As a Brit, I've always been a bit ambivalent about our Monarchy. However, I've never, for one second, ever doubted the late Queen Elizabeth II 's total commitment, dedication and profound sense of duty to her citizens in the UK and Commonwealth - and indeed, the world! I lost my dear Mum (who loved and admired this wonderful lady) nearly 17 years ago, and that fact just adds even more poignancy to this saddest of days! RIP Your Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II ....
She used to take her young children, and then their children to the village shop for ice cream. Nobody bothered her. Treated as one of the locals. Greetings from the Highlands as we mourn the loss of a very precious jewel. She ruled with the heart of a servant. Rest in peace. Rise in glory
She was a truly amazing woman and I can't believe she has gone. She had a wonderful sense of humour, but also she kept to her vows and gave our nation 70 great years of service and kept going right to the end. But she was not only our queen, she was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her sons and her grandchildren. I'm mexican, I used to tell my grandma that she was elegant as Queen Elizabeth, Isabel in spanish, her mother's name by the way. My granny went back to the Father's House in 2016, now that Her Majesty is There as well, I fell so sad to see a figure that was part of me and my childhood as well. Also the rest of the world loved her, ignore mean messages, she was "The Queen" for some of us as well without even been true. Somehow our Queen also.

As a Brit who spent many years in America, and who never saw, let alone met the queen the sense of loss I feel today takes me very much by surprise. The British people generally have always had a high regard for her steadfastness. She made being an exemplary figure, and an example of fair play and duty in her position as head of the country her trade mark. I was very much reminded of how her style came through today as her son the new king greeted the crowds outside Buckingham Palace. A world away from the American president and his photo op In Lafayette Square where he cleared his fellow Americans with brutal force and tear gas.

She was 96 and lived a pampered life. I don't understand the fascination the US finds with the monarchy. Her grandchildren and family my condolences but people who put heads of State on a pedestal including celebrities I'll never understand that concept.

For The Queen to pass at her beloved Balmoral was a blessing for her since that residence was dear to her heart as she had so many good memories there of her husband, children, grandchildren & a place where she could relax and just be. She was able to let her hair down a bit if you will and enjoy her life in peace in the beauty of her surroundings. Especially in the last days of her life. A beautiful way to pass. She's is now back with her betrothed, Prince Philip, her parents, sister & other family members that have passed before her. Her royal duties have been fulfilled with beauty, grace & service to her people. Well done! Sincere condolences to the Queens family and all Great Britain & the Commonwealth. Technically it isn't really a castle, but rather a reproduction. The real castle was demolished when it was found to be too small, but only after Balmoral was built in the 19th Century. Sorry but England sure did a lot of evil under her long reign. If you want to give her credit for the good she has to take the bad as well, and folks who were negatively affected by the imperial colonialism that she aided are under no obligation to be nice today. Kind words but just one little correction, Philip was never titled King. It's a throwback to the patriarchal past of the monarchy, indeed it wasn't even until after her grandchildren were born that succession could go to a daughter with a younger brother. Because under Elizabeth I she could not marry without the throne transferring to her husband she had no heir they created a new status of "Queen's consort". Philip was titled as the Duke of Edinburgh to create no constitutional conflict as a King always outranks a Queen, in the same way Victoria's husband remained a Prince after their marriage.
The Queen entered military service during WWII, she wanted to be of service even then, she was also a mechanic. Not many can hold a torch so steadily for so long. Her fire has gone out, but she still shines for ever more. I never knew life with out her as our Queen.

Just as she promised as a young lady. She met with people we only see in pictures and read in books about. A literal history book she was. I'm mexican, I used to tell my grandma that she was elegant as Queen Elizabeth, Isabel in spanish, her mother's name by the way. My granny went back to the Father's House in 2016, now that Her Majesty is There as well, I fell so sad to see a figure that was part of me and my childhood as well. The British people generally have always had a high regard for her steadfastness. She made being an exemplary figure, and an example of fair play and duty in her position as head of the country her trade mark. I was very much reminded of how her style came through today as her son the new king greeted the crowds outside Buckingham Palace. A world away from the American president and his photo op In Lafayette Square where he cleared his fellow Americans with brutal force and tear gas.

For The Queen to pass at her beloved Balmoral was a blessing for her since that residence was dear to her heart as she had so many good memories there of her husband, children, grandchildren & a place where she could relax and just be.
She was able to let her hair down a bit if you will and enjoy her life in peace in the beauty of her surroundings. Especially in the last days of her life. A beautiful way to pass.
She's is now back with her betrothed, Prince Philip, her parents, sister & other family members that have passed before her. Her royal duties have been fulfilled with beauty, grace & service to her people. Well done!

Kind words but just one little correction, Philip was never titled King. It's a throwback to the patriarchal past of the monarchy, indeed it wasn't even until after her grandchildren were born that succession could go to a daughter with a younger brother. Because under Elizabeth I she could not marry without the throne transferring to her husband she had no heir they created a new status of "Queen's consort". Philip was titled as the Duke of Edinburgh to create no constitutional conflict as a King always outranks a Queen, in the same way Victoria's husband remained a Prince after their marriage.
The Queen entered military service during WWII, she wanted to be of service even then, she was also a mechanic. Not many can hold a torch so steadily for so long. Her fire has gone out, but she still shines for ever more. I never knew life with out her as our Queen.
