It is regime change under the guise of human rights and democracy. Iraq, Libya etc etc are examples. People have seen such dramas in various countries.

Democracy throughout Southeast Asia is not comparable to Western models of democracy but the average citizen has a higher degree of freedom while freedom of speech specifically is not guaranteed for certain things, sometimes not clearly defined things. For example, I'm an ex-pat American in a particular South East Asian nation with the largest population of all the South East Asian nations but I wouldn't feel comfortable saying which one. So yes, I believe democracy is possible in Thailand but it might be several generations of stability and adherence to rule of law before it can pass Western standards for democracy.

@@comradetoxic629 On the contrary, all the arab nations need democracy. Even if corrupt, is better when the people can elect its leaders than absolute monarchies and military dictatorships that ARE CORRUPT TODAY. If both form of governments (autocracy vs democracy) are corrupt, the democracy is still better, because the people can choose. And please, if you are an american don't bring the bullshit of the "constituotional republic" ,that's a bad understanding of your own politics, not all democracies are direct, the modern form of what we call "democracy" is "representative democracy" and it was born in the US constitution of 1787 and the french declaration of the rights of man of 1789.

I really don’t understand the complaints, we thai people voted in the last election. And the result was a coalition government, comprising of more than half of the lower House of Representatives. If that’s isn’t parliamentary democracy I don’t know what is. Yes the previous military government draw up the constitution thai people are complaining right now but let’s not forget - we also had a referendum to accept it or decline. Guess what? majority of the votes said YES. (I voted no btw and now I just accept it as our constitution cuz we have to play by the rule) I didn’t vote for the coalition government but I accept the votes of my countrymen, that’s what the majority want! Accept it people it’s democracy.
