Rika Kihira (Japanese: 紀平 梨花; born 21 July 2002) is a Japanese figure skater. Kihira is the seventh ladies skater to have landed the triple Axel jump in an International Skating Union competition, the first ever woman to land a triple Axel-triple Toeloop combination, the first woman to land eight clean triples in a free skate, the second woman to land four clean triples in the short program, and the third woman to land twelve clean triples in one competition (all the maximum allowed under the Zayak rule).
Kihira is a former world record holder for the ladies' short program, which she set at 82.51 at the 2018-19 Grand Prix Final and held until she was surpassed by Alena Kostornaia at the 2019 NHK Trophy.
As at 20 April 2020, Kihira is currently the highest ranked ladies figure skater in the world by the International Skating Union.

You could really see her potential. What I like most about her is that she isn’t sacrificing flow and the quality of her landing when doing her jumps. I’m looking forward to the time she’ll overcome the issues of her under-rotation.
But she is one of the few skaters who rotate their jumps fully. Her triple axels are even more rotated than that of Kostornaia despite the latter having a bigger 3A

She actually has landed 4Ts before, just not consistently enough or rotated enough to put in competition. She'll certainly need three quads next season for the Olympics, as you bet that's what Kamila is going for.
@@nicholasliu5788 yeah I think kv will go for three quads and a 3a and Rika’s long said her plan for Olympics is to gradually build up to 3A and two quads but I would love to see if she can jump 3 quads
I'm rooting for her, as much I love the russian girls, I just hope she wins

worlds might not have gone how she would’ve wanted, but i hope she can recover from her injuries and find confidence and consistency for the next season. i’d be so happy if she could medal at the olympics ❤️, no matter what i’m still rooting for her.

This training jumps are good...now she need to be consistent in competitions.
On the sal she just needs to check her landings better so that she doesn't have a hook on the landing, but everything else looks very strong!!

well, there are some URs/Qs here and there, but I'm still super excited to see her compete against Russians. hope the judges won't rob her of a deserved medal like in 2019
Eteri's girls prerotate a lot, whereas Rika jumps correctly and it's harder to finish the exact 4 revolutions.
She’ll be on the podium for sure! I at least hope! She has proper technique on her jumps while the Russians are sloppy.
@@iosebdzamukashvili5360 current judging system does not care about prerotation so on paper Rika's techinque has no profits.
Why would anyone jump nowadays with minimal prerotation if it's not beneficial. That's a real question.
@@iosebdzamukashvili5360 actually, it is the other way around- if you're jumping correctly, it's way easier to get enough air time and height etc etc. I'm not defending improper technique of Eteri's skaters, however there is not much of benefit to it if we're technical. not to say, all the awful technique with upper body overused simply gives you back injuries lol.
and the most important- ISU does not say anything about prerotation in their official guidelines, so unfortunately Anna prerotating her flip 180 has the same value for the judges as Rika with her 90

Who is she training with while preparing for World 2021? I get this feeling that Rika is a nervous skater so hopefully Lambiel can manage her nerves before the competition. Rika is someone that I can fully stand behind. Great jumping technique, good SS and flow, okay performance ability, a well balance skater. While the Russians like Anna have superior musicality, her bad jumping technique is something that I could not put aside. Hope she can show her full potential in World 2021.
Rika was in Colorado Springs lately (for 2 weeks at least) where she was training with Catharina Lindgren (who coached Yuna Kim and Mirai Nagasu for example). Now she's back in Champery so I believe Stephane will accompany her at Worlds. The footage above was made both in Palladium de Champery (before Japanese Nationals iirc) and in Colorado Springs a few days ago.

I can’t imagine the pressure she is under right now. Everyone’s saying she must skate two clean programs to have a chance at a medal and she sure must think the same. And there are Russians who have nothing to worry about bc even if they make some mistakes Rusfed will find a way to secure their medals. There is skating knowing you will get rewarded for your efforts and there is skating you know you have to be perfectly clean to get those rewards.
Short program and doing a 3A3T will give her a miles lead.

Есть проблемы с докрутами, но даже при таком исполнении Рикой её контента шансов у Лизы, увы, немного. Если только Аня с Сашей наваляют, а этого бы очень не хотелось. Короче, будет жарко на ЧМ.

if she does these 3 big elements she will be unbeatable.
I wouldn't say unbeatable, but she is planning basically the same combined BV as Shcherbakova(around 116), while Trusova is a mystery(her BV at Channel 1 Trophy was 119) but I don't think she's going for 5 quads. It's very exciting, because all 3 of them can win gold with their technical content.
rika anna and alexandra will obviously be the top 3 for the world, but who knows who's gonna take the lead !
Speculating on this topic makes no sense, since everything depends on the way they feel and if they manage to skate a clean program;-) So who knows...

Да кто его знает, кто будет первым!!!! ТутБеридзе ещё та дама, скрытная. Вспомните, как она Мишина уложила на лопатки на этапах гран-при, когда Косторная на соревнованиях сделала триксели!??!!! И обошла Елизавету!!!! Вот был сюрприз!!!
Лиза на 2 место откатилась.... Какое было разочарование для спортсменки и Мишина, не ожидавших такой развязки!!!!
Не исключаю, что Щербакова либо лишний квад прыгнет - 3 в ПП или триксель в КП!!!!!

Думаю у нее самая лучшая физическая форма. Одна надежда на Сашу ,ее скрытый потенциал.
Rika will be the biggest competitor for Russian ladies. With 4S and 3A makes the competition more competitive.
if she will give us 2 good programs , something she never did, she has every chance to be on top of the podium. with one good program , she will still be on the podium. normaly she is much better than elizaveta

Классная фигуристка. И программа сложная у нее. И смотрится она дорого
И бохато.
Смотрится она совсем обычно. Ничего особенного .А вот прыгает идеально с шикарным выездом,уверенная, на лице улыбка.
А хореографии у нее нет.
Как прыгает в короткой : 3 аксель и каскад 3 аксель 3тулуп . Вот это будет да )))
На 4С недокрут, в каскаде 3А-3Т ку на тулупе. Что - то топящие за Рику это не отмечают. Вообще молодец девчонка, прогрессирует, а возрастная. Теперь только с "психом" сбороться всем девчонкам!

I think the costumes are really neat, I especially like the SP one. Definitely an improvements from last season.
The short program costume was amazing and unique and really complimented her appearance...free skate is a bit boring. But I think Rika has been too busy to get a new costume
@@Plaspos costumes are not superficial. They are very important part of the package. I respect your opinions
But the shot program costume makes her look short legs and broad back. I really like Rika. I just want her to look great and beautiful. However, if some or a lot of people think she looks great, I would be happy for her.
@@militasacasa7299 I think the SP coatume problem is with the short/ skirt has same color with her tights. It kinda makes her appeared shorter.

Рика стабильно ниже наших, только раз в ФГП была выше. ТЩК никогда не выигрывала. Но Рика нужна, единственная конкурентка.
