What an awesome adventure for you guys. Love those new pants! They resemble my FJALL Ravens. Side benefit for those zippers in the legs is it can, as my grandfather used to say, “keep the bugs out of your eyes”. 😂 That looked like an impressive hike too. Have pie will travel? 👍❤️
Great video. Tom and I really enjoyed meeting you both. We loved Capitol Reef and plan to return. Thanks for your unbiased product review. Looking forward to following along on your journey!
Friend just called, interrupting my viewing. This was the back and forth: She- “whatya doin?” Me-“ hiking Utah’s Capitol reef”. She- ‘whatya mean?” Me- “ It’s all about the pie and the pockets.” 😎
Looks like you guys had a great time in Capitol Reef. Cool hooking up with your friend. She looks exactly like the lady on TV commercial showing she has eye problems and she takes off 2 or 3 pair of sunglasses till she got the right one she needed. :)
Just got home from a wonderful fall trip in our van which included South Shore, Death Valley, Zion, Bryce AND Capital Reef! Watched your video on the road so made sure to get some pies and a cinnamon roll. Yumm! Thanks for all the great tips.
Early March we visited Utah for tour of Mighty 5 but due to cold snap, we missed Capitol Reef. We had to rewinterize the Pleasureway and since returning to Canadian cold weather we didn’t dewinterize again. It was a wonderful holiday but too bad we missed a this park.
Another informative video. One thing I love about your videos is that you are still actively traveling. We went to Capitol Reef in 2016 BRV. Want to go back to CR and Goblin Valley… when it’s not too hot or cold. You gave us some additional places to check out too. Wish you’d shown your rockhounding finds. BTW/ I’m all about the baked goods too!
Dear❤Debbie, I have been so sad...Life Happened...in the last 2 days...but your New❤Video felt like a big, warm hug...Love your new pants and a quick glimpse on your mocca❤boots again. Thank you.
Capitol Reef is the geography of the survival school (Loa, UT) my son experienced for 3 months in the Fall-Winter 1999. Smart kid who believed he could survive without rules and education. Wonderful home coming when he set up camp, built & started fire to prepare & serve his mother & me dinner. I cried for what he had become.
Everyone needs a friend like Connie....so much knowledge. I can talk to you about kudzu, ragweed, poison oak and ivy but I'd be pressed to find anything nice to say lol.
Enjoy that you review what you use, this is rugged territory and good clothes are a must! Looked your hikes , thanks again for taking us along with you, much appreciated.
Go to Capitol Reef for the pie-Absolutely!! I am all about the pockets too, love deep pockets and lots of them. I wish these great hiking pants would come in petite lengths. It's very hard to find petite and I hate having to cut and sew by hand, I'm not a seamstress. So I keep looking. Always enjoy your hikes with John and adventures with friends. Makes me smile! ;-)
Thank you! Pants are ordered. It’s impossible to find deep pockets for us girls. We also share a love of pie so I’d better keep moving. Happy trials. Hope to get back to Escalante soon. Beautiful place.
My memories of Utah are from a holiday back in the 60's. Pretty much all my memories are of Salt Lake City, another place that I want to return too. So anything else that I have seen has all been on youtube, and 98% will be Moab. I had no idea how beautiful Utah is. Definitely on my list.
FSTM. Hello,,a really nice tour&. area, did you find any amethysts?I bought a geode ,sliced in half as bookends many years ago.stay well safe travels 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I love watching your videos, the scenery is so beautiful! And John looked so proud to get you those cinnamon rolls at the end and stay under budget, it was nice to see the joy in his eyes :o)
Hi Debbie, hi John. I am watching your beautiful video from Assateague Island National Seashore in MD. What an experience to be surrounded by wild horses. We like this place so much, we are staying another week. The pant is nice. I like lots of pockets. Yum yum the pie!! Utah is so beautiful. Can’t wait to check it out one day.
It was you guys running your batteries down that made me want to see how much power it took to boil water. Doesn't take much cooking to get dangerously low.
Another wonderful video of a beautiful state accompanied by two very sweet guides. Love your work and look forward to whatever new video that comes next.
What a excellent adventure!!! Most of the time Nature is star of the show, in this case the pies are right up there!! Once again, a educational adventure and the added bonus of delicious pies. Keep up the good work. Thanks for sharing 👍 Safe travels
Excellent job editing....really like the "fade out" effect when you were walking along a trail. Thanks for your honesty on product endorsements, it adds to your credibility. So many YTer's are posting vlogs of the equipment they have in their Amazon store as we approach the holiday shopping season. Although you all did seem to endorse pie and cinnamon rolls 😊
Yes to pies & useable pockets on women’s pants! Appreciate the honest review - love the pants & the colour is beautiful. Awesome video - thank you! This area is top of my list and I definitely would have chosen strawberry rhubarb peach, too.
My husband and I were in Capitol Reef Park in June and we hiked the Grand Wash trail but we didn’t go up onto the rocks, the trail stayed on the same level that we parked (same parking lot where you parked). Never saw signs for Cassidy Arch. Bummer! But looked like you guys had a great time!
Wonderful video. Someday Peter and I will visit Utah. The mention of pies and rolls, which are a favorite, is not keeping me from drooling for a bite. They are not on my present healthy menu plan. My current yummy treats are fresh fruits accompanied with fruit flies🙄 I’m getting a pair of those hiking pants when my travel begins next year.
Thanks for a great video on one of my favorite places to visit, one can never have too many of those pies 😋. Ordered a pair of the hiking pants, I too love pockets. I'm 5' 8" and have extra long legs, it's next to impossible to find pants that are long enough, these are the PERFECT length. I normally wear a 6 and ordered the medium, they fit perfect with like you said, enough room for some long underwear for cooler weather. Haven't had them out hiking yet but they feel really comfortable, look forward to wearing them. I like that the waste is not to high or low, just perfect. Your reviews are always great, thanks!
Even at 5’6”, I often find pants are too short. Must be terrible for you. I also forgot to mention that they also have a pocket for knee pads. I ordered a pair for gardening.
Thanks for the video and tours. Like that area and now will have to hunt more for the pies out there! 🥧. Also, beside Lewis & Clark trail, I am a fan of John C Fremont who marked a lot of territory in the US, albeit somewhat of a controversial figure. Travel safe!
@@FromShetoMe yes it is and drove away from Williams AZ a few years ago with a whole pie made up of different pies that lasted for some time as the different pies were soooo tasty!

Hi there - we enjoy your channel. We recently returned from Capital Reef ourselves and what a great park and campground. I’m curious if you were there on 10/21-10/22 because it looks like our campervan in the background at site 36 when you return on your ebikes. If so, I regret we missed the chance to connect and thank you for your content.
You didn't show pictures of the Pioneer Registry. It is on the left side about a quarter mile down the Capitol Gorge Trail. There are also a few names carved on the right side of canyon wall. If you keep walking you will come to the Water Pockets
For some reason, I didn't get any video or photos of them. Must have had a brain cramp. I spent quite a bit of time looking at them and wondering how they reached so high. Were they standing on ladders (the way ancient people did) or is that how much material had washed away from the ground.
@@FromShetoMe The rangers said they stood on their wagons and did it. One of the names was done with shooting a rifle. If you look close, his name is written with bullet holes. This is our backyard. We live right here and we are very blessed to enjoy Capitol Reef in a daily basis
Great adventure. I love Capital Reef. One of the overlooked National Parks in Utah.

It’s been very reliable. We use independent mechanics because Mercedes charges twice as much.

While we drive or when we have hookups.
Very good...but no ice cream 🍨!!
They do sell ice cream at the shop but it’s disappointing compared to the pie.
