it really is a masterpiece. i saw them play this live at a music festival and a GIANT ball of yarn was passed throught the crowd until everyone was holding the string, binding us all together
I am in Australia and came across this band by accident while looking for some new stuff to listen to. Hands down the best band I have heard in a long long time. Why isn't this the biggest band in the world? ??
+TheFlutefreak I would say this video, aside from directly tying into the lyrical content, is heavily influenced by the film Waking Life. If you haven't seen it a lot of the conversations are similar to this song's lyrical content also.
If you like this video, as I do, you may want to check out the original video for the song "Hjärta" by the Swedish band Kent. It is built around a "red string" concept that you may find related to the New Sum video, and it is visually absolutely stunning, sometimes a bit disturbing. You'll need to watch it to the very end and to translate a few words of Swedish in the subtitles at the end to catch the meaning. The band Kent is highly popular in Sweden but little known outside as they sing almost exclusively in Swedish. But don't let this deter you from checking out Kent. They were one of my biggest musical discoveries last year - Hey Rosetta is so far my biggest this year.
i think its about the regrett the singer feels for not playing the childs game with the string the homeless person played. It a game you need 2 persons for and the singer realized after the concert that we are all tied up anyways, so hes regretting distancing from that lady on the street
I FORGOT ABOUT HEY ROSETTA....so glad to hear this masterpiece again.

So last Monday at Folkfest, some red yarn was going through the crowd while the band played this song. I had no idea why... now i know.
Hands down one of the best live performances I've seen. I saw them with the Jezabels in Toronto. I'm never going to forget that night
first there was the Guess Who. Then there was Rush. Then there was Arcade Fire. Now there is Hey Rosetta. The 4 greatest Canadian Bands.
Exactly what if feels like to be at a great concert: when you feel completely at one with the crowd. That moment, so beautiful.
Wow. Incredible animation! I've never seen anything like that!

TheFlutefreak it's rotoscoping. They animate over a video. That's why it looks so real.
