The breath box is awesome, completely made the winter cold bearable. The only downside is the amount of condensation you're going to accumulate so be sure to air out the helmet.
The day you don't take a break in such a spot is the one that will disappoint me! Now I'm itching to get back out riding and camping. The shop finally finished going over my 98 BMW R1100R so I'm back on two wheels, just work keeping me very busy.
I think it's fabulous that American campsites always seem to provide a picnic table. In Australia, we get zilch and I end up doing my food prep on the ground, except in the sites where they have a camp kitchen, though those are sometimes closed at the moment because of covid. Great video, love the dancing and flight of the magpie around your tent with the fly!
Such a great video. Best one ever. Absolutely amazing b-roll, smooth pans, fabulous food photography and impressive strength to manage all that on your own. I don’t think I can camp without my wife and certainly not have the energy to film it all. What a beautiful adventure you shared. ♥️
What a fantastic campsite. I really appreciate all the advice and the work you put into your videos. They always come out great and I'm always left wanting to get out into the woods for some adventure. Cheers from Prince Edward Island.
I carry a sleeping sheet. Build like a sleeping bag, made from cotton sheet material. Adds options when it's cold or too warm for the sleeping bag. I use a 40' rated bag. Riding jacket makes a good blanket.
Dude this video better blow up because your video skills and pure awesomeness shine through like the sun here. I LOVE THIS!!! It makes me want to get out a camp, you're doing a great job! ❤❤❤
Today in Massachusetts it was 60 degrees. I picked my motorcycle up from the shop (valve clearance check and oil/filter change) this afternoon and got in a nice 60 mile ride before the bottom fell out of the warm weather. It was great to be able to feel the freedom of unrestricted movement after being quarantined for such a long time. As always, Thank you for sharing your adventures (and mis-adventures....remembering the broken wrist video).... all the cool stuff you got was quite interesting..... Be safe...
Born in Oregon, grew up in Washington. Lived in the Dalles. I’ve been in Texas 14 years now. Love watching these videos and seeing the sights again. Awesome video.
Cold moto camping is the best. No other fools like us are out there. It's always the best to be the only moto out there. Adv cred! Or just plain crazy = passionate.
I did a 3500 mile trip in Oct 2020 and there’s something cool about getting out on your own on your bike like this and seeing so much, camping and enjoying life.
Sometimes in super cold nights expedition campers will put closed cell foam pad silver side up and on top of air mattress style pads. The logic is that your bag/body against the air pad is still being sapped of warmth. By putting the silver side up closed cell pad on top you reflect the heat up, eliminate the wicking of body heat into the air chambers of air mattress and still benefit from the cumulative combined R value of both. In summer they do opposite. Silver closed cell at bottom to help prevent punctures in air pads, then air pad on top for comfort, then of course the sleeping bag.
I would have guessed the fisherman had a tan Carhartt jacket. Milwaukee Tools and others now sell battery-powered heated sweatshirts. Multiple battery packs could get you through the day or night. Maybe we will see a future heated gear video. Thanks again for making these videos!
The list of forgotten things as you were walking away from camera had me rolling laughing. I just did a test pack as if I was going on a trip and I forgot so many non essential but important things for me.
Hey Amanda! I stumbled upon your channel a few weeks ago and have basically binge watched all your videos. Thank you for sharing you adventures with us, I have learned a lot watching your videos and they inspire me to get out there (mostly on the weekends.) My wife and I live in Honduras on the Pan American Highway, ( my wife is Honduran) and we are doing a weeklong Guatemalan tour on my Triumph 800 at the end of the month. We are stoked for the trip and watching you has really helped us sort out our gear to take as well as basic planning. Aside from entertaining us, you are really providing valuable experience that we can learn from, thank you so much for that. Ride safe, be well!
Yellow/orange.... gold/orange... darn hard colour to describe. I've got too much snow to even think of camping right now lol.... but I've done a few freezing point nights. You're getting me excited for... well, June and camping here.
I love those Sea to Summit pot and kettle. I bought the X32 set (think that is what it's called) last year and it is so much nicer than a rigid metal pot if you want larger sized pot. It is expensive in my opinion compared to other options like a homemade alcohol stove and metal pot but it's a luxury I am glad I bought for moto camping. Thanks for making the video and being inspirational.
So many classic Oregon things - Safeway, and then your trip to the Dalles. I really miss not traveling back to Oregon and Portland last summer (damn pandemic!) Love all the great gear. With luck I may go to my first rally this summer (if the pandemic numbers are low enough) and will probably camp out, so this video is helping. Beautiful place for camping. Wish I knew about it when I was there.
Not new to camping or to motorcycles, but your channel (and itchy boots) definitely inspired me to put the two together this year. Made my inaugural trip this week on the MABDR section 4 and 3. Hoping to add video soon so that I can do 3 things at once instead of just 2 because why not make it even harder. Right?!? Anyway just wantes to say thank you.
@4:36 the rain fly dance weeeeeeeee 😀 My favorite as it reminds me of a time when I did that with all of the big beach towels and at some point tied it to my neck like a super hero cape. Rumple rules! Very intrigued by your camera mount and wondering if that is a strap mount of some kind. Not wild about the idea of an adhesive mount, they always seem to look sticking power. End screen: I guessed olive drab but it was a yellow- almost orange. I was wrong

Heavy sigh... I feel your pain. Just got home today after aborting a planned two week trip in AZ, NV, CA, NM and TX. The TX part went fine but at the NM/AZ line I was caught in a thunder snow... ten day forecast of 70s evaporated into "mid 40s', I headed back east and had 50 mph cross winds. Didn't take much of that to cry "UNCLE" and got the bike loaded and 19 road hours later, back in SW Indiana..... repeat... "Heavy sigh"
Those rapids were so pretty.. Loving the new camping gear.. My first camping trip of the season (I'm still on it) I remembered my pen but forgot my gas burner and all the wood was wet when I tried to make dinner the other night, it was a fun mission 😂

Hi there, most of Australia doesn’t get as cold but in Victoria they get very cold in the highlands, one trick we have here to try and beat the 🥶 cold is take a blanket as well but use it on the inside of your sleeping bag...means you have to take a smaller blanket but it does work and less to pack on bike 🏍...thanks for your vids great viewing cheers from Oz..😃👍⛺️

Hi Amanda love videos.. Yes been down the Gouge in 50 mph winds and was 30 degrees. On a Suzuki Burgman 400 super crazy bit also fun.. Hey can you post links to your Winter Gear please.. I've turned into a cold weather wimp...
Once you added all your layers at the end of the video you reminded me of the little boy in A Christmas Story when he couldn't walk from all the clothes his mom put on him. I don't blame you though because I haven't riden in the cold and FROZE.
Hey what a great show , your are so good at getting me motivated, Thanks loads , I enjoy your videos the most when your on the road , a real sense of freedom comes across, keep up the outstanding work, all the best from 🇬🇧
😍that brain bucket is nice. Definitely going to have to get sea to summit wears. So compact Have you heard of a tent bathtub? Replaces the ground sheet. Most high end tents come with them built in but the ultra lights mostly don't

Hi Amanda love videos.. Yes been down the Gouge in 50 mph winds and was 30 degrees. On a Suzuki Burgman 400 super crazy bit also fun.. Hey can you post links to your Winter Gear please.. I've turned into a cold weather wimp...
I love channels like yours. Great video! Subscribed.
Awesome, thank you so much! Welcome to the Magpie Fam!
Once you added all your layers at the end of the video you reminded me of the little boy in A Christmas Story when he couldn't walk from all the clothes his mom put on him.
I don't blame you though because I haven't riden in the cold and FROZE.
Another great video! Thanks for the escape!
Hey what a great show , your are so good at getting me motivated, Thanks loads , I enjoy your videos the most when your on the road , a real sense of freedom comes across, keep up the outstanding work, all the best from 🇬🇧
Thanks very much Duncan!
It’s back in the 80*+ range here again. Cool low 60* at night in central Texas.
JEALOUS
😍that brain bucket is nice. Definitely going to have to get sea to summit wears. So compact
Have you heard of a tent bathtub? Replaces the ground sheet. Most high end tents come with them built in but the ultra lights mostly don't
I do like it :P
Love this video, you are such an inspiration!!
