Your comment made me laugh so hard because the struggle is real :) To be honest, I don't know who you are, but you will go somewhere someday. So plan for that next trip however long ahead of time it is :)
One tip I want to add is : do not try to be the traveler that you're not. Most of the time we see these travelers doing a lot of things, hiking whatever and we can feel like we have to be an explorer. But we don't have to. I've been travelling solo for 3 years. I don't short trips around Europe and bigger ones to Canada. I'm not a hiker and I have health issues so my trips are more chill and I don't put myself in extreme situation.
I’ve always found that it feels weird at first and then after a few days it feels totally natural. Solo traveling is so common nowadays and if you’re reading this you’re a badass so there’s no reason to be self conscious :-)
To travel around Europe by train there is a pass called "interrail train pass" and you can travel to every country pretty cheap. There is also this pass for just a single country but sometimes it is not worth it if compare the price of the individual train tickets to the pass one.
@@elliesoininen2310 traveling solo at 15? Girl I'm sure you know this but please be safe and dont trust anyone that gives you a weird vibe. I'm travelling solo soon at 21 and im scared as hell so good luck!
Emily Storck don’t worry I have done it before and I will be with different people for parts of it. I will probably make a lot of videos on t if u have any interest in those this summer! Thanks for looking out for me though!👍🏻😊💗
I 100% agree with the "trust you gut" notion. I went backpacking with a college friend in Europe last summer, and on our last full day (we were in Munich, Germany), this guy that gave us both weird vibes came up and started talking to us in a crowd of people watching some street buskers. He ended up leading us to a different area (much less crowded), which was sort of a red flag for me (since we didn't know that area at all, and he did). We ended up just talking as the sun started setting (although his conversation also became a little strange: talking about the "have and have nots" and how "life isn't fair sometimes"), and we went are separate ways (probably due to intense "you're sketching me out" non-verbal communication by me lol, trying to leave before the sun fully set), so everything was fine. Turns out, my friend was on the phone with her mom when she noticed the guy staring at her from a far (for a long time), and was trying to give me "the look" before he approached (which I missed). Maybe we overreacted...who knows. Moral of the story: if you start getting a weird vibe, look out for red flags/reasons to go your separate way (avoid less crowded areas, leave before the sun goes down, etc.). We probably could have cut the conversation off a lot earlier, but both my friend and I were trying to be polite and missing/misreading each other's signals. Also, not sure if this is necessary info or not, but he also had like drawn on eyebrows (almost sharpie-like), which was a tad strange....but I ignored it cause he seemed pretty friendly.
This could't have been uploaded at a more PERFECT time; currently reflecting on my recent travels and planning for my trips to Spain and France soon :)
I took up basic French and Japanese classes and I must say, they're pretty helpful especially for me who wants to go to those countries. I've never travelled outside the country but I would love to do it once I get a job and save up.
I'm currently on a solo backpacking trip and I've been traveling in Europe for 3 weeks now. I definitely found that in the low season that it is right now, you can risk going to a city without booking in advance and just go to a hostel and ask for a bed. Just make sure you take busses and trains throughout the week and not at night. Flixbus and regiojet busses are fine and cheap. The more to the east you go in Europe, the cheaper it will be. And a tip from a native dutch person, if you visit the Netherlands, please visit some other place (like Utrecht, Groningen, Rotterdam, Maastricht) besides Amsterdam. Really worth it for a real dutch experience!
I love how realistic and down to earth you are. Unlike some other people on youtube who live such vastly different lives compared to your average 20-something-year-olds.

i know this video is “old” but hey! something i learned the hard way is to 1) OVER plan. that way if something is closed or if you don’t know what to do there’s a backup! and you don’t have to do everything on your itinerary, but it does suck to be in europe and go “……what should i do?” and suddenly you’ve wasted four hours lol. and 2) buy museum tickets days in advance :) imagine me in paris ready to go to the louvre and it was sold out! haha, i ended up buying a year long subscription for Versailles palace cause it’s all they had left! worth it

Hey love! When you're in the LA area I say visit The Griffith Observatory. The view is beautiful and it's free. There's also other museums like The Broad or LACMA. Other places you could go are Universal Studios City Walk, Huntington Beach (bonfires are allowed), and the Rose bowl flea market where you can find cute vintage clothing (I believe it's only on Sunday). Also a heads up, Hollywood is nothing like the movies. It's actually pretty crappy and smells terrible irl. 😫 Hope you enjoy your trip! ❤️
I've been interrailing before and I'm going again this year. If you buy an interrail pass you get a set amount of days that you can travel (you can get on as many trains, ferries or whatever within those 24 hours. A tip I have is if you want to go to more than more place in a country is use buses, me and my friends are starting in Split in Croatia and instead of using a travel day, we're going to just get the 10 euro bus to zagreb
Omg I'm from Zagreb hahah You're gonna love it and its also kinda cheaper then Split (not that Split is that expensive tho) if you are visiting during summer😀
One thing I would say is definitely try to fit in with the locals to a degree but don’t let this stress you out!! As long as you’re being quiet and not disrupting things that’s usually the most people expect from you. I was so nervous my first week in Japan because I thought there were all these complex social rules from watching videos (not made by Japanese people who would’ve thought) when in fact people are just people. Just don’t be an asshole pretty much.
it frustrates me how much more females gotta go through solo traveling compared to men. love solo traveling sometimes the female part can get overwhelm. it inspires me though that so many women continue to solo travel and don’t let the men of the world stop them! i even feel like more women than men engage in solo travel
Love the video! I really did take some notes down 😹. Anyways thank you so much for the video! As, I am going to go solo in 58 days!(The countdown is real!) I needed to know some helpful tips when I am solo! As this is my first ever trip by myself as adult as an 18 year old. I am going to Canada( Montréal, Toronto), Japan, South Korea, and UK(London). Cannot wait❤️❤️❤️
I definitely wanna backpack through Europe it's a goal of mine and has been for years but very nervous being female. I definitely enjoyed the tips and will remember once I get ready and all the covid restrictions end might be years but Europe will still be there.
I live in Belgium (quite boring) and i'm planning to do my first solo backpacking trip and I'm going to spain. Not that far, very beautiful, nice people,... so pretty nice dor the first time
There is also the website workawayinfo.com which basically hooks you up with host families that need help (teaching their kids English, gardening etc) and then you stay at their place for free and they usually feed you too! You only have to work about 20 hrs a week but you get to hang out with a local family and get immersed in their culture
About to take a road trip through Cali coast! If anyone knows any good places to stop or tips for a road trip please comment 🌞💕 Love your content Elena 🌸
You kinda touched on this, but screenshot your self check-in instructions from the Airbnb app as well as the Wifi password, because you need the wifi to look at the Airbnb app! And you won’t be able to see the check in instructions if you dont have the wifi

The interrail pass is only for european citizens, for everybody else there is a pass called Eurail.

Just don’t be an asshole pretty much.
Just in time for my solo travel trip! Thank you Elena!
i think im going to go to costa rica alone this summer, im so nervous but so excited
it frustrates me how much more females gotta go through solo traveling compared to men. love solo traveling sometimes the female part can get overwhelm. it inspires me though that so many women continue to solo travel and don’t let the men of the world stop them! i even feel like more women than men engage in solo travel
was going to ask for this video soon!! thank you SO MUCH for making this :'-)
*def the content i'm here for* ☀️
I’m going on my first overseas trip next month and I’m super nervous/excited. Thanks for the tips!

*would be doing this right now if it weren't for flight training, but soon! Scenery was just unbelievable* :)
This is such solid, practical advice... thank you!

Yes, this is a great idea! I’ve heard some awesome things about Work Away
You can also house sit!!! You can stay there for free and only have to take care of their pets
I am travelling lover as well and I used most of your tips .. thanks for this helpful vidoe

You kinda touched on this, but screenshot your self check-in instructions from the Airbnb app as well as the Wifi password, because you need the wifi to look at the Airbnb app! And you won’t be able to see the check in instructions if you dont have the wifi
stefunkyfresh ah YES forgot to mention this, so important!
