- Having only a tiny budget, I refurbished my garage using some Duramat flooring and a crapload of paint! Ultimately meant as a detailing garage, this is what's achievable with just a few hundred of your pounds!
#detailinggarage #detailing #garageflooring
Nice Job, way to stick with it in terms of the work and your budget. Having your daughter help is a great lesson and if will be a nice memory for the two of you.
Excellent job, although not chasing your Mrs around the garage to the theme of Benny Hill definitely a missed opportunity.
Flooring looks great. Never seen any that slots together like that before.
Great job the grey really tidies it up and makes it look new.
1:22 tradesman moment!
Tips for anyone painting their breeze blocks (Just done mine!)
- Brush them off first to get rid of dust and lose crap
- Use a 12 inch deep masonry roller with an extendable pole (amazon sell them)
- Get a big wheel brush to use after rolling to push the paint into all the "pores".
- You'll need way more paint than you think (Homebase sell 10L of Pure white in silk for £12, look in the trade focussed paint section.)
Do you need any particular type of paint for cinder / breeze blocks? I’m going to be doing a similar job in my garage soon.
So... Those were lights, yes. But I'm not quite sure about the "all that". May have to get the manual and check that out.... Nice upgrade!
Good job. What size is the garage ?
How is the Duramat surface after 4 years; would you still recommend please?
Hi what size is your garage overall ? Looks well finished, a logo will finish it off
Another recommendation for the Duramat floor tiles. I've laid 30 sq metres in my garage recently and they really transform the garage.
Hey where did you get these from??
1 year on, how is the floor holding up? I want to do a similar garage makeover (though I do work on bikes and cars in there, so probably make more of a mess). Thanks
Proper *cackle* at the painter's crack :-D
Where is flooring from and paint please looks very good
Nice job, Andy. Done at the correct rate of pay, too. The only things missing were the mugs of tea! That door is crying out for a lick of matching paint. Go on; be a rebel. Splash out on it! 👍
Looks great man. Gunna steal the color scheme
what's the name of the paint you use and what's the name of the color?
Nice job, congratulations.
Ha Ha. When you looked under the bonnet, I had a flash back to your early LEAF video where you said, if it's got two orange cables then it has a 6.6kW charger! 😃
That duramat makes a fine home gym floor.
How’s the floor holding up 3 years later?
Nice flooring, how will it stand up to water in the joints when cleaning the cars?
had the same thought
I won’t be cleaning the cars inside the garage in terms of washing. The machine polishing/details would be done inside.
nice vid, now the thief will move the mini and steal the floor!
almost same dimensions space avail at home, can you update your garage setup? maybe youve fund a nice arrange to follow.
What is the material used as flooring
Is there going to be more to this garage upgrade - lighting for example, looks a bit dark in there for detailing - especially in the shadows down the sides of the car.
I've just done the lighting in mine - I've got 4 1.2m high CRI LED panels (bit like tube replacements) to cover the middle, then also a line of them around the perimiter to avoid shadow down the sides of the car caused by the lights in the middle (also avoids shadows caused by the bonnet when working on the engines). Be interesting to see how other people do it.
Budget would not allow me to do this, at least for now. I'd typically use a dual LED light setup on a stand that moves around the car with me when doing details of that depth.
Nice job! Looks really good..
Looks well. Would def get that other door painted as my OCD would be going off like mad with 2 different coloured doors.
Put a link in the description for the flooring!
I'm sure you can google Duramat.
@@ElectricVehicleMan I can and did. That stuff looks great. I very much would like to do that for my garage. I have concerns, however, because I live in a snowy area that uses grit (not salt) on the roads in the winter. By the end of each winter, I have dirt and schmutz all over my garage floor that must be power-washed out for a clean floor. Dang it.
10 year guarantee. Not worried in the slightest. Plus it comes up as easily as it went down.
Nice job. But can’t imagine doing that with brush. The flooring looks fantastic.
Was this paint just emulsion or masonry paint?
Good job mate.Where did you buy your flooring from?
Duramat.co.uk
Great job and so achievable on an everyday budget. Personally I would consider painting the logo's of all the cars you (and the missus) have owned on the inside of the garage door. It would make an awesome memory wall
And yes please paint the EVM logo on the back wall
1:23 and the MOON is shining 😂 bright!
Would the Model 3 even fit in? It looks a bit short.
Octavia Estate easily does.
How is the floor holding up??
Why did you need an expansion gap around the perimeter, if the tiles are PVC plastic, surely they don't expand for seasonal temperature or moisture change?
Of course PVC expands.
Nice one, Must be a first as never before seen a garage refurbishment ! is there a television series here.. Part one always make sure you have a paint roller.... Part two always make sure you use a supplier who has sufficient stock for paint on the right colour of course... joking aside well done great video...
Great job, love the floor tiles. Quick questions on the lights, can you please provide details which ones you used and where you sourced them from? I'm after some LED tubes but not sure which colour rating to go for.
Hi great video. What size is your garage?
Curious of the dimensions of your garage. I’m in the process of planning to build my own set up for a future business venture
Looks really smart!
What's the purpose of the floor tiles.?
Same as a carpet.
What's the name of the gray?
Really good garage makeover. The only thing i think you are going to need to change, is the lighting, if you want to clean and detail car(s) like you say, you will need much better lighting.
Can you use a trolley jack on that flooring? Cheers
Yes
when you wash the car, the water can pass through the interlocking of the floor pannels?
I don’t wash the car in the garage.
1:22 'you cracked me up' :D
Have a link to the flooring?
All in the vid!
Duramat.co.uk
What’s the floor called......Mavis’s?
Huh?
Great Video! How do you control moisture problems under the floor matting?
Grow rhubarb.
Am I right in thinking that Tesla pumps are for Tesla users only?
I notice that Ecotricity pumps are used by CHAdeMO car users.
I have seen a Tesla using a CHAdeMO adapter at a Ecotricity pump.
Can CHAdeMO users use Tesla pumps?
What is the status here?
Tesla chargers are only for Tesla cars. Ecotricity chargers aren't free so they'll want as many to use them as possible.
Great job! It's usually wifey that sends you down the road of decorating, but where are they when you actually start?
When I video starts with a butt crack flash, you know it's going to be a good one 😅
How much cost ?
Think it's great your daughter helped with the floor . Was that a small dog or a cat that put in a brief guest appearance. Garage looks great would look even better with something done with the white door and a logo 👍😀
2 cats!
keep the doors the seperate colours it looks good
When your ready for the new garage door, make sure you look me up, not far from you in Earby. Stu
Won’t the wash water seep through and underneath those tiles?
Guess he washes it outside and does paint correction, protection and interior in the garage
What paint was it mate?
Normal emulsion
Excellent , pity about the noise from the mini
Wait til I install the John Cooper Works Exhaust! :)
My only question is how do you manage to keep the garage empty to put a car into it. Mine has all sorts of crap inside of it
The junk goes in the other garage.
I take it you don’t need to use adhesive for the flooring?
Nope.
Whats the dimensions of the garage ?
How big is your garage?
You can tell cars that break down a lot, they fit gas struts to the bonnet!
Nice job!
Are you still with Green Energy?, I just checked their current tariff and it was silly expensive.
Yes but my price goes to the one for new customers in April.
what are the measurements of your garage?
Request - full wall Alien mural 😉
Will the Model 3 fit in your garage? I assume you've measured up and the answer is yes. But it might be tight when opening. the doors. But you could use summon mode.
Easy. The 5 door mini is bigger than most think. Octavia Estate fits in no issues so M3 will be fine.
What about the white door?
What about it?
nice job well done
Security? Aren't EVs usually online so can be tracked?
Some.
Good job, the garage looks great. Curious as to what happened to the car charger, did you relocate it outside?
Yes
Where did you get the tiles?
Duramat
Do you have a name for those tiles?
Started with Bob and Karen but then ran out of names!
Going into the detailing business again? (never say never :)) At least youll get more BEVs to take out for a spin as an excuse to their owners after you detailed them to see how good they "feel" being all slippery afterwards giving them better efficiency :) and more importantly more content for the channel win win! :)
Last of the mini made in UK , soon made in Europe
The UK is in Europe, you mean son to be made in the EU. There's a big difference.
@@reggiebuffat But the mini is owned by German Car Company not UK company. Even if they are still making them here and not in the EU, their still German car anyway even the engine is German made and sent over to here So Not British car anymore. When a car is not only built here But owned by a British company! Then it be a British car make?
Exactly which tiles did you use to get the price so low?
Had a quick look at their website and most of them are £5+
My double garage is gonna cost £500+ just for the floor 😳
Standard ones. Although I picked them up so no delivery.
Thank you
Andy, where is your car charger. I thought it was in the garage?
Moved it to the other side of the wall outside the garage when the Polo got nicked. That way the Leaf can charge outside. or inside if needed.
It doesn't have to be in the garage if you have off-road parking.
How's the floor if water gets underneath re smells etc.? Looks superb btw!
No idea, only had it down a week.
So a week went by and you still didn’t get a roller 🙈 your a gluten for punishment LOL Goog luck with all your ventures 👍
Good job mate but if you lose your roller just buy another 😂
A tidy garage, for how long 😳. Wish someone tidy mine😂. Looks good.
Just don’t forget to put the pin to drive on the Tesla
that duramat on their website would come to over £500
Garage in UK is as rare as 4 leaf clover especially in southern parts.
You should keep your car keys with you even if the car is at home and have a sign put on the house that say's " NO CAR KEYS ARE LEFT IN THIS HOUSE " Then that will deter any possible car stealer, if no keys there then no house break in and no car taken either? If I had a car I would never leave the keys indoors and have the sign up!
And then they come looking for them from my wife/daughter instead of just taking the car? No thanks.
Roller would have taken you half the time!
19k pics at 5 sec is 26.38 hours
I wasn't 'working' the entire time it was recording. Forgot to turn it off for tea for example.
@@ElectricVehicleMan haha tea break is thinking break so still counts in my book!
Wheres all the garage junk? We cannot move in ours for stuff. Same place as the roller?
😜😜😜
That’s all in the other garage.
Tell me you didn't drive 600 miles just to collect some flooring?!
And an exhaust!
Blimey! We need electric powered couriers in the UK! :)
Was the cat any help? Or just looking for food and sleeping? Maybe be a daft question. We all know the answer.
5:25 😂
I absolutely love your video, I’m a female just renovating my garage is there a way I can contact you. And get some tips. I was wondering where you got your paint from and where you got the flooring from? I’m also struggling to damp proof and keep the cold out. I am on a budget but want to plasterboard my walls I’m just wondering will that be expensive trying to figure a cheap way. But a good sturdy job. My garage is twice your size so money is going up. Best wishes Saffy. @billonwraps ps love your content x
