    I love your videos! I just came across them just today. Here in Hawaii much of the foods you cook, are what we eat here. Many of us are m8xed races due to the plantation owners wanted cheap help way back when. I am of 5 races, one being Chinese. Your videos make it possible to make favorite dishes for every day or CNY. This year I will attempt to make at least 5 of your recipes for CNY 2025. Question, could I make your Li Mai Gao ( not sure if spelling is correct) to have as the Gao for CNY, if I added sesame seeds to the top before steaming? My family don't care for the traditional Gao. Aloha🤙

      I'm glad that you are enjoying my recipes! Adding sesame seeds to the Ma Lai Gao sounds like a delicious twist-go for it. I hope you and your family will enjoy the recipes for CNY! 🌺

    I marinate with baking soda, soy, cornstarch, egg, and then oil.
    Sometimes I will use Shaoxing to reduce gamy flavor, and to help bring flavors together.
    Other times, I will marinate with hot sauce that includes vinegar, or a spicy brine.

      @@CiCiLi yes! I find that pork and chicken work best with the spicy brine marinade.

    what do you do with the oil after you done cooking?

    • @CiCiLi
      @CiCiLi  5 месяцев назад +3

      Thanks for asking! Here are my notes on the used frying oil 😀👉
      1. After frying, the oil can be reused if it is not cloudy and dark. First, let the oil cool to room temperature. Then, pour it into a glass jar through a coffee filter or a piece of cheesecloth. Store it in a cool and dry place.
      2. Throw the oil away properly if it is not reusable. First, let the oil cool to room☺️ temperature. Then, pour it into a non-breakable container with a lid. Tightly seal the container and toss it into the trash. Never pour the used oil down the drain, as it can clog your sink.

      @@CiCiLi thanks, I always wonder about that. It seemed to be a waste of oil if you only used it once.
