My 15 year old grandson played in the junior Olympics over in Korea in January and Team USA won the Gold medal agains Czechia - he was told he is the first ever from Utah to play 🏒hockey🏒 in the Olympics. We are unbelievably excited for an NHL team here in SLC
To that point, both Colorado (NHL and AHL) teams use Colorado. If that's the case, and we don't end up with the hertiage of the Golden Eagles, I'm actually down with the Yeti!
We have more coyotes than grizzlies and Golden eagles combined. However As golden eagles are most able to have a live mascot visit the stadium i would say go with that one. 🦅

That was a fun game and Sakic was amazing. Canada was the better team as well. Now, maybe a Canadian NHL team can win the Stanley Cup. It's been so long since a team from that country won Lord Stanley's prize.🤘

'87 and '88 sl golden eagles won back to back turner cups. Several players from those teams played on flames '89 cup winner like theo fleury and ranheim as golden eagles were now flames top affiliate.

Seattle had the same arena issue when the Seattle Center Coliseum was turned into Key Arena as the Sonics owner didn't want share with an NHL team. seated 17k for NBA but 11k for the WHL Thunderbirds, who moved for a more moderate arena 6k+. Now reconstructed into Climate Pledge, both sports play unobstructed!

@@getube9I did go to a few of there games. I was 15 when they left. I also went to skyline high school whose mascot is the Eagles. It still feels like a crutch mascot when the school board can’t think of a better name for their school, so they go with something like the Bears or the Tigers, etc. That’s not to mention you have the golden Knights eight hours away. Another side of this is that the new NHL club’s fans won’t feel the nostalgia with the Golden Eagles even if you tell them they are supposed to feel it.
I can't see them being named the Golden Eagles just because of Vegas but, I can certainly see the name Eagles being thrown around. Salt Lake City Eagles/Utah Eagles? Maybe. I'm a fan of the name Scorpions personally.

the problem with Golden eagles is right next door there's the Golden Knights which could cause confusion or it would be a pretty epic rivalry
They should just be called the Salt Lake City Eagles. No need for Golden :)
