I’m turning 50 soon and have been following competitive bass fishing since 1982. Gary was my first favorite bass angler. Thanks Edwin for being a great guy and interviewing Mr. Klein. Good luck with the rest of the 2022 season.

Edwin, this is the best interview you have done because it is with Gary Klein. In 78 or 89 I fished as a non boater and was still living in California at the time. Gary was at the same motel as us and his boat was next to my partner Rich Tauber. Gary was the last person to finish getting all his equipment ready for the tournament and I had a chance to visit with him. I have followed him since. Edwin, you have that same passion and drive and I believe that is why you are one of best fisherman around. 🐟🎣

Hats off to Gary Klein and you Edwin for interviewing him. I love the passion and knowledge you both have of this sport we love so much. I can't wait to get to Lewis Smith Lake to see you both. Continue to bring the legends along with the up and coming young anglers to your show. May God bless you both.

My hero. At 81 I still fish 3 days a week… bc I “work” the other days. I am a BASS Life time member and a CHARTER member of BASS.
Gary introduced me to flipping. Lived in NOLA, fished Venice, LA every week. Pulled out my first “flipping stick” and loaded the boat with reds on one well head. Went to next well head and loaded boat with bass. The game was on. In 2.5 days I caught 300 bass. My go to bait has since been flipping the jig. Just last Saturday after a major storm I caught 45 bass on 3/8 oz
    black/blue jig.
Thanks Gary for a lifetime enjoyment of flipping the jig.

What a great guy and great angler Gary is!! Always liked watching him work his magic on the deck of his boat... I'll never forget a tip he gave year's ago about down sizing a crankbait to using a crappie crank and using light line,as a young teenager that changed from me catching maybe one to catching upwards of ten up and down the banks of river's and lake's I fished... what a legend Gary is!!🎣🎣 🐐 🐐!

Very happy to hear you mention my good friend Rich Forhan, who has been responsible for what we would today consider the modern bass fishing rod. So many others like Steve Gardner who introduced micro-guides to bass rods, myself and Andy Dear who pioneered the first carbon fiber rod gips. So many people like Rich who worked behind the scenes to develop modern bass fishing tackle but who most fishermen have never heard of.

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME. Been a fan and part time competitor of Gary's since back in the days of Western Bass and US BASS. Met him once at sign up at Lake Powell and was impressed in his professional demeanor along with his down to earth friendliness. He is too humble to brag but i have always said it ain't braggin if it's the truth and he has done about everything. Him and Roland only lack a Classic trophy but it doesn't diminish eithers accomplishments. He's close friends to Greg Hines along with about every other West Coast bass angler that competed regularly. I never heard anyone say a disparaging word about Gary which in my book says volumes about him and his reputation in the fishing industry. Congrats on being inducted into the Texas Fishing Hall of Fame. Again thanks Edwin for having Gary on your channel, he didn't goober it up.

Awesome video Mr Evers. Got a related story of Mr Klein. In Jan 1989 he, Nixon and Zell did a seminar in Lou,Ky. I was 10 years old and ate up with fishin and had been fishing tournaments for 2 years. While waiting in the lobby to teach their portion Gary and Zell each spent 30 min talking to a young kid like I was an adult. Caught my first 8lber in a tournament on Rough river lake less than 2 months later. Thanks for the great video with a great guy.

Gary USED to live just down the road from me. Literally.
    But he was NEVER HOME!!!
He moved to the middle of nowhere in the neighboring county.
He buys his tires at a local mom and pop tire store.
I was driving by there 1 day and I saw his rig. I don’t know where I was headed or what I had going but I decided I was going to be late. I put the brakes on and turned around.
    I met Gary.
I’m old. I been watching Gary since early 1980’s. When he was known as the California kid.
It was cool to meet him.
But he didn’t have much to say. Lol.
Harold Allen is a Texas Legend.
People today don’t realize we used to have 10 fish limit in tournaments. Then to 7 then to 5.

On the restocking of 10 times the percentage of fish lost, would that not potentially lead to overstocked levels for the amount of forage in the lakes? I've studied some in environmental science and that's why I ask that. However on the same coin, it's awesome to see an organization that is giving back to the fishery

I’ve always been a BASS fan . It’s still my favorite of all the circuits . But I really have to commend MLF for restocking the lakes after a big 5 event. And doing all the research to find out the best fish genetically to stock the lake with. I fish the Ohio and Indiana area. MLF it putting more into creating great bass fisheries than our state agencies . Around here our state agencies take our money and screw bass fisherman. They seem to only care about saugeye and musky .
