I think prime Henin would dominate today's women competition. I could be wrong, but this is just my theory. She would be more than a match against Coco, Sabalinka, Iga, and many others.
Because Maria isn’t that much worse than Henin as a player, especially on hard courts and she played the match of her life. She was flawless in that match and deserved to win.
@@regulusarcturus Justine was suffering a severe knee injury that she had surgery on later that year in October 2008. It was the knee injury + emotional turmoil (divorce in 2007 + reuniting with her family she hadn't spoken to in 5 years + brother almost dying in car crash) that made her retire. Same reason Steffi Graf retired despite winning RG + making wimbledon final in 1999. She had injuries and emotionally was spent. Didn't want to continue.
@@khv6748 I don't think it was too many matches. She only played 14 events in 2007. After her CM virus in 2004, she realized she couldn't practice every day or play every event like she used to. I think her commitment to being the best started to wane.
Henin's backhand and Kuznetsova's forehand..........pure power tennis!!!

@@timothylee2772 She would have a leading H2H against them, that's for sure.
What a great match!! Justine Henin has always been my favourite but also Svetlana Kuznetsova, such a strong player with amazing shots!
The amount of power Henin can generate is astonishing. I feel Svetlana is very underrated. She is a very good player
Henin what a great player
This tournament was great when top players actually cared of pre grand slam tournaments...
And this final was played on the Saturday before the Australian Open. And the players were playing this like a GS final.
Huge fan of Justine!!! Miss her on the Woman's tour!!!! Love Kuznetsova too and I always thought she should have won a slam!!!!
Do you realise she won the 04 US open and 09 Roland Garros?
@@orbitalwarrior clearly not lool 🤣
He probably mistook her for Dementieva
She won 2 grandslams😅
When these two faced off it is always a knock down drag out fight of the highest caliber.
Justin henin ia very good👍👍👍
I don't know why this justine was destroyed by Maria at QF of AO...
Because Maria isn’t that much worse than Henin as a player, especially on hard courts and she played the match of her life. She was flawless in that match and deserved to win.
08 AO was the best tennis of Sharapova’s career no one had a chance against her that tournament.

Henin almost burnt out her energy by late 2007 too many matches mental and physical fatigue

better than today's woman's tennis?
