DIY 🛠 3 Useful Tools for Your Workshop: Metalwork Scriber, Punch and Awl

Compilation of ideas how to utilize broken drill bits made of HSS steel. Not buy, but DIY! The chips of drill bits are made of very hard alloy, so the tips for a scriber, punch and awl made of them will be durable and are intended for hard materials.
It's easy to sharpen the tips using an angle grinder. The angles should be 90-110 degrees for a punch, 40-45 degrees for a scriber, and as acute as possible for an awl. Then we adapt handles for the tips. The first problem is to insert drill bit of 3 mm diameter into the 2.5 mm collet attachment of a handle. The second one, is to drill a hole in a rod to make a punch. Then a body of any old pen became a handle for the scriber tip.
