Some social wasps ARE known to recognize faces, but specifically the faces of other wasps. Each individual wasp has slightly different facial markings, so being able to recognize colony members is likely to help protect the nest from intruders. I don't think it's ever been thoroughly tested whether they can recognize human faces, so while it's not impossible, it's definitely not confirmed either.
agree on the Attenborough style of nature documentary, that's why Planet Earth and Blue Planet are some of my favorite boxed sets. Runner up on tv, the old "Undersea World of Jacaues Cousteau" and to some extent, Wild Kingdom with Malin Perkins, but good luck finding re-runs of that.

Hornets, when they plan to move their nest, will send a single hornet as a scout, both to find a good spot to build and to test the waters for the safety of the hive. if the scout doesn't return they will try to avoid the area to not endanger the queen. also fun fact: hornets are notably much bigger than other bees and they're queen is also much larger than the rest, being around the size of, if not bigger, than your fist.

And when you move around it makes the appearance of some edge there. But I think a boundary in your model's clothes is flirting with the edge of the displayed area and people are FREAKING OUT.
