- I loved this song so much that I begged @animwoodsy to let me work on it 😂 I’m thinking this may actually be the biggest shot I have ever animated at Disney. Affectionately referred to as “the beast” (261 frames, 7 characters and a fish) You’ll see that the dance ref wound up not being exactly what I needed so I had to improvise. Huge thanks once again to my wife for helping me plan it all out. (All characters animated by me)

If you listen closely near the end, both Isabela and Dolores say “I'm fine” in different tunes
isabella is singing the high notes and dolores the low ones
you can hear isabela in the right ear at that part and dolores in the left (with headphones)

It's the girl with braids who got flower in Isabela from the 1 minute music in encanto

If I had to guess, they do that so they can see the shape/silhouette of the hair more easily, since there's no lighting the hair would just display as pitch-black

@@tetept4 his hair is dark, which would be hard to find out to put the lighting and shadows of his hair to make it realistic, so im guessing they made it white so they can animate and put effects on it easier.

If anyone is wondering why they didn’t use motion capture, Cars was beaten by happy feet, a film using motion capture, so Ratatouille forth, they added a little symbol in the credits showing that the movie was not motion capture.

@@nana-uf5ql I think Disney thinks to win, you need to do everything the long way instead of doing the shortcut which is motion capture.
@@nana-uf5ql Motion capture can create an uncanny valley effect. The reason is because animation traditionally uses unrealistic, exaggerated, human-like characters that are not photorealistic to real humans. This is to continue the traditional cartoon style, and to avoid the uncanny valley. If things look almost completely lifelike, yet still look ever so slightly off, the character looks uncanny do to it’s close fidelity, yet it’s failure to replicate real-life. It’s the same with movements. If movement is too realistic, while the characters an’t completely authentic in human appearance, it looks uncanny. I know this from experience. So, key framing is used instead (the traditional 3D animation method), and this allows animators to create exaggerated movement that fits well with the exaggerated physique of the film. **Rough animation fits with Final.**
One thing the reason why "Mrs. Dead Fish" disappears and then is in pain is because Mirabel is remembering everything they told her and the characters we see are just illusions of Mirabel's head

What I really love about this whole final part is that the animation compliment de most noticeable vocals.
I think it's because of the individuals mouths being very open during their part and it make my eyes levitate to them.

Short answer: This is Mirabel’s imagination, remember? They aren’t literally there, dancing around her.

The Fish lady's design was what they were originally going to use for Dolores, but then they made her current design. The animators included it as an easter egg.
