I am a cheapskate. For many years, I would buy a $.69 banquet potpie about every four or five years because I had forgotten how bad they were. However, I agree with you about the Marie Callender potpies. They were actually tasty. I agree with you about process food, which is why I went to some trouble to count all of the ingredients to let people know there were a lot of extra ingredients. They weren't aware of.
1:50 First mistake: TV dinners taste best heated in a conventional oven or a toaster oven according to instructions on the package. Microwave ovens vary widely on power levels and always seem to turn out an inferior result.
Oh Robb, you are braver than I am. I remember years ago having to eat a salisbury tv dinner because of a kitchen remodel. Too say the least I was not impressed. Best I can remember it was one of the brands that has been around for years. I guess if I had to eat one again, I will remember your taste test or food fight results. You was through with the sides as well. Thanks for sharing your culinary experience and I will pat you on the back for this one. Have a blessed evening!
I appreciate the rigor and thoroughness that went into this video. For me, the main value is being able to eliminate the 3, 4, and 5 taste ratings. I usually go for the Hungry Man because of the varieties of sides; especially the green beans. Having the mashed potatoes in separate section from the meat and gravy keeps the texture more natural. I like to take a bit of the potato and dip it in the gravy before eating it.
Alex, I appreciate that very much. The video took me a long time to make but the most fun was the cutaway jokes and I'm so glad you enjoyed them. Now go watch cool hand Luke or Dr. Strangelove😀
I eat very few frozen dinners, but when i do , Stouffers is my favorite. I did try that Boston Market Salisbury steak a few months ago and it was only edible if you were hungry and had nothing else to eat! Very pasty texture! My favorites are Stouffers vegetable lasagna, kind of small serving, i like to have a little rotisserie chicken with it. Also the chicken a la king is good, little skimpy on the chicken. The chicken broccoli Alfredo is good too, especially if you add extra parmesan. Oh and the only pot pie i have found edible is Marie Callender's chicken pot pie.
Hey Retta, thanks a lot for your comments. They help a lot. I agree with you about the chicken pot pie. I remember eating at one time. I might try some chicken dinners. You have any favorites?
I like the Stouffers meat loaf better than their salisbury steak because I like mashed potatoes better than mac and cheese as a side with a hamburger patty.
Good one, man! Every time that I go to Walmart, I normally buy Michelina's Chicken Alfredo and Five Cheese Zeti because they are cheap, and I can heat them up in the microwave easily. On a personal note, I find those frozen dinners convenient and tastes good when I am too lazy to cook. When I normally eat Michelina's, I get on my computer and start watching your channel when eating my Michelina's. LOL!
I agree! I don’t care what anyone thinks, I love the Banquet Salisbury Steaks (maybe it’s the nostalgia)❤️ I also buy the family pack and make my sides separately.
Goody. Another connoisseur taste test. Would you recommend red wine from a jug or cardboard carton to go with those? I'm not much of a drinker, but they all could taste better with a BOTTLE of red wine. You've got breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the next few days though. Bon appétit! They can be made with hamburger patties smothered in some gravy. The gravy is easy to make in a saucepan with a little butter, a sprinkle of Oxo Beef-in-a-mug powder, and sprinkle of flour or other starch. Stir with a hand whisk and splash in some water to keep thickening to gravy consistency. Add some veggies and/or lettuce and nuke a potato as you make the gravy and you have your comfort food faster than you can microwave one of those.
Hey Island gal, I did eat one but I think the rest are going to my neighbor who has a little dog. I want to do some more food fights with food that I actually eat. Unfortunately might diet does not have a lot of popular foods. But it was fun to do and I think I'll do more. Let me know if there's something you think would make a good food comparison video.
Congratulations Robb! I think you may have performed a necessary public service while ,simultaneously, avoiding a lawsuit over it. I’m putting your name in for the James Henry Salisbury award for courage and excellence. Being impressed by your last efforts , I did stock up on King Oscar’s Boneless Sardines, but I’m satisfied with the knowledge provided by this one and will file it under “emergency options”. You took a few for the team this time. Your sacrifice will not be forgotten.🥴👍 BTW, did you know it could be said that Salisbury Steak saved the Union? No kidding!
Hey chops, I had read about Salisbury steak being a health food at one time, actually the people practicing the carnivore diet may have a lot in common with the original Salisbury steak. I didn't know about it saving the union though. I enjoyed the food fight video and want to do more but you would be surprised I have already had several people unsubscribe. Maybe they could not get over the fact that Paul Newman could actually eat 50 eggs. Or they were upset that I let everyone see the big board.😀
@@RobbsHomemadeLife There is no telling what makes some folks tick or get pissed. My motto is and has always been "screw em’ if they can’t take a joke.” I searched RUclips for “the history of salisbury steak”. I had no idea how interesting that would be. I always assumed it was just a recipe from a restaurant or region. Not so. “The History Guy” has a good video on the subject. Surprised the heck out of me..
I really dont see why people dont like those i think there yummy for the price.. i used to eat those when i was a kid. I eat the heathier ones now sometimes.
Wow, Salisbury Steak -- limp meat basking in yellowish oooze, paper & plastic corn topped with a medicine-tasting apple desert. . . Mmmmm Think I'll sit this one out.
The funny part is that Salisbury steak was initially a health food and the doctor that popularized it claimed he had cured people of ailments that of the treatments failed at. It was basically an all meat diet. Or a high meat diet. You might be interested looking it up since you eat mostly meat. Graham crackers was another health food. And cornflakes.
Hey Al, it's interesting that the dinner that had the least ingredients cost the most and tasted the best. The one that had the most ingredients was ghastly.
Hello Gregory I'm afraid they are baked into the video. Thanks for letting me know that you don't like them because I went to some trouble to add them because I thought people would like them. If more people complain I will reconsider. Thanks again.
I have not had the dollar store chicken sandwich but I have been making my own chicken sandwich with the Walmart brand chicken patties they are actually very good
I totally respect the work he put in to review all these meals. But why go to that length for such shitty food. This food is legit trash. AGAIN I commend the effort… but damn bro. Totally wasn’t worth it.
As much as I hate processed food, when it comes to this stuff Stouffer's is the best with Marie Calendar a close second (mainly their pot pies).

Hey Willows, I wonder if the chicken dinners would've been any better.
@@RobbsHomemadeLife ha, I started to suggest the chicken, but I wasn’t sure if you would be game for that. Give it a whirl and see.

@Robb's Homemade Life. Robb, the only favorites I have are the ones I mentioned. I don't eat any of the fried things because of GMO oils.
I like the Stouffers meat loaf better than their salisbury steak because I like mashed potatoes better than mac and cheese as a side with a hamburger patty.

Love Banquet best. I only buy the Salisbury family pack. Love the steaks not the sides.

You, sir, are the Project Farm of foodstuffs. 👍🏻
What a nice comment. Project Farm is great! How's everything John?
Yep, you get what you pay for. How about a video on microwave lasagna? Spoiler, Stouffer would probably win this one too.
Hey thanks, I will put lasagna on the list. So far the only other suggestion has been hot salsa. If I start doing these I need to buy a freezer😀😀
I love lasagna and i approve this messege😊

I loved the salisbury steak that was served at my elementary school. I think the lunch ladies actually made it from scratch 😋
I remember the pizza they would make on English muffins.
There are several RUclips tutorials on making Salisbury steak.
Hey Rob. Good video. Any way to turn off the subtitles?

Stouffer's #1
Stouffer's was pretty good thanks for watching.
Stouffers. How about Dollar Tree frozen. I heard they have a very good frozen chicken sandwich. I haven had the guts or the stomach acid to try.
I have not had the dollar store chicken sandwich but I have been making my own chicken sandwich with the Walmart brand chicken patties they are actually very good
Banquet is fine for pocket change meals, but their quality is terrible.
I agree sometimes they're awful. I end up buying one of their popeyes every three or four years to remind myself why I don't buy them.
I totally respect the work he put in to review all these meals. But why go to that length for such shitty food. This food is legit trash. AGAIN I commend the effort… but damn bro. Totally wasn’t worth it.
