I'm making this today! Where do you get your black mesh - had trouble finding it at dollar tree so spent a bit more for mesh at micheals and got some different colors and burlap at well in case I don't have enough

He’s so cute! That brocade ribbon really goes well with his retro style and I think it’s very classy!
Side note: if your cockatiel happens to have a metal ID band on one of it’s legs you can attach tiny puppy or kitten leash to it and then you don’t have to worry about escaping.
I had a Solomon Island Eclectus Parrot which is larger than a cockatiel but much smaller than a cockatoo. She had a metal band and I would hook her little leash to it and she went everywhere with me. Even when I lived in Key West with all of the tourists around I knew she was safe. She would ride around on top of my mesh cowboy hat and would climb down to sit on other people’s hands to take pictures.
If your bird doesn’t have a band, I bet a split ring would work.
