    One thing I really want is for Damian to get close to Dick and Alfred first (especially since the comics like to highlight Damian’s relationship with them) and it’s Bruce seeing that happening which makes Bruce become less suspicious of Damian (because he would be).
    I love the idea of it being focused on character and not have a focus on antagonists especially since it would also give more time for us to see the Batfamily. Maybe a villain like Professor Pyg would be good since I believe he was one of the villains whose victims first showed Damian’s growth but I could be remembering wrong.
    Would love a part 2 especially in regards to which extended members you think will show up and how they would be incorporated, especially if you think Tim Drake would be in it since a Batman year 10 could work with him as Robin at the start of the movie

(Ty matt reeves) I need him to dodge bullets in mid flight, punch out villains tripple his weight class, use his "Seismic Knuckle" attachments to smack around characters who literally trade blows with Superman. I need his cowl to have the white eyes that move with his facial expression, I need his cape to have the ability to drape over his entire body, i need him to be damn near the smartest person on earth only comparable to Lex Luthor. I need his ability to outwit opponents far more powerful than him without just pre-planning. Another great video! I really appreciate these deep dives and speculation on what the story could be about. I think you’re going to turn out to be right about many of these points.
    As for Bruce’s arc in the story, I do agree that he’ll start at a more distant place and then maybe learn that he doesn’t have to treat Damian like a little soldier and instead can show him tenderness and love. I feel like in this kind of story, Bruce will need a positive arc in order for it to feel satisfying. In the comics, Bruce remains distant sometimes because the story is so ongoing that it needs to stretch out for years. But in a movie, you need to show change in a 2-3 hour period, so we’ll see Bruce come around.
    I also really liked what you said about how there won’t necessarily be a big bad as an antagonist even though there will be enemies and villains to fight. In the story structure of a romance, for example, the romantic couple is set up as protagonist/antagonist to each other. Each wants to continue with their own lives and own misbeliefs about why they shouldn’t be in love with anyone, but then their future partner shows up and proves to be irresistible, and foils their plans. I think TBATB will be structured similarly, with Bruce/Damian set up as the protagonist/antagonist pair. Maybe the struggle is about both having misbeliefs about what family is supposed to be, and both changing the other as a result. I see Dick Grayson as being a really important secondary character in that sort of scenario, since he will have grown up with Bruce and then broken away to be on his own. He will be able to give both Bruce and Damian advice and insight on each other.

    If i was doing Batman i would do it like this:
    Year 1 - Bruce is 23
    Year 3 - Dick becomes robin
    Year 6 - dick leaves
    Year 7 - jason becomes robin
    Year 9 - Jason dies
    Year 11- Tim becomes robin
    Year 13 - Damien becomes robin (tim either leaves is kicked out for whatever reason)
    Thats a very basic outline of what i think could work

    For the batfamily I would want dick to be nightwing (duh) Jason to still be dead and be a villian in a future movie, Barbra paralyzed but gets the chip for here spine to let her be Batgirl again (because Barbra still hasn't had time to shine as Batgirl in live action yet) Tim at college and forming the titans, and maybe have Kate Kane as batwoman but she isn't in gotham so it can go either way. As well as set up luke fox to be batwing in a future film and have catwoman mostly on there side but still a thief

    I'm really excited for DCU Batman since I've been waiting for a live action Batman that exists in a world of Metahumans. Yeah we got that with Batfleck but now we get that element in a fleshed out fantastical Gotham so we might get to see more of Bruce's meta villains (shape shifting Clayface, Ivy with plant powers, Venom juiced Bane, Man-Bat, etc.). And with the Bat-Family included, I'm all in. Use the Bruce Timm Bats as inspiration and/or heavy leaning on the comics and you have a potential winner.

    Tbh I would prefer Talia as she originally was as opposed to the Morison retcons. Which where racially motivated to an extent. I really liked the way Arrow walked back Talia to being a flawed individual that truly wants to do good. I am not opposed to her helping Damian flee, provided they use the entire “R’as kept Damian away from her until he was eight” back story they had at some point. Otherwise it could be interesting to see Damian flee himself from the league. I would of course love to see R’as again. I am just not sure how soon because he was on tv so much in the 2010s plus the Dark Knight, but then again this would presumably be a different take on him.

    Boba do you prefer the Batman-Nightwing relationship being strictly father-son? Or do you agree that it should be canon that Bruce was so young when he took Dick in that he saw him as more of a younger brother and didn’t fully realize that he wasn’t the father Dick was looking for bc Nightwing purely saw him as a father and that caused the disconnect between them? Hope I explained it well, interesting in hearing your take on this, hope you’re doing well.

    I honestly think this’ll have a more similar vibe to the Gotham Knights video game honestly. Wearing its heart and comic book soul on its sleeve, while also having something similar to an Arkham series edge. You can have the bright colors are striking designs and bombastic action and still be ‘cool’ and badass.
    And in the same note as Gotham Knights, having the League of Shadows/ assassins as the villains are a really good idea. You see, I think we need to remember that this isn’t really a Batman movie. This is a BatFAMILY movie! We need a threat that’s large enough to challenge this entire family. And considering that the Court of Owls is likely getting saved for The Batman universe, the league of shadows raiding Gotham City is an extremely exciting premise for a theatrical Bat movie!
    And, yeah, we need to stop trying to figure out Batman’s age in this universe. We never asked this question with the other Batmen after all. These characters are timeless, and I think James intends to treat them as such. I understand we want Bruce to have a brotherly connection with Clark, but I’m certain that as long as the chemistry is there? They’ll be good. Tony Stark is… technically older than Steve Rogers (if the cryostasis doesn’t count) in both looks and attitude, but they still worked well together.

    A lot of fans, including myself, are holding out hope that Jensen Ackles gets casted for Bruce Wayne/Batman. The guys still looks young for his age and can definitely pull off both the smooth, rich, playboy as well as the serious, brooding vigilante. He is also a parent so he can bring some of that "father-figure" that's required for the role.

      @@dcmastermindfirst9418 Well that depends on what Jim & Pete are aiming for. Jensen Ackles is about to be 46 yet he still looks like he is in his mid 30's. Tom Holland is currently 27 years old yet he still looks like he's 18, allowing him to pull off highschool Peter Parker. As long as he looks the part, acts the part, & can physically perform well enough, it can work.

  • @Cloud-dt6xb
    @Cloud-dt6xb 9 месяцев назад

    Your forgetting that whoever they pick will need to be Batman for a long time, so going as young as possible is likely what Gunn wants to do. And there's plenty of ways to handle where Damian Wayne fits into that time line, like he could've had a relationship in his twenties that went south but it was long enough for Damian to exist. That's just one example off the top of my head though. Infact how Damian was born is already a super interesting story to focus just from the possiblites on how it could go.

  • @rcbmmines4579
    @rcbmmines4579 10 месяцев назад

    Although they definitely won't go 1:1, Grant Morrison's run is the perfect source of inspiration for DCU Batman. Bruce at that point I'd say is definitely at his peak at least until the New 52 happened towards the end and compressed the timeline. Otherwise, this was a seasoned Batman at his prime, at his most prepared, yet still human unlike what some memes claim. It really embraced decades of comic book history from the Golden, Silver and Bronze Ages too. It was a perfect balance of those eras and the later ones that shaped modern Batman. Then before it was undone, Dick Grayson became Batman, Damian Wayne became Robina and Bruce embraced family and created Batman Inc.
    I do also hope they take from Peter Tomasi and Patrick Gleason's Batman & Robin run because that's where Bruce and Damian's relationship really go into depth. Morrison did have interactions with them in his work for sure but Dick and Damian had a lot more together then and it's in Tomasi's run where Bruce and Damian really open up on a deeper level. As for the villains, man I'd love to see Simon Hurt but Talia, Leviathan and an army of Ninja Man Bats would be great too.

    I hate that they’re introducing yet another “old” Batman into a universe where Superman, The Flash, Aquaman, etc. are all 10-20 years younger than him.
    I get that they probably wanted to jump straight to Nightwing, Red Hood, Batgirl, and MAYBE Red Robin… but it muddy’s the dynamic between Batman and his fellow Justice League members. Making Batman so mature right off the get go puts him closer towards the back end of his career while everyone else is barely starting. We don’t get to see these characters grow with one another, and learn from each other. Batman will once again just be the elder veteran everyone is supposed to look up to. It was literally just done in the DCEU.
    Batman needs to be mysterious and relatively new to them, they need to be slightly uncomfortable around him at first, only knowing of rumors and scary stories… time spent together would allow them to grow together, and become a stronger team.

    Interesting discussion. I hope the new DCU runs 10 yrs + (tired of reboots) so, for me, Batman has to be early 30s. He presumably has a large role to play in unreleased titles beyond what we’ve seen.
    Also child actors age really fast so if they plan on using Damien more than once something to be mindful of there.
    Talia is a must. Ras would be interesting, and as a character could link into Swamp Thing if they do him justice and don’t make him a throwaway one-off villain.
    Just hope we don’t get lots of nerfed villains as a gauntlet of sorts

    I mean, if Bruce spent from the ages of 16-23 travelling the world training, 2 of those years spent with the league, he could unknowingly conceive Damien. Become batman by 24 train a new robin every 2 years but would rather the robins be a tad older than 11-13.
    Maybe Dick is already 18, and by the time he becomes robin, he already has crazy acrobatics and focuses on "keep away" rather than head-on combat. After a year and a half Dick would start patrolling alone, without permission from Batman, because he hated how violent he was.
    Jason is 16 by the time Bruce is 28 and when Jason dies a year in by the age of 17, Bruce refuses to take on another young partner after that and never mentally recovers.
    2 years later Bruce sees promise in a young Tim who has a home made robin outfit. But cursed by Jason's death he can not allow himself to endanger another child. Tim angered by this discovers the identity of Batman and the 2 Robins. After discovering what happened to Jason he understands but it doesn't kill his drive. Impressed by Tim's detective work and after consistent persuasion Bruce takes the third robin under his wing.
    Sometime has passed with Dick now going by Nightwing and Bruce Tim's robin essentially go through the "under the redhood" storyline together.
    So by 33 Batman could have Nightwing, Redhood and Robin all while introducing Damien. Tim opting to transition to Red Robin to pave his own road and give room for Damien

  • @trevorminyard8885

    I think the amount of Robins Batman has had throughout his career should be streamlined for the movies. Four is a bit absurd especially if Batman’s career only lasts 20 years from age 25-45. At the risk of angering fans I think it would be smart to get rid of Tim Drake as he seems to be the most expendable. His only real distinguishing trait is being equal to Bruce in his detective skills but that’s something that can easily be attributed to Dick. Then combine Damian and Jason where you practically get rid of Jason Todd altogether and have Damian fill his role as the slain son to be resurrected and turned into Red Hood.
    I think Damian works better in that role anyway because he’s already a trained killer and murderous psycho when he shows up on Bruce’s doorstep. Bruce has just recently parted ways with Dick sending him off into the world to be his own man and now all of a sudden he’s got another kid to deal with and it’s his own flesh and blood. He takes Damian in and dedicates himself fully to not just raising Damian but changing him. Reprogramming him from the Assassins way of life to a controlled restrained protector. Then just when Damian is turning a new leaf, he’s taken from Bruce by the Joker.
    Not only would this add even more tragedy to the death in the family, would also serve as better motivation for Raas to bring Robin back to life with the Lazarus pit as it’s his own grandson now. And when Damian makes his return as Red Hood he’s fallen back into the murderous tendencies only now it’s on his own terms and not the assassins as he’s seen Bruce’s no-kill rule is ineffective. But instead of being a murder happy psycho he’s able to use what Bruce has taught him to go after the real criminals who need killed and do it more efficiently.

    Here's what I don't get. There are dozens of Batman stories you could do before Damien any one of which could be it's own movie or series of movies. And they're skipping over *all* of them to go right to Damien? They're skipping over Killing Joke, Death In The Family, Knightfall, Under The Red Hood, Batman recruiting Tim Drake, Nightwing having a falling otu and leaving to found the Teen Titans. All of those good stories which could be their own franchises. For Damien Wayne. They may as well be saying "Sorry! We know you wanted to see all those stories adapted before Damien Wayne. But we decided we don't want your money!"

  • @jackstutz2860
    @jackstutz2860 10 месяцев назад

    I agree with the focus of the movie being on Bruce and Damian's relationship. I think the closest Bruce has ever gotten to truly being a parent is with Dick. He adopted Dick, trained and lived with him for years and all that. Dick is kind of the template Bruce needs to see what he does wrong as a father in order to do it better for Damian, with Dick's insight and assistance certainly. I don't point to any of the other robins because Jason wasn't around long enough to be truly a son to Bruce and Tim has parents so while Bruce is definitely a father figure for him, thats more just the mentor aspect of that role than everything else that goes into it. I think at the very least, we need to see Dick in the movie because he's the connecting tissue between Bruce and Damian, in both comics and just common sense given the history.

    I feel like they could have Bruce just wear a black ninja outfit for his early years in Gotham. maybe he’s 23 when he starts fighting crime but he puts on the bat suit at 25 and then he meets Grayson at 26, Jason at 28, Jason dies when Bruce is 30, then Bruce could be alone until 33 he meets Tim, and at 35 is when Damien comes around. So Bruce would be Batman officially for 10 years but he’s been fighting in Gotham for 12 or 13 years.
