1. He won so many State Filmfare Awards and he was fed up with that. He told the award organisers not to consider his movies for the awards and asked them to give awards to others.
2. Kamal Hasan was the first one in Indian Cinema who shot an entire movie in Digital Camera. It was his movie Mumbai Express
3. Most of his movies attained cult status only after a decade of its release. He was always a generation ahead in his approach.
4. Even, 10 years before he was the first one in India who proposed a simultaneous OTT release for his movie and eventually received heavy criticism that time. Now, OTT release is the new norm.
5. He could speak most of the Indian Languages fluently.

Fun fact: he has spent a total of 40 years in the shooting spot working on movies

He also acted in a lot of Malayalam films where he developed his acting style and with the guidance of his mentor K Balachander, he fine tuned his talents in Tamil cinema. Kamal is just a phenomenon. I would have watched at least 25 films which were different from each other and can be easily a bet to be within the all-time classics and commercially good.

It was impressive for the time (1989) because CGI was really in its infancy, and the director had to use things like camera angles, trench shots, and special costumes and props to make Kamal Hassan look small. It was a nightmarish challenge for the director, and he succeeded in the end

Kamal finished 8th grade in school. He was more interested in heightening his skills for movie industry. He learnt different forms of dances, makeup art, worked as assistant director in early years. He often visited the US to learn make-up art and movie related technologies. He has even worked as a make-up artist for Silvester Stallone in the movie First Blood.

Oh yeah, hey Jaby! I'm very surprised nobody has recommended to you the greatest silent film of Indian cinema starring one of the best actors, Kamal Hassan. As the genre indicates, it has no language and hence was a pan Indian film. It had different names, Pushpaka Vimanam, Pushpak, Pushpaka Vimana etc., depending on which Indian state it was released. And this movie was directed by the legendary Telugu film maker, Singeetham Srinivasa Rao. To my knowledge this movie has won more than one national award. This is a must watch!

He worked as a assistant director, stuntmen, choreographer, cinematographer, technical artist, supporting actor etc and this is just the small part of kamal he is also a poet, writer and he also started a newspaper. To be fair, many actors we see today was in the film industry because they were inspired from him. And all that he has ever earned he put it into film, nothing else. True artist to the core none other than him, and I doubt there is no one who could be like him in future either. Kamal is a legacy 💙🙂

Between childhood and the adolescence, that period, he wasn't part of films but he was still performing arts. He was into theatre actively and dance training. He was an asst. director & choreographer. So essentially he was preparing for a rollercoaster ride to come for next 50 yrs not only for himself but also for entire Indian cinema. A legend. 🙏🏼

He is very erudite. English and Tamil. Speaks several languages with proper diction, pronunciation and master of dialects. In a movie he wrote a song and sang it backwards. He actually sang backwards and he demonstrated.

Kamal was a superstar when Rajini entered . Still u have to know about another living legend musical Maestro Illayaraja. Still u will be amazed on his talent.he is Indian Mozart.
Both of yours assessments of Kamalhassan are spot on. He is a high school drop out from a higher middle class family and well read. He acted as a child in few films till 1963. There was a recess for about 7 years till 1970. Next few years was struggling as an actor doing small roles till about 1974, when he got his first filmfare award. Since then no turning back. Like the lady anchor said, KH is a master craftsman, showman and a consummate artist. I think he is the most versatile person not only in acting but also in various film making craft on earth. Can you name someone as adept as him? And the quality he brings on the table invariably is incomparable. He actually defies the saying “jack of all master of none”...

No other actor (etcetera) frm india or probably in the world would even come close with so much versatility to showcase in so many diff roles and experiments out of the box fr decades.
But Unfortunately our govt yet to confer padma vibhushan or dadasaheb phalke or bharath ratna award to this living legend "Sakalakalavallavan" (Master of many arts) nd "Ulaganayagan" (Universal hero). Such a Pity that it is already awarded to the less deserving..French govt has recognised his talent nd contribution and conferred him "Chevalier de L'Ordre Arts et Lettres" award.
Like all say, Hollywood is where he should have been..Imagine if quarantine tarantino is getting inspired frm a scene in Kamal Sir Ji movie "Aalavandaan" nd implementing it in his own hollywood movie "Kill Bill". Even queen Elizabeth had once visited the set of his shelved movie project "Marudhanayagam" (few clips at the end of the video). His "Nayakan" movie featured in many lists of the greatest films ever made, including TIME's "All Time 100 best films" and CNN-IBN''s "100 greatest Indian films of all time". He has also interviewed "Life of Pi" movie director Mr Ang Lee. Even Mr Jackie Chan has heaped praise on him nd expressed his desire to work with him. All these simply shows that he is a class apart.
