- This is a 1CC Playthrough of Primal Rage Version 1.7 with Talon. I have decided to play Version 1.7 as there aren't many playthroughs of Version 1.7 on RUclips currently. I hope you enjoy this 1CC playthrough on Difficulty 16 with Talon!
Version 1.7 is strict when it comes to performing specials and MAME not emulating the protection properly can also be causing issues with Specials as well, therefore you will notice I sometimes stand still for some time, this is because I was inputting a special that didn't come out. Version 1.7 also has a glitch that if you gain 100% health in the Eat mini game you only have 1 life bar therefore I will try to get as close to 100% as possible without reaching it.
Talon in Version 1.7 is quite different from the Talon found in Version 2.3, this version of Talon actually hits harder then he does in Version 2.3 overall. His normals are a lot slower here then they are in Version 2.3, so you cannot chain his moves like in Version 2.3 without accidentally dropping the combo, however he is still the fastest out of the entire cast. His damage is also insanely high for a fast character, he can actually drain the opponents health really quickly, with 7 hit combos doing just over 50% damage. His Slasher also cannot connect with a normal like in Version 2.3 due to the slowness on the recovery after the move has been performed, instead you must use another special after using Slasher in order to have it actually connect into the combo, otherwise, if you try to use a normal you will most likely drop the combo. Talon can use his run special to his advantage in this version, such as attacking using a crouching High Quick twice you can cancel into a run before the opponent leaves hit stun allowing you to gain distance from the opponent when attacking up close. Talon's best opener is a high jump towards the opponent and attacking with Low Power when the opponent is busy performing a move, such as a projectile. This allows Talon to connect an air hit and go straight into a combo when he lands that can do massive damage. Of the two finishers he has, Talon's Shredder is also completely different in Version 1.7 compared to Version 2.3, instead of having a mangled up corpse at the end his opponent just falls over and dies. This is due to the fact that the mangled up sprites just don't exist in Version 1.7.
Talon is a fantastic character to play as in Version 1.7 although he can be a bit hard to get used to (just like in Version 2.3) especially due to his high damage and being the fastest of all the characters. Talon in Version 1.7 can be incredibly deadly especially when being used by a player that understands how to use him in this version. However, if you are used to Talon in Version 2.3, this Talon is completely jarring and may not be to your liking compared to how he plays in Version 2.3 and may not be able to play as him as effectively, so if you know how to play as Talon in Version 2.3 I would say Talon in Version 1.7 will be a lot harder since, as explained, he plays completely different from his Version 2.3 counterpart.

Is there a perfect version to play this game on MAME?
Not for MAME, but someone made a dedicated emulator to play this with all the fixes like red blood etc.
