The fact he had the gall to say, "Tell your son we said Hi" is truly disgusting and shows just how strong that guys will really is. Hate to see this kind of person acting as a police officer.
It’s all good the last 3 years they’ve lost all trust, presidents even side w groups like Black Lives Matter they’ll never get rid of qualified immunity and for that 🤷♂️
from the stand point of policing it's actually better to pay additional attention to people with pending charges, so I don't think this part of "land policeman" reasoning is wrong taken in isolation ofc, you're right from any other standpoint
That cop is such a sociopathic douche. I swear, the min he said “tell your son we said hi!” I would’ve responded…”tell your wife I said hi, and that her money is on the nightstand, jacka**!” He was just taunting that poor man. Letting his perceived authority go to his head.
Given the circumstances, the father showed immense restraint. "Tell your son we said hi" and taunting him. Vile, evil little man. A special place in Hell awaits him and I'd pay to watch.
The way he starts to cry, not because he paralyzed the boy but because he’s scared to get in trouble. Officer had no regret until he was crying to his boss.
wtf are you talking about? How would he have any idea he paralyzed him? the guy walked out with a gun... FUCKING STUPID by the way.. then proceeds to walk back in the house with said gun.. Officer tried to make a calculated decision whether to shoot the guy or let and armed dude go back in the house to potentially hurt other people. after he was practically forced to shoot the guy.. he probably went into a state of shock not knowing if he made the right decision or not.. easy to type, not easy to know the situation if you're not there.
After shoting a man on his back while returning to his own house, being that he never threated anybody (but himself) - even if he was armed, the Texas Rangers' investigation find that nothing was done worng by the incompetent police force... Where I come from we call that corruption.
That's called "fawning". That poor family. Hell, this poor country. All of us are terrorized by these out of control authoritarians. It's a systemic failure of democracy.
More people need to actually treat police as the treasonous cowards they are and shoot them in the head like they deserve. 100% easy to get away with murder that cop would be dead if this happened in my family.
@Hatake0217 seriously. I think it's more about that she's panicking and making as many excuses as possible so she can just go take care of her loved one
I think it's important that he told "we say hi", so he expressed not his personal issue/attitude, but the position and values of the legal entity he represents while on duty (I guess it's that PD).
"You have criminal charges, that makes you a criminal" No dude, a conviction makes you a criminal. Its scary how many cops forgot about "innocent until proven guilty"
a criminal charge states that you have commited a crime which makes you a criminal so yes, the person who stated that was correct and you should google stuff before you post stuff like this and make a fool out of yourself
@@rainbowshibe Innocent until proven guilty. A charge isn't the same as a conviction. That's why there's this thing called court and judicial hearings. Get that through your head.
Flipping an officer off is now code for "I need help"! This public service announcement has been brought to you by the six most important words in the constitution: "These rights shall not be infringed!"
I get it now, all those kids in Uvalde were taught not to flip people off so the cops had no way of knowing that they needed help. If only the kids had known this is the only way to get these cowards to help you.
"I would turn to go! However everyone knows if I do that you will just shoot me in the back like the Spineless Yellow Belly Pig you are. Look at you Pissing yourself and reaching for your pistol already! You are A low crawling Cockroach piece of trash!" If you know they are going to try something, Go all out at how cowardly, Piss Belly they are.
This isn’t the first time I’ve seen a video of an officer claiming that someone flipping them off was possibly asking for help, and using it as an excuse to initiate contact.

Disgusting thing to say, but I'd do my best not to rise to it, when people try and get a raise out of you and succeed... you are telling them "I really care what you think".... you should only care what people think when you respect them
Update: the cop in the second video is on "indefinite suspension" (i.e. has been dismissed from the department pending an appeal) as of yesterday. His name is Derek Belcher, about as charming as he looks.
I just have a problem with the whole Judge Dredd mentality. When did cops become police, judge, jury and executioners. Is the punishment for threatening suicide the dealth penalty or permanent crippling???
Father: "You shot my son" Cop: "He is alive aint he?" Like wtf? what an asshole, not even unprofessional its way worse than that. Also: cop "Tell your son we said hi." super fucked up and criminal gangster behavior.
"If you got criminal charges that makes you a criminal" makes me think hard about all the tyrant's who are allowed to retire or transfer without consequences
The first cop, the one that fired the shot, was in the right. A suicidal person with a gun who is trying to become barricaded is a danger to anyone in the area. The laws in this country allow police to shoot someone who is armed and may put someone in danger of serious bodily injury. The second officer who is causing an issue with the dad needs to be fired and charged with harassment.
This is the perfect example of a "BITCH AS NIGGA, WITH LITTLE MAN SYNDROME!!!! HE'S TOUGH WHEN HE'S WEARING HIS BADGE AMND GUN!!!! START SUING AND MAKING THEM PAY OUT OF THEIR POCKETS!!! PENSION, I BET THEY WOULD THINK TWICE ABOUT HOW THEY TREAT PEOPLE!!!
Like I said when this video first came out, I really hope that it's introduced in the lawsuit. It will go to "depraved indifference" on behalf of the department
What’s even more disturbing is that they aren’t even remorseful for paralysing this guy. They are mocking the situation. I think they are the ones that need to be paralysed so they can see how much they ruined someone else’s life.
No dont say they, the cop who shot the kid was damn near crying in that one bit, he was absolutely remorseful even if he thought it was the right move, its that older supervisor that came out for damage control that not only defends the actions but is proud of it and is so offended that the father was upset he wanted to coax the man into laying a hand on him which would likely throw out his defense for the first assault on an officer charge, stack on top of it and throw him in prison for a large portion of the remainder of his life as hes getting up there in age, and likely damage the lawsuit against the station, this happened ages after the shooting and he probably flips off the officers all the time, so im willing to bet that old officer has been planning this out
@@kiyosenl.3889 I don't care if he cried, the cop is lucky he just paralyzed him bros thought he had killed him that's why he was crying, you don't just club the hell out of someone then cry and expect to be forgiven or some it aint how it works.
I can not believe that there isn't more of an uproar over this. The man had his back turned, never pointed the weapon at anyone but himself, and gets shot in the back. This is disgusting that criminal charges were not made against that officer.
i cant stand corrupt cops doing shady things.. but honestly in this specific situation, although i feel there are better ways for it to have been handled (while they were talking to the woman they knew that the guy was the only one in the house, so there was no immediate danger besides to coco, it didnt have to go to lethal force immediately) i dont fully blame the cop for not wanting an armed person to be in an obscured area where you might not know a gun is being pointed at you till the trigger is pulled
@@billrosenstein i wish this wasnt so true, but there are some awful cases of other races being hurt badly by police , but it's ignored most of the time.
I'm a paraplegic myself due to my own drunk driving 16 years ago, I hate myself everyday for that but am thankful that I was the only one harmed. That said I would never wish paraplegia on anyone ever , not even my worst enemy. I pray that they win their lawsuit
Now if he hadn't shot and dude killed himself and his girl and possibly another officer ppl would be mad at the cop for not doing enough. Like I said dude is lucky to be alive
No it didn't. If there's an active threat who you can only see from behind you take the shot. The idea that it used to be murder is idiotic. That doesn't make this instance a good shot, but there are perfectly valid reasons to shoot people in the back.
@@JohnDoe-qz1ql Yes, precisely. If it's an active threat it's a good shot. What direction you are facing can be a piece of circumstances being evaluated, but the idea that shooting someone in the back is never justified is ignorant.
_"Tell your son we said hi"_ OMG, save that line and make sure you play that in court. Just shows they give zero f's about what happened to your family.
i dunno, dont flee from the scene of a crime, dont refuse to come to the door when the police come to talk to you, certainly dont then come to the door armed with a rifle, then definitely dont refuse to drop it, holy shit never try to reenter your home after refusing all those lawful orders, and dude... dont do all this while your woman is in the middle of it. thats called a hostage situation involving a barricaded suspect. now you tell me anyone you know who could make a split second decision like that, and then endure months of harrassment from that idiot father without having a few words to spare for him?
@Pandas you have no idea what his mental state was other than he was inebriated, unless you claim to be a psychic. so what those two cops were confronted with was a mentally unstable, wasted individual who had just fled the scene of a major accident refusing to come to the door, only to arrive moments later holding a firearm not arms length away from them disobeying lawful orders to drop the weapon. are you aware that situations like that are damn near the most dangerous situations for an officer to find themselves in? throw in a potential hostage situation involving the girl and youve got yourself a high stress situation that this video and this comment section blindly refuses to see or acknowledge. i am all for accountability. accountability of police, but also accountability of everyone else. and this is a clear example of an intoxicated man, making every wrong choice. do you think real life has a pause feature? is there a narrator conjecturing motive or thought? do we have the ability to rewind and play back in slow motion? no. that shit went down in less than a minute
I think even worse (and meant to be just as intimidating) than the line “tell your son we said hi”, was earlier in the conversation when the cop said “yeah I was there that night”.
She did however do the other correct thing. Always leave your house and close the door behind you. We had training videos for teens from the ACLU to protect them from cops coming inside and eyeballing anything on tables etc. Your point is correct But people blank and she was trying to prevent her brother from emerging
he was obviously in some kind of mental health crisis.. only reason he would come out and put his own gun to his chin. You can't expect people in a mental health crisis to think clearly on what to do regarding interacting with cops
Uhhh they rightly should have raided the house if that is the case, the guy drunk drove his car then put everyone further in danger with a weapon. The only reason he's not in prison is bc he's permanently sitting down.
This incident is deeply troubling. The behavior exhibited by this police officer is outrageous. 🚨 #PoliceAccountability #ChangeIsNecessary #AccountabilityMatters #JusticeReform #AdvocacyInProgress #CommunityDialogue #PositiveChange
Wow, I saw the interaction between the cop and the dad on a public freakout channel once but the mention of his son being shot and being suicidal were completely removed. I had no idea the background of why the dad was acting the way he was and now knowing the context really makes me angry.
Man.. the amendment doesn't mean there are not consequences. We have to understand that as a nation. Back in the day you had the right to have a gun, but if you took the gun outside to exercise your right and then get shot by another American or invading army, well, that's the consequence to the right of your amendment. That being said, the cop shouldn't have shot him in the back, BUT the cops also have to worry about going home as well. Obviously this cop was not okay with the fact he shot him, so it was a split decision and not a rational one, so I am glad he was crying, shows there wasn't malice or anything in there. The guy could have went back into the house and shot the cops at any time. Yes the gun wasn't pointed at them... but there are a lot of windows, they have to make the area safe for themselves as well. No one expects a cop to not use excessive force unless a bullet was fired at them. A lot of cops would be dead and a lot of shitty people would still be running around. This is a grey area for sure, and it's really not an easy position to be in. The problem here is I can see both sides, you shouldn't be shot in the back, but the cops were also afraid of being shot at, any time while they were there. I'd argue they should have went non-lethal, but who is to say a taser wouldn't make Coco's gun go off and hurt anything or himself. It's just not an easy thing to have to deal with. If you have a gun and walk outside, then back inside, while the cops want to talk to him about an accident with his car... he does have some responsibility to his actions as well. The cops weren't just there knocking on random doors for a survey.
@@mothmanmk2547 Right, but again, that doesn't cover you from consequences for your free speech. :P Why do you think slander is a thing? There are so many things you can get fined, jailed, sued, etc for just what you say. I don't understand why people don't get this. :P
@MG's crochet hook it stops the government from silencing people, but doesn't guarantee you won't be prosecuted. That is why people are being arrested all the time. Even then it's still within restrictions, if the purpose of to cause harm, push harmful agendas like rebellion, etc. Basically there isn't a law by the government itself that says a person can't speak given the person itself, region, nationality, etc. There are still guidelines on what you can say to the mass of the country. It's never as simple as people want it to be, that's because we can't keep quoting "founding fathers rights" because it was written so damn long ago. It's naive to think something written back then will never change during the times. If they had a fill military and saw the destruction caused by full auto guns, I would bet my life on it that they would change the document. That all has to be reported to the state. This just shows Malicious intent on the PD's part if they don't correct that behavior. The fact that this officer was open with the fact that they shot and paralyzed this man that wasn't an immediate threat to them is beyond me.
Our legal system was built upon “innocent until proven guilty” but we are treated “guilty until proven innocent” what is wrong with our justice system.

Justifying absolutely nothing AFTER the incident, but the son's behavior and decisions were absolutely horrible and he was lucky enough to survive rolling his truck and threatening himself with suicide.
“Tell your son we said hi” As a LEO this made me absolutely sick. Cop shot him in the back when he was going through some serious mental health issues, paralyzed him, and they all just gather together and throw salt in the wound. Definitely not how I would’ve approached the whole situation + wouldn’t be cool with working alongside people like that.
I don't know what I would have done of a cop did that to my kid and said that horrible remark afterwards. Probably the same would have been done to him

@crazyturd143 "bloodless revolution" who the hell do you think you are? Where do you think you are? This is the United States of America. We have legal and political channels set up to deal with this type of thing. If you don't know how to handle issues like this without pushing for violence you are part of the problem.
@jimmycsays get out of here with your faux offense. You "peace" officers have been escalating situations into and resorting to violence at the drop of a hat while ignoring and aggressively resisting every call for change, and every type of passive resistance imaginable for years. You have no one to blame but yourselves.
I have said it before and I will continue to say it. It’s really important for us to start highlighting what would happen to a citizen if they made that mistake. Just so you guys know someone could’ve just came the gun at you and taking your wallet, but when they turn around and start running off if you fire at them you are attempting to murder them at that point because they are no longer a threat and you will go to jail. But a training officer doesn’t get in trouble for that.
That’s the law in CT and what we were told in Gun Training (Carry Class CCP) you can’t brandish. Only pull to shoot. But they have to be a reasonable threat. Protecting property isn’t covered, only your life. Ludicrous
That was my thinking as well. If a regular citizen can't shoot someone in the back why can law enforcement? Can both not be concerned about the safety of others as well as themselves?
not entirely true because of the gardner vs *some random state* you can shoot a fleeing person in the back if they threatened you or others with deadly force
It takes a lot these days to make me slack-jawed. This did it. The cop's sheer arrogance and cruelty in taunting the father and then saying things like, "Tell your son we said hi" is beyond wrong. The worst part is he'll probably get a slap on the wrist for this, at best. These cops are evil, sheer unbridled evil.

It seems to me it's antagonistic. Meant to send this man over the edge knowing his son was almost mortally injured. These officers need to be held accountable in criminal Court.

His son will never walk again but he shouldn't be angry about that at all yet at the same time think it's perfectly reasonable for you to be upset because he gave you the bird.
Yeah and he violated the father's constitutional rights under color of law, which could eliminate his immunity. Flipping off police and using profanity is our constitutional rights of speech and redressing our grievances with public officials. The cop tries to make these protected activities into crimes by threatening to take away his liberty by arresting him for disturbing the peace for cursing. The irony is the cop tries to say it is distrbing the peace becuase "there are people around" yet later repeatedly states there is nobody else there.
That is one arrogant cop. He needs to be fired. Flipping the cop off is freedom of speech according to the courts. The cop should have just kept driving. His parting shot about the guys son was totally uncalled for as well. What an arrogant jerk.
what that officer did to his dad was evil and cruel. I would hope that officer or should I say TYRANT gets fired. Really puts the emphasis on "protect and serve" Btw Erics song at the end was DOPE AF!
several court cases have upheld the right of citizens to use deadly force against cops. true change will come when that response becomes more commonplace
Thing about it is it doesn't matter if the cop does that or not if you put your hands on him you're going to go to jail aIl i can say is if you do put your hands on him you better make it worth it

The nerve to tell a citizens how to use or practice their 1st amendment is insulting and disgusting 😤
Man.. the amendment doesn't mean there are not consequences.

“Tell your son we said Hi” 😳 I don’t know how he didn’t attack that POS but good on him for not.
We are tired of tyrant cops, I'm glad for the lawsuit but we need them removed from "service" and jailed!
general population inmate.
And they won’t see a dime of it.
Shooting a no threat man in the back is attempted murder. A long jail term is necessary, a case for the States Attorney.
they need to fire all of the cops in usa and hire new ones tho put them tru some trainign cuz the current one onlly teaches u some laws and how to shot they dont teach u anything else usa police is just a bunch of murderers that shoud be jailed nothing else they shot kids for playing with toy guns taze a deaf man for trying to communicate in sign language etc
Jailed? Nah, society needs to get Japanese Seppuku on their asses
Amazing how quick the cover up starts. To the normal person you would think they trained to cover things up
We've seen plenty of videos of cops trying to "get their story straight" after killing someone. HTF is this allowed to keep happening? 🤨
Cops are professionally trained liars trained to protect and serve themselves
That father needs to pay that cops family a visit as well. They need to learn consequences .
Yup. Seeing stuff like this make me feel less sorry for cops getting ambushed.
The Mafia had a saying. "Revenge is a dish best served cold". I think it was the Mafia, anyway. Wait a couple of years, just long enough for him to think all is well, then roll up on him when he's on his way to church. Make sure that the only witness is the wind.
Little man was real tough with his whole batman utility belt full of advantages in a fight. Guy had his hand on his pistol and talking trash to someone. Douchebag.
How can it be that there's so many decent, intelligent and cordial Americans over there, yet none of them decide to become cops 🤔
because most of us are decent, intelligent and cordial, the ones that become cops are unpatriotic violent rights violators, and POS
Cordial and intelligent behavior goes out the window when you become a cop
1) Decent people don't make it through the police academy, they're weeded out. 2) Decent people are less drawn to jobs of authority and power like cop, soldier, or guard compared to evil slime who see these jobs as an opportunity to cause harm. 3) Their training includes surgically removes their brains to turn them into brainless robots who obey their programming which includes being loyal only to other cops and seeing everyone else as enemies. 4) There aren't enough decent, empathetic, rational people to fill the INFINITE cop-jobs in the police-state to "enforce" the INFINITE laws they've made to create an oppressive retro-future-dystopia of the land of the "free". 😒
Because of all the laws designed to protect cops makes the good one with good intentions turn bad. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. We need to end qualified immunity. Doctors have to carry malpractice insurance for when they make a mistake. Nobody is perfect. If law enforcement had to carry insurance for their mistakes and not rely on qualified immunity, you would see big changes.
Because they are decent, intelligent and cordial Americans.
He did everything he could to escalate the situation and nothing to deescalate it. In my opinion with the power he wields and the language he used it was nothing short of harassment.
It was absolutely harassment. 100%

As a father.....I'd have gone to jail after that little "..Tell your son we said, Hi."
You have to be far more calculating and careful. When you finally do the damage, you do it where it hurts the most. Also, never let them see it coming.
Also, you have to wait until the trial. You'll do far more damage with that than going vigilante. Vigilante is the last resort no matter how much they goad you. The goading simply makes vigilante justice okay if they trial fails.

That they put charges on an upset father for his behavior the night they shot his son is fascinating. This cop even called him a criminal while acknowledging the outcome of the case is still pending. That the prosecutor chose to pursue this case is curious. That the judge didn't summarily dismiss it is amazing.
IT'S NOT JUST THE COPS, IT'S THE ENTIRE F*ING SYSTEM!

11:13 Officer: "Tell your son we say hi." What a scumbag thing to say to a father whose son was shot and paralyzed by police. Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me. I guaran-damn-tee that those 6 words uttered by the officer cut the father to the bone. That alone should have cost him his shield. That must have been so difficult for the father, I can't imagine.
I don't think I would be able to show the same level of patience this man did. I guess he has more to lose than I.
Maybe he’s just biding his time. Revenge being a dish best served cold and all. He better have a good plan, he’ll be suspect # 1.
It seems to me it's antagonistic. Meant to send this man over the edge knowing his son was almost mortally injured. These officers need to be held accountable in criminal Court.

I felt my blood pressure rise listening to that officer harass that father.
Seriously, that is one of the few scenarios I'd be OK with an attack on an officer. If I was a jury member for an assault on that officer, I would give any reason to allow them not to take the full charge.
@@Lolatyou332 if a fight occurred and I was a DA, I would charge the cop and have the father as Self Defense.

So we are ignoring the fact that this person who was criminally charged before just simply has a extremly hostile and aggressive attitude towards the the law enforcement of the state from the get go? Also he just flips off a cop for an clearly emotional outburst he had. This is extremnly lowly scummy behaviour and just tells mne all i need to know about this individual.
Yes, that is actually insane and it would never cross my mind to defend such a disgraceful individual, ohh wait.....
