ALJEZUR - ARRIFANA (20 KMS)
The Ribeira de Aljezur takes center stage in the first 9 kilometers of the stage as we head towards the coast.
His will be the majority of the images we get as we climb through the Monte do Carriçal until we reach the Espartal Urbanization. From this town we will reach the mouth of the river in the beautiful Praia da Amoreira.
Then a succession of cliffs dotted with fishermen provides us with a setting as spectacular as it is reckless. We continue to admire these fishing fans and professionals.
Next, we arrive at the familiar and beautiful Praia de Monte Clérigo where we take advantage of its varied hospitality offering to have lunch.
Subsequently, the route raises the level of the cliffs and their sandbanks, chaining a fascinating shore that extends to the Ponta da Atalia, a ledge on which an ancient fortress/mosque of Arab origin was located.
After visiting the remains of these archaeological sites, we enjoyed other broken stretches of coastline before heading inland to reach Arrifana, a surfer's paradise.
