    I spent a day at Burnt Mill during my apprenticeship and the team were so kind to me! I kegged off some Solar Dawn for them that was being exported to Japan!! They even sent me back to Colchester Brewery with a mixed case of fresh beer, massive thanks to Sophie and the team!

    Great video. I live 12 miles from Burnt Mill in (SUFFOLK!) and am proud they’re local. Spent last Saturday along with my local home brew group with Sophie, head brewer, who tasted our attempts at their Beyond the Fir. Good people - great beer.

    Their Fog series was outstanding! Living in Norwich I am lucky enough to see their beers regularly in a magnitude of pubs. If you are looking to talk about/visit an underrated brewery in actual Norfolk 😜 I highly recommend you get on the London Liverpool Street to Norwich train & get off one stop from last (Diss) & visit Ampersand Brew Co! Superb venue with an excellent range of high quality brews! 🍻

    Circle of Onyx is great, as is the cold IPA they brought out recently. As someone who finds gluten a struggle, they are an absolute blessing in that so many of their brews are gluten-free as well. So glad that you have covered them here.

    Burnt Mill are one of my favourite breweries and luckily fairly local to me. So many fantastic beers...Pacific crest, Pintle, beyond the firs, helles and cool heights have been some particular favourites. I was very fortunate to have Sophie come to our home brew club for a talk last weekend who gave us some amazing insights into the brewery.

    Burnt Mill is absolutely one of my fav UK breweries. I have liked them from when they started and I think they've only gotten better. One of my go to's for a West Coast IPA (my personal favorite style) and they make great stouts too.

    Quite glad Burnt Mill is getting the recognition it deserves. Living a couple of miles from the brewery I might be biased, but they are some of the best, interesting and most consistent beers around. They release new beers very regularly and the local pubs and bottle shops are pretty reliable for getting them in quick and fresh!

I was up working near them one day (I'm down in Croydon), looked at their website gave em a call for an order and I popped me head in 10 minutes later to collect.

    Burnt Mill are absolutely superb! I quite like the idea that they're not overly hyped and have remained under the radar. It means they can concentrate on making their beer awesome and not appeal to the masses.
    Another one that I'd say makes great beer and definitely not over hyped is Duration. I'd love to see you both go to West Acre and meet Miranda and Bates. I reckon you'd love their beer that's for sure.

    Not enough breweries (at least here in Eastern Canada) doing enough West Coast pale ale, and IPA. The classic pine, resin, citrus, non hazy.
    Ditto, even less doing black IPAs/Cascadian
    Don't get me wrong I like my NEIPAs, but I would choose a well made WC or BIPA over a NEIPA.
    Was a local brewery that messed up a NEIPA, decided that they could salvage it by throwing more hops at it, and call it a new age WCIPA. Basically was bittered like a WC, but looked like a NE

    This takes me back to 2018 when the British craft beer industry was obsessed with NEIPA we had the likes of Cloudwater and Verdant leading the charge.the vast amount of beer in bottle shops and bars were NEIPA we wanted our beer to taste and look like tropical juice with as least bitterness as possible. And then Burnt mill came along offering big bitter pin bright massively out of vogue WCIPA and it was mind-blowing! Such a brave move for a new brewery to make at that point in time they need to be supported at all costs easily in the top 5 UK breweries.

    From their website: “Gluten Free beer categorisation in the UK is below 20ppm. If we state that our beer is gluten free we use an enzyme to break the gluten down and test in house to 5ppm to provide the customer with absolute reassurance our beer is safe to drink”
    So really more gluten reduced not truly gluten free. More awareness needs to be brought to your side of the pond that this can still be dangerous for celiac drinkers. Hope y’all can help this clarification to happen! Burnt mill looks amazing otherwise

    • @TheCraftBeerChannel
      @TheCraftBeerChannel  6 месяцев назад +2

      To be fair, this is the legal labelling in the UK - below 20ppm is called gluten free, like in "low alcohol" is no more than 0.5%. To be truly gluten free would require the brewery to not brew with any gluten at all for any of their beers due to contamination and such. Not sure any brewery in the UK is offering that.
