  • Testing the Unico ULM26 Arcade LCD replacement monitor in my arcade cabinet. This is a 26 inch 4:3 aspect ratio LCD with a native resolution of 1024x768.
I'm testing it with several emulators all running it at native resolution with some shaders enabled on Mame and Retroarch to improve appearance on those emulators.
I've also tested Teknoparrot with this as well.

    hows the latency?
is this the same monitor they are using in their "blast" cabs that are coming out?
does it drop frames? i wanted to build a tate shmup cab, but i think im better off just using my sony pvm as the monitors instead ZERO INFO ONLINE ANYWHERE

I spoke with their online chat person and this is similar to the screen being used in their nova blast cab but I was told that screen will be higher resolution than this. I have not noticed any dropped frames. Yes if you have a PVM you are 100% better off using that than this.

is the new firmware update out yet? that's supposed to fill up the screen or at least let you adjust the sizes? does it just fill up 100% of the screen left to right and top to bottom with HDMI?
btw I made that control panel artwork forever ago lol..good to see it still getting some action!

not that I am aware of and not sure how an average user would update the firmware themselves anyways, there is no USB/serial port. I think there may be a jtag header internally but seems like a lot of work for a firmware update (that doesn't exist)
The CPO was ordered from gameongrafix.com/product/fighting-cpo/ not sure if they should be reselling your design or not but they are.

@@CraigKergald yeah...another dude on yt was saying the new ones are shipped already updated and I can email them to see if I get a new version of the monitor or not.
and gameongraphix gave me the free print and they are free to print this for anyone

I am presently working with their support on an issue I am having with the monitor, I don't want to disclose too much yet but will detail my experience in a future video.

@@CraigKergald I've been waiting for this firmware update since January to purchase one. I know that there isn't a user-friendly way to update via hardwire so I'd rather wait.
I'm happy to wait for you to post more updates on firmware but do you have a rough timeline on when you think they'll release it?

I have no more insight into Unico's release schedule / business practices then you or anyone else. I suspect there will never be a user upgradable firmware however I do suspect they may of quietly updated the firmware in production for newer models. I had problems with my original unit and they shipped me a new one, let me know what you would like me to test and I can confirm if the newest ones have that issue corrected or not. My new one was shipped directly from them about 2 weeks ago.

There's something very wrong about an lcd is an arcade cabinet...

While I understand the argument especially when trying to keep a game original. This particular LCD offers a lot of advantages over other LCD options, mostly the CGA/EGA inputs and proper aspect ratio.

CRT screens are about to disappear for ever anyway, so it's better to replace them than doing nothing

Completely agree, which is why I haven't bought one yet.
However if I can't fix my WG k7000 series monitor I just ordered parts for, I may switch to this for my Neo Geo.
I am glad someone finally made a 4:3 arcade monitor replacement LCD, cause those 16:9 ones piss me off.

@@itchyisvegeta You're better off mounting a 42" OLED in a cabinet vertically than this. You get more resolution, better response time, lower input lag, and variable refresh.
