Wahoo is found throughout the world’s tropical and sub-tropical waters. Wahoo spawns seasonally in the sub-tropics and year-round in tropical waters. This reproductive behavior, coupled with the fact that it matures early and can produce half a million to 45 million eggs, makes wahoo naturally resilient to fishing pressure. Their maximum age remains a mystery, though they are known to live at least five years. Days like this are very rare and seem magical when happening. I, for one, love fishing and respect conservation. However, there is no better feeling than having a day like this and providing all of your friends, family, coworkers, neighbors and their families with fresh wahoo filets. I always get asked for filets when I fish and typically don't have enough to feed 20 other people (after splitting with the guys I fish with). The marlin looked healthy kicking by the boat before photo. I heard the urgency in your voice getting a photo quickly so that it could get back in the wate
It's strange to see how the life is taken away of this beautiful creatures while this beautiful music is playing at the same time. Has something really sad... Just think about the pain that this fish has in the moment and how it's presented in this video.
That was a sick video, excellent fishing, editing, music fitted in nicely. I was just wondering, was catching and keeping that many wahoo necessary? I don't mean to jump to conclusions or anything. I was just thinking about limiting your kill and not killing your limit.
Excellent filming skills! Everything worked together very fluidly. You are a top notch RUclips editor! Also, fantastic job telling this exciting narrative. I do hope you fed a lot of people with all of the ones you kept. If not, kind of makes me less excited about your high quality video.
That is absolutely devestating the amount of wahoos you caught and kept and we wonder why the population is going down so quickly you do it for the meat not the fight not the fish itself me and my dad just went to key west on are 4th private charter just to catch me my first wahoo and It was the best day ever to think you kill this many makes me want to throw up
Uhhh yea of course not bc you can’t catch that many. Any actual fisherman would definitely keep that many. You don’t leave biting fish until you have your limit. Not to mention by the time you pay for the boat, tackle, taxes, insurance, fuel, maintenance, etc… you are wasting a lot of money to drive to the Bahamas and catch two wahoo and come home! 😂
I DO SEE it is not like the commercial netters raping the ocean AND I also see it is not really what most of us think as "sport" fishing. The boat does not even slow down. I don't "have a problem" with it. Just wish they could cut the engine and fish with maybe 40 pound class gear, steel leaders and have a good fight, instead of basically roping them in while the boat keeps going. Not as much fun--is that ok to say?
I agree... That looks so. Boring. I caught a 100 pound tuna in Mexico they cut the engine and let me fight it. It took 40 minutes in between barfing due to crazy swells.
AND, you fought the fish--all by yourself. I have had some serious ass chewing by many people of late, because I have suggested people should fight their own fish--and not "hand off" to 2, 3, or more people during the fight. A lot of people don't agree that doing it yourself is "sporting" while handing off, is not. Of course, one thing that is NOT debatable is that the IGFA (international game fish associaion) will not recognize any kind of record for any fish if they find the angler handed off during the fight. A few other rules too: one, you can't let the rod touch the rail, and two, you must submit a piece of the fishing line so they can test it.
love offshore fishing but my goodness way overkill and yes electric reels? is this commercial fishing ? try a bit of conservation leave some for another day...
I'm sure you guys love the ocean and fishing, but you have to be conscientious about fishing. You've taken a large amount of wahoos (count to 21) which is even beyond the limit. Please respect the ocean and all the creatures in it.
@@MisterQueue67 If we all think like you, we will never get anywhere... You're basically saying because they might not all be doing it, private, unlicensed people should be doing it... real clever.
Sure glad I fish wahoo from San Diego long range vessels. Four anglers troll and the vessel slides to a stop to land troll hooked fish. You and wahoo one on one. You crank fast to keep your fish hooked. Sure you lose a few but that’s fishing. Once the vessel stops that’s when the real fun begins. Tossing iron or live bait with 30-50 lb gear. Following the wahoo up the rail. Working with other anglers on the rail. You can keep your high speed trolling for wahoo. And you wonder why wahoo fishing is usually poor. Try keeping a few and not everything that hits the lure.
cut the engines, fight the fish. this shit takes all the fun out of fishing. got a 40 punder wahoo off of the taganga bay in Colombia on a panga style boat with a 40 yamaha engine with a nasty sea. now that's fishing.
The rules in the Bahamas are each foreign VESSEL (not each person, each BOAT) is allowed to have on board no more than 20 POUNDS of fish on board. So several of the commenters are correct, this is not a video about fishing, it is a video about POACHING! If the world was a fair place the next time these rich idiots tried to check in to the Bahamas they would be arrested and have their boat seized. Also great teaching the kid how the rules only matter for those "other people". It's sad really. The first shot brags about how they spent $5000 on gas. I guess they figure that entitles them to kill fish that I think still works out to something like $50 a pound.
The incidence of billfish death goes up exponentially when you pull them out of the water for photographic purposes. Keep them in the water. Nice harvest of wahoo.
are you guys commercial fisherman?! No fun seeing every Wahoo caught gaffed and on the dock......Wahoo are amazing fish...would be nice to get some GIANT fish back in the system
Snipzz 2428 It's one thing to catch and eat Wahoo, but the Marlin should have been released, and if it too was caught on an electric reel..... hardly what I would call sport fishing.

I have been looking for fresh wahoo at my local and out of state fish stores for months on the east coast.....Now I can see why I still haven't been able to find anyone that has it.....
Agree that is not exactly what I would call SPORT fishing, but wahoo sure is good eating and you can bet that not an ounce of that delicious fillet will go to waste...
Ken Riehl I hope your right but I doubt it. You really expect them to eat it for dinner every night which would take them quite a long time I doubt it. Seeing a lot of these type of people going to the Bahamas and bring it back all these fish usually 30% of it gets eaten at best. They have 21 wahoo ranging from anywhere from 20 to 60 something pounds they probably had a good 700 lb of Wahoo at least. That's over 2 months worth of meat if they ate 10 pounds a day
Andrew Munro there’s plenty there where they went that migrate through in the winter. Unlike most places, the Bahamas is a spot in the world where you can catch numbers of fish like that and have zero impact on population.
I enjoy going fishing. To me a lot of the fun is playing a big fish. I don't understand how using an electric reel is enjoyable, especially when you've paid loads of money for the boat etc.
I am just back from a fishing trip to whahoos in Malaysia, jigging all day whith hand rods and relaesing all fishes except one each. What is on this video is not sport fishing. Are you selling the fish to reimburse the gazoline?
First of all I have to agree with MOST of the posters here. There was no need to keep that many Wahoo, and I sure as hell hope that Marlin survived but since I saw no evidence of it swimming away I can only assume it didn't make it due to the "importance" of the photo op. Now for the "fishing." Pressing a button on an electric reel sitting in a rod holder is hardly sport fishing so those cheering trip of a life time obviously have little clue. I lived 5 years in the Bahamas, caught plenty of fish including a 2nd place for a 448 lb Blue Marlin. You want to sport fish, find another boat and captain; one that either has a fighting chair, or stand-up rods and fuck those electric reels unless your just going to grab a few for dinner, especially deep drops. This vidio should be called, gaffing 101, there certainly wasn't any real fishing in the video.
Way too many fish to keep. I am avid fisherman and going to Bahamas is 2 weeks. I have no problem with beautiful day on the water fishing with family and friends but way too many wahoo kept. This video made me sick as a fisherman. not to mention the electric reels while sport fishing...come on
Exactly my thoughts. These kind of people are the reason so many fisheries are getting depleted. And if they were day fishing for swords, I’d understand the electric reel but for wahoo?? C’mon.
Nice work fellas, we are crossing over this weekend to get on them. Hope to get a good vid, saw you use the Canon 70D, great camera, I use the same one.

Fill the tanks, troll the lures and just sit to wait for a fish which is by no means strong enough to test the gear. No drag used, no chance for the fish to win ,not a real fight. Sorry guys but this not fishing.
