45 was the exact thing I was searching for. Thank you for explaining that. Additionally, I thought it was clever, the way you made it a point to enter the video frame from one side and exit the other. You clearly put thought and effort into creating this video.
Thank you ChicFix. Trying to figure out the wire disconnect procedure was more difficult because the connection was frozen and wasn't coming apart . Your clip on that process confirmed what i had assumed about the disconnect steps. So, I sprayed a little silicone lube on the connection and it eventually came apart, This also made reconnecting the new part easy as well.
Thank you so much, this was such a lifesaver! I was able to get all the way to the unplugging part alone and while I was able to get the red part up I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to actually get it out.
Could have spent $400+ at the dealership to replace/repair, but ended up buying a new one for $89 and it took all but 5 mins after watching your video. Thanks! p.s. be VERY careful with the unit because the colored plastic is brittle as heck. Don’t drop it, don’t press it hard against the body.. it will chip/crack.

I have a 2012 caravan and the dealer wanted $500 CDN plus tax for a new light assembly (installed *sarcasm*). I picked one up from Amazon for $150 all in. Thanks for the video, that damn plug had me stumped! The tip about pressing the tab after you slide the lock down was what I needed, it slid out right away after that. When unplugging it is the toughest part of the job....

I did the same thing from rock auto. Only mine would not plug-in to the rock auto one because of the rubber gasket that was in the way. I will have a video out in a couple of days to show you what I’m talking about.

The timer was accurate for the entire process, though admittedly I did not film close-ups of the entire thing. I have learned quite a lot in the five years since I filmed this video. At the time, my purpose was to encourage women to get over their fear of doing repairs like this. As such, I did not focus on the specifics, a fact which has apparently annoyed you. The channel has evolved drastically since then; more recent videos are far more thorough and complete, but remain free to viewers such as yourself.
@@ChickFixUSA What do you mean remain free to viewers such as myself? I have 3400 videos on RUclips, and nobody has ever been charged a penny to watch them. And if the women, as you say were to run into the trouble I did they would never attempt to fix anything themselves. Just saying you should’ve showed the public what actually happened. Never funny up a video. I have seen other videos where they cut out parts that caused major problems, extra expenses at the shop when I did take it in, and six hours of fiddle farting around not knowing that I could not get it done because I had watched a video where they did it. but they cut out the troublesome parts. Which makes it, a phony video.

It was easy to replace, but it won't work when plugged in. Replaced rear passenger side. Spent $105 at A1Auto. Good light, good price and service. I get a very rapid signal blinker light on the dash for a few seconds, then nothing. When depressing brake pedal or turning lights on, the entire light doesn't work from the exterior. Dealership says light is an LED. Have finally found OEM, but doesn't show up on any website to order. What's wrong with replacement??
We have the same issue. We cannot get the new one to "fully engage" and lock into place. Thus, the light does not work. We can't figure out what is wrong and don't want to FORCE the connection together in fear we may mess up the wiring.
I purchased this from my dealership, but I imagine you could order it off of an auto parts website or Amazon. Just make sure you get the right one for your model
This was the first time I'd ever done this, so of course it took longer. And this was several years ago now, so I don't remember exactly what the bolt size was. Probably 10 mm though, since that seems to be the most common.

A 10 mm socket is needed to remove the bolts

Not clear where you press after sliding the red tab. We couldn't detach no matter where we push and pulling with pliers.
I just got quoted 489.00 just for the assembly kit and not including labor !!
Lol should take you 2 min next time and are they 10mm bolts holding it in or 8am?
