- Boom back today for another Mario ranking video. This time going back to the past to the original 2D Super Mario brothers games to find out which one is the best and the worst.

I feel like Mario 3 is kinda overrated. The level design is sometimes uninspired and the game is honestly too long.

It's pretty close between World and 3, but I have to give it to 3. It has more unique worlds, better power ups, and I really like how the themes for the worlds are able to tie in to the level design to make the levels more unique. It also felt like more of an adventure, rather than just a trek on an island
3 and world are too good, but smb 2 ranked as third ? No, it's the worst thing I ever played

I know many people have ranked Mario power-ups, but It'd be cool to hear it from your perspective!

I love Super Mario Land 2. It's so often under rated and it's such a great game especially considering how much it pushed the limitations of the hardware it was on.

All of these games are really good though. Even the one ranked last. Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World are not only my favorite Mario games, but they're also 2 of my favorite video games of all time in general
I am currently playing the classic 2D Mario games on the SNES system on Switch.
The only problem is that I can't play the Mario Lands because they aren't on SNES.
I'm enjoying these games because they are pretty simple and but very fun to play.
Here's my Ranking!
1.Super Mario World
(It is just perfect and legendary and I played the 2 player mode with my brother)
2.Super Mario Bros 3
(I don't really know which game I enjoy more but I feel like Mario World is a bit better)
3.Super Mario Bros 2
(It surprised me! It was very fun to play and it was different in a good way)
4.Super Mario Bros
(It's a very important game in the game industry but it's boring in my opinion bc every level feels like the same)

(Unoriginal and not fun to play)

Actually, Doki Doki Panic was not a "random game that Nintendo slapped the Mario skin onto". The game was actually worked on by the Mario team and contained references from Mario. Myamoto even called it "a better Mario". Also, the difficulty of the Japan SMB2 was not the only reason why Nintendo of America rejected it; it was also due to the fact that it looked identical to the first game which caused it to look like an extension pack rather than a true sequel. Nintendo of America feared that by the time they ported SMB2 from disk to cartridge, it would look outdated. Also, at the time, America was still recovering from the video grame crisis, and Nintendo was afraid that it would turn people away from Mario and gaming if they released a sequel to Super Mario Bros that looked identical to it and was trolling players all the time. Nintendo of Japan saw Doki Doki Panic as the perfect replacement for SMB2, because it was the game they had that was closest to Mario, and they didn't have time to make another sequel because they were already working on Super Mario Bros 3. Also, Nintendo couldn't release Doki Doki Panic outside of Japan because it was a tie in game for a festival and Fuji TV owned the rights to the main characters

Super Mario World was the best game ever made for its time. The game play, the levels, the music, the power ups, the different yoshi’s, and of course all the secrets which were very satisfying to find back in the early 90s when you didn’t have the internet to help you. The game is so well thought out and laid out.. and for myself I get so much nostalgia for every single level when i replay this game since SNES was my first console and super mario world was my first game i ever owned. My only disappointment was they never made a proper sequel… super mario world 2 yoshi’s island was a completely different game and such a disappointing sequel to the first super mario world. It would have been nice to see Nintendo bring the sequel to a different world but with the exact same style of game play with maybe just a few new power ups and mechanics added instead of dropping hot garbage yoshi’s island as the sequel (ok maybe im being a bit harsh, yoshis island was “OK” I guess)

I really like this list. I like all the games on the list except lost levels. That one sucks. And No, you have three more series to rank. Mario kart, mario party and mario and luigi. Also, Don't feel bad about not knowing how to use the Cape feather. I don't know how to use it either and I am proud of it.

For the cape feather, run until Mario starts t-posing then jump, once in the air press the opposite direction of the way you are facing

Solid list, I kind of find it crazy that you put Mario land 1 over super Mario bros 1 but other than that it’s good. Also I think Mario bros 3 is much better than Mario world but I can see why you have it at 1

Super Mario Bros should definetly be ahead of both Super Mario Land games.
My personal favorite mario kart game is Mario Kart DS it's because of two reasons

Well super Mario world is where Yoshi made is debut and not sure but I also think Boo did as well. Super Mario world in my eyes goes down as the best Mario game because is the foundation of what Mario is today. Imagine Mario with no Yoshi?

My rankings:
7 lost levels. Way too hard. Barely fun. Whenever I beat a level I don't say "Wow!" I say "Finally!"
6 land. It has aged. The physics make me think Mario's on a weird looking moon, but I do say the shoot-em-up sections have a great balance of spam and wait for shooting.
5 bros. It is a master piece back then, but the main setback is that it has aged.
4 bros 3. It has great controls, but the level design is either hit or miss. The main complaint I have is that the mushrooms go the opposite side that I hit the question block from. Has caused me more deaths than was necessary.
3 land 2. This Mario game is so interesting. Did you know that the first prototype for land 2 was rejected because it was too different to regular Mario? I love how it doesn't take itself too seriously and have some good Wario land charm as this was basically a prequel.
2 bros 2. This game is a amazing change of pace from every other classic 2d Mario game. It's so satisfying to get on a high ledge and snipe an enemy with a turnip
1 world. The first Mario game I played, and even though I had no idea what a run button was, I enjoyed everything through the first two worlds, and everything past once I actually learned the controls. My only gripe with it is the level tubular, but everything else is so great that that doesn't bring it down a bit.
