Didn't realise there were other ways to rest the SMC. I have a 2018 MBP and the keyboard light was working on startup, then became completely unresponsive. The first SMC reset worked for me (using only the power key). Thank you so much!
Thank you!!! The first option didn’t work because I didn’t have the option in my settings it was gone your second tip worked no one else shared that one thanks
I spent 30mins on apple chat trying to get help and they recommended for me to send the MacBook to them. And all I had to do was flip a switch. Thank you Sandeep Singh
maybe you're using the new O.S. , in that case, I'm using Sonoma, so search keyboard from spotlight search, then go to Touch Bar settings from keyboard navigation, then click customise Control Strip, click your Touch Bar to change something, now don't save the changes and escape from the menus, now it won't interfere with the control of backlit keys, and you will be able to control it ! Hope it helps !

hey I tried to reset my MacBook and the backlights showed up for a second but then when I typed in the password and logged in, it stopped working again. Why is that? Can someone help me?
