Nice unboxing of the final 2022 Matchbox Collectors series! Haven't been able to find them lately. They used to be sold at Target and Walmart, but IDK why they don't have them anymore.

I think the scalpers/resellers/store employees grab them before regular customers due to the current diecast craze. The Collectors series is a hit or miss - so you have to be selective with what you buy.
Matchbox moving parts and collectors series are even more expensive here in the UK, if you can find them at all. I was lucky to contact a seller on the day he had the MR2s in, so I have one on hold for me. I am not impressed with the black tampo's on the roof, so they will be coming off and if the Toyota logo is bad on the back, that will come off too. I appreciate the close up look of these, I would have liked an orange bronco with opening doors, as opening parts are my thing, but I could not get one in the UK, I agree with you, why buy the black one, just put some better wheels on the orange one. I got a good deal on the MR2 at £10, but they are for sale for around £15 here in the UK with postage, it works out at about $25, thats how much we get stiffed here in the UK. I paid about $12 for mine, but that still twice as much as you paid. They dont all have opening parts either, there is talk of making them with metal bases, but I bet the price will increase too. I dont mind paying a little extra for quality, but when we pay over twice as much as the states, for the same car, its a joke.
That’s so much for one model - in my opinion, I’d personally pass on them and get a MiniGT, Tarmac, or INNO for that price! It’s been odd hearing how much Matchbox product costs in Europe as they were a UK brand, so you’d think they’d be more affordable and plentiful there than most places.
@@64Wheels Its a nice place to live, but the taxes are high and the price for electricity has gone through the roof recently, mainly because we are too dependent on Russia for gas, we should have built more nuclear power stations, but people are scared of the technology, they will panic more if the lights go out.
I actually really like the 90s Hot Wheels Diablo casting, especially the purple release. This current Matchbox is definitely better than their previous releases, but I still wish there were a few things different on it.
Nice🔥 I dig em not bad overall but I see your points especially for the price and definitely, I've been frustrated as hell but fortunately it only happened 2 twice but they were exspensive😡 like my high I lighting black beauty, payed 12.99 or 13.99 then it arrived with the black rubber back left wheel with a bump poking out on it, it rolled like utter s it, but I fixed it.
Agh that does suck. I think people in the hobby understand things can’t be 100% perfect, 100% of the time, but they need to be close a majority of the time.
I'm FRUSTRATED!😂😂🤣. Brutally honest review. And rightfully so. Somebody in qc on the production floor at mb obviously doesn't care. Mb is usually good. The working rigs line is awesome. The headlight thing is FRUSTRATING! For the price they can make them operational. Tomica put out a lambo diablo with a little slide switch underneath the car that makes the headlights pop up. Come on man! Nothing good at the family dollar today either😡🤬. Great review. Good luck hunting.
@@64WheelsOh Sam it made me so angry. I mean I grew up with this car for starters. I have a few older matchbox and one hot wheels ones from the early to late 1990s. I also have a lot of these such as the Subaru Brat, the SVX and several others. I’m still debating on getting the MR2.
Those older first Gen Matchbox MR2s are excellent for mainlines. The Brat is a killer casting too - I think I like the MR2 better than the Lambo, but obviously both have their faults ha.
I painted the tops of the headlights on a white mainline MR-2 and Sam it looks amazing. Had thought about doing a red one but was t sure if the red would match. If I could figure out a way of delaminating the clam shell and resealing it to the card I’d do one up for you and mail it to you. I used to embellish a lot of the cars that lacked the details such as headlights. When they debuted the Paul Walker Supra for example I bought several as they were less than a dollar at the time. Opened one and did the headlights and taillights. A few days later my friend wanted to buy it off me.
terrible quality control, it looks nice until you look closer, and realise how crappy the paint and tampos are. Mattel's cheaping out more and more on it's premium lines.
You owned a real MR2??? HOW OLD ARE YOU??? from your voice i figured you were in your 20s, but an MR2 is something i wanted in High School, and that was in the late 80s. I mean, I guess you could get a vintage vehicle, much like I could have driven a '57 Chevy (if i were rich). I wish Matchbox still made Matchbox. Hot Wheels doesn't give it enough love...because they USED to be enemies.
Haha I’m old and decrepit lol. I’ve been lucky enough to own a lot of cool cars including an MR2, a ‘69 Charger, several Bluesmobiles, a split bumper RS Camaro, and an actual NASCAR Oldsmobile that was used in Days of Thunder. If I quit buying Hot Wheels I could probably buy more cool real cars lol
@@64Wheels my first car was the 1986 CRX and i didn't even know the MR2 existed until AFTER i got my CRX...then i felt like i was cheating on my CRX when i had a crush on the MR2 at my school. Hot Wheels are better: I don't have room or money for real cars, and tbh, i LOVE Lambos, but i'd never drive one. i'd be in panic mode every inch i drove worried that someone was going to scratch it.

Despite its flaws, that Diablo is better than any castings I currently own.

Agree - it’s sad to see them going backwards in terms of quality and tampo design as many of the other 1/64 scale companies are getting better at it.
