haha i got mine 4 weeks ago and jermey is my man!! so what we've got here .. together almost over 7000 bucks.? hahah big up to TE for that business starategie pretending to stop the production so ppl buy the op like cupcakes for a gear looking like a toy.........damn! my wife absolutely not happy about it.
Just by translating most of the capabilities of this audio instrument into visuals is a HUGE achievement. People like me that relies heavily in visuals to learn, understand and communicate have an instrument to make music. Without the visual aids people like me would have not dare to try and create music. This instrument is worth every dollar. And its the first time that such instrument relies heavily on visuals.
Subbed simply because you started to say "That are our-" then cut that off to say "So those be the OP-1 synth engines." That was beautiful. Your channel is dope!
Also I'm a new OP-1 user and am trying to figure the thing out and whether I want to make a spacey synth song or a lofi hip hop track, and how I might go about doing so. This series is very helpful in my endeavor. Cheers ♥
I just got mine couple days ago. Spent about 8 hour reading the manual, going through sounds, tyring to get my way around. Last time I ever studied this hard is in college. Years ago,.
The production cost is in the programming and coding, not in the hardware (it's not an analogue synth after all!). The components are "cheap as chips", but the manpower to code those components is not. Hence the high retail price..
Hey Jeremy, I finally got an OP1, it’s been a long time since seeing your first OP1 videos but I finally did it…. These tutorials are awesome, thanks a million !
Hey Jeremy, i'm not sure if you know but when you hold the shift key and move the knobs for the loop points to adjust, the moving of the loop points is much more precise and slower.
Wow, these videos are great! It's hard finding "how to" videos for the op-1 and I'm happy that you uploaded these! The hardest thing about it is learning how to use it! Thanks so much ☺
I really like your ingenious use of the splazzlefunt control. It seems to be the best you can get without having the glarbulator and fliffleplarf knobs, though if I were TE I would've at least had a bungzlap to tweak via midi (sort of like having the old gweezl slider on the plimptap which used to blob my nobtab)
I have Moog, Push2, Minilogue XD and Analog Rytm sitting on my table and it feels like I will not be able to wrap my head around them in years. This vid just made me feel that I NEED ONE OF THOSE. Darn you!
Releasing all this content at once is wonderful and gracious of you! Thank you for doing this. I've been watching your vids for a little bit now, and you produce QUALITY content. I'll see you on Patreon, sir 👌
Thank you so much for all of your videos, but especially these OP-1 tutorials & tips!!! You inspired me to purchase an OP-1 and I've mostly just been figuring stuff out on my own based on a foundation of your other OP-1 videos and the user guide. These videos connected so many dots that I'd been missing. Sincerely appreciated!
thank you for sharing your techniques and discussion. 👏🏼 the OP-1 really is a thing of immense beauty. so much sound design potential. it's like the iPhone of synths ❤️ wish I'd discovered it in 2011

This is such an excellent series of demos. It’s the first time I’ve watched so much coverage of the OP1 … I’m still not sure if I’m any closer to buying one though. I love using the playful music production apps on iOS, many of which remind me of OP1, though I’m not sure if it brings enough to the table to justify such a hefty price.
I've had my OP-1 for seven years, and it's going strong. The battery is still great, and I've had no other issues. I'm curious as to whether you've had the same luck. Also, even for experienced users, these videos have some nice tips. The OP-1 is still my go-to when I have creative block.
Thanks for putting this series together! I've had my OP-1 for years, but it is always interesting to see how other people use it and where they have discovered strengths in the machine. Cheers!
I just bought an OP1 used. I noticed some of the patches in the synth engine have clear volume drop out in the upper register. Is that a function of the patch or a problem with my unit?
More good, clear content - nice 1, fella. There was a moment a couple years back when the price of the OP-1 was madly hiked, at which point I kinda dismissed it as just too expensive. But as I learn more about it's very deep and wide functionality (largely thru your vids) it's actually starting to look like decent bang for your buck... But twice the bang of an OP-Z? If you completely dismiss cost, which of the two do you naturally reach for? Which is more fun? Or perhaps better - which is more inspiring?
I have both, think it depends on how you want to play/how you learn. If you prefer in depth sequencing the OPZ is far better as far as sequencing is concerned and you have the ability to quickly delete and edit what you’ve written which the OP-1 doesn’t give you. If you’re a visual person the OP-1 is definitely going to give you visual feedback the OPZ doesn’t. It really depends what you want them for
Gawsh dang I really want to get an op-1 now. I've been fiddling with music production recently and I've loved it. I'm broke af to get one of these though XD
When you say that the reverb is “Stereo on the tape” (strings synth, toward the end, spring reverb applied), what it means? Was that sound already recorded on the tape but you can still tweak the sound with the knobs?
Nah, I think that's a different thing he was talking about. Presumably he talks more about it in another video. I haven't seen all of these yet. But the String synth wasn't pre-recorded. He was just trying to say that the reverb is one of the only ways to create a sound in stereo. The only other way apparently being by manipulating the tape in some way.
When TE sits down to design Op-2, I feel like they need to invite RMR in for some discussion. Your input would be valuable. Ever thought of partnering with some manufacturer to design your own take on a hardware DAW?
Great tutorial, very helpful. Thank you! Is it possible that you are clipping the output most of the time? I think there is some nasty distortion sometimes which is not part of the actual sound, or am I mistaken? I don't have an OP-1, but I am hearing this strange clipping and seeing the red led on the meter flashing very often ...
Hey pal, why your op 1 is so loud ?. i mean your master knob is on half but your level leds are hitting top, mine is so quiet whitout adding distorion on mixer
Great video series! It really makes me consider getting an OP-1 for travelling. It would be great to do a series on the Digitakt. Is there any reason why you let the OP-1 clip so much? It makes it a bit hard to really hear what the synth is doing.
I just got my op-1 and the green VU led’s rarely go past the 3rd green led. I noticed in this video yours are peaking in the red. Is there something wrong with mine? I did a factory reset and when I pick the same synths as you the output is always only 3 LEDs. I haven’t been able to get the output loud enough to ever hit the red peak led even with 4 tracks going. *** I think I figured it out. Had to turn the drive up.
I’ve noticed a ton of artifact noise when running the string synth through the sequencers. Maybe the transients are clipping? It seems to only happen live, as the noise doesn’t appear after you record it onto the tape. It’s the only thing that drives me crazy about the op-1. It gives so much, tho...
Hi - I’m a complete beginner with stuff like this (apart from using a few Korg apps on my ipad). Interested in getting one of these, would it be possible to use it to 1) Record a short drone pattern in the Tape, and then loop / alter the pattern as it runs 2) Record sound from MacBook and record/loop/alter as above? Thanks a lot!! Great tutorial by the way!!

this is an amazing instrument but it seems that mst of the time it feels so glitchy and electro it feels rather limited in the timbres it is able to create, not they they are not interesting. i just wish is had a more traditional synthesis engine maybe the knobs could be multi functional by going through pages to access the more normal synth settings, osc types..etc... I just cant feel that by making this as qwery and weird as they could they kinda put themselves in a corner as far as the range and diversity of its sounds. It kinda puts me off. I had one for a while and could not get into the work flow, lack of piano roll style sequencer and stuff... was a bit too far from a traditional studio/daw set up for me.. I wish I could just borrow one maybe rent it for a while to see if it would be worth having as a mobile production tool then take those sounds back to the pc daw of sampler at home.. just hard to part with 750 second hand and then not be so into it again.. these sort of videos def helping me to understand it better..
