As a kid even not knowing how raunchy his jokes could be i just always had a soft spot for sam kinison i just saw someone who looked so loveable i really just couldn't help it i believe he was a decent guy inside and often just didn't let people see that /people also need to remember he was a comedian ,he told jokes and sometimes those jokes we not for everyone i credit him smart funny and in his own words generous and for giving me a different look at things and making me smile, thankyou
Sam was a creature of his time but I think his heart was in the right place. I respect the hell out of him and his comic workings are well missed today.
He partied hard and was very irreverent, but his comedy was brilliant. He did have a good heart. One of his biggest problems was the people he spent time with. Not that Sam needed other substance abusers around to party hard, but those people who partied with Sam and hung on to him cause he was generous and affable to a fault are the people his brother Bill wishes he'd been able to shake free from.
He is exactly right. I do not have to support or understand the gay movement. That is my right but so many out there connect that to hate, racism, and bigotry. That sickens me. It is their right to be gay, but not my right to be disgusted by it.
I didn't agree with all of the gay jokes, but I still found Sam entertaining. He's absolutely right, if you agree with the humor, don't go to the show, it's that simple. You don't like the show, change the channel. I wish Sam were the still here, he'd tear these PC a-holes a new one.
Now in 2021 comedy’s dead. Comics afraid to offend a race or gender in fear of being cancelled. People got a stick up their a#* when it’s really all in fun.
He really set the standard for comics to not be a hack and try your own material that nobody has thought of. None of this airplane food bullcrap. Bill Hicks had influence like that too. They just questioned the status quo and made you think about your surroundings spreading awareness to constructs or ideas in society. Truth-telling really is what it is. Being honest saying what is on people's minds but people won't say it on a regular basis. Not your casual conversation lol raw talent that wasn't boring/ generic like we are seeing today.
I'm not a fan of Kinison's comedy, personally. Not my cup of tea. But, I don't doubt the man was smart and articulate. It sucks that it's been nearly a quarter of a century and the issue of free speech and what's offensive is still something people even have to argue about.

I think when Kinison was around he didn't know the statistics on mental health and suicide among LGBT people who are bullied, the information wasn't available then, Kinison was good guy, he would have adjusted his act if he had the information we have these days.
