But what really fucked me up was a story in Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark where some guy goes around eating kids ears and noses, or something like that. For years I'd sleep with a blanket covering most of my face
The Owen Wilson movie you're thinking of is THE HAUNTING (1999). I remember thinking it was scary as a little kid, but boy did that movie not age well.
I watched Arachnophobia a few weeks ago. 🤣🤣 Every time a spider jumped out I was like Ahh! Woo! You got me good, you 8 legged freak. I hate spiders but I had to watch it again. Haha
Along came a Spider fucked me up when I was young and alone in the basement watching that movie.
That random constant car horn thing happened to me in college. I had to park in a back lot and I have no idea how long it was going before I found it. Had to pull the fuse to get it to stop.

The original Candyman when he’s getting killed by the bees, and Pet Sematary when the kid slices the achilles. Don’t know why I was able to watch those as a kid but they’re burned into my mind.

I was born in 2000 so DVD rental stores are a thing from when I was very little. The one that fucked me up on horror movies for like 15 years was just the cover to Dead Silence, the one with the puppet with the dead finger shushing you
I had a night terror after watching Blair Witch Project. Woke up in a cold sweat screaming and punching the wall. The dream still haunts me to this day. Never had a night terror before that or since. I think it was my brain just freaking out because I was two days from getting on a plane to boot camp, had like 6 beers, and went to bed right after watching it. Perfect storm.
I watched Nightmare on Elm Street when I was as 4. Turning 5 and starting school the only thing I remember was “no running in the hallway”
John carpinter’s the fog scared me so bad when I was a kid it made me afraid to go out into fog until I was a teenager

My teenage cousin took me to go see 13 Ghost when I was 11. I was so terrified, I had an asthma attack. So she took me out that movie and sent me to the theater next door with her friends to go watch Traning Day. Till this day, can't watch 13 Ghost 🤣

Someone had the smart idea to show Arachnophobia to my grade 3 class. Lots of traumatized kids and lots of parents calling the next day to complain. I have not watched it since that day.
Im surprised thats the part that got mike and not the found footage part of that movie. Unless im getting it mixed up with the other early 2000s texas chainsaw movie which i may, but that the answer for me. I legitimately thought that footage was real and even me writing this comment gives me goosebumps those scenes scarred me.

i watched nightmare on elm street wayyyyyy too young. I ended up with childhood insomnia for the better part of a year because i was afraid i would be murdered if i fell asleep. Freddy Krueger is the most clever and fucked up horror villain of all time.
Communion and fire in the sky fucked me up for decades. I had to sleep with the door closed and under the covers till I met my wife lol. Crazy thing though…those two movies fucked up my wife as well lol. So of course we had to watch them again 😅
