The thing I add with "the little block" is color pigment, can be any colour you want ;) the chemicals are from a Belgium company "Vosschemie BENELUX" search for it on google and the type of foam I've used is E60, mixing ratio is A100 + 35B
Hi Matt great therapeutic video to watch. I have some eva swimming floats which I’m using for a project. I’m trying to change the shape of them, make them square. Using a box frame and adding a foam chemical is my idea although they would still need to float afterwards. I wondered if you could suggest a solution to my problem, thanks Kieron
Would this be simple for large scale production? I'd like to build a motocross foam pit, and would like to do it as cheap as possible since I have more time than money. Thank you very much
Hola me interesa mucho tu propuesta me gustaría saber detalladamente todo los productos que utilizaste para la elaboración y principalmente su costo y si se distribuyen en centro américa específicamente en nicaragua, espero tu respuesta por favor.
Ok, So I'll try to describe it :) it's something like a marshmellow a bit... do you know those stress balls? Its way les than that... but more than a soft sponge :) I Left the MDF cube inside to give it more support, maybe you could do something similar? or buy a thin camping sleeping mattress?!
What is the ratio for the mixture and what is that other stuff that you add with the little block? Also, where can I get the chemicals for the mixture?
Squishies are a type of stress ball but it has 'slow-rising' every time you squish it. If this is not a problem then read on!: There are special kits for making homemade squishies and they all use this foam solution! (Just mix A and B, mix, put into mold and watch it grow!there you have it!) hopes those helps!
Please would you be so kind ant tell me what kind of chemical or chemicals you have been using to prevent foam to stick to the mold, and did the same thing apply for hard foam as well. Thanks.
Hi, I've used a special product called APW, bought it in my local composites store...dont know if its a brand-name or chemical name... It worked for hard foams as well! any polyurethane if I'm correct, other release agents wont work I guess
Matthieu Libeert Will this stuff withstand a lot of repeated compression? I have looked in the past for something like this to repair some auto upholstery foam. It's not the seat bottom, but rather one side of the back of a driver's side bucket seat. Imagine the spot that gets worn out first on a typical driver's side bucket seat from getting in and out of the vehicle. Also happens to be right where a lumbar adjustment flap mechanism is that adjusts how tight the sides of the seat holds you in, so trying to glue foam there is all but impossible. If this kind of stuff bonded to the old foam as it cures, that would be excellent. It's an old rare seat I can't find replacement foam for, so I'm looking for some alternative to repair the missing foam.
hi there, To be hones, I have no idea when repeated compression like in a carseat... Personally I dont think this is the best way to repair your seat...its hard to control the expansion and so on... But I think, it would bond to the old foam, Didn't do a lot of testing with this foam... you might try to find something similar like this foam and doe some smaller scale testing first
Matthieu Libeert Thanks. It's not a large area to fill, somewhat smaller than my open hand. I would just make it larger than it needs to be when pouring it on, and shave it back to final shape. Found a few small two liquids kits of this kind of flexible urethane foam on Amazon for $30ish in 3lbs per cubic foot density. Claims the foam can be used for upholstery cushioning, though if it were hypothetically a seat bottom repair, I would think a higher density is needed. 3lbs density should be fine for my application as long as it can stand up to a fair amount of repeated compression, i.e. continues to bounce back to original shape after being squished. Perhaps I'll give one a try.
Can you tell me how soft is this foam? I am having a hard time figuring out exactly how soft many of these various foams are, because the density is not a measure of softness. I'm looking for something that would be about as soft as a cushion, maybe a little firmer. My project is a back-rest of a homemade piece of furniture, kind of a sofa. Anything you can tell me would be appreciated! THANK YOU!
Hi Matthieu Libeert , nice video, quick question please I am in the lettuce Hydroponic business, just in a small scale I need a foam block with tiny little hole for the seeds that can absorb the water, it has to be environmentally friendly and biodegradable, you think this formula would help with my work? or do you have other formula for my project, thank you Matthieu.
Hi @@MatthieuLibeert thanks for your prompt response, I see your point, what I used right now is a product called Oasis foam block it looks kind of like the one on the video but for my small budget it is too expensive so I was hopping that you will have something similar to help me with my business, if you came across with the type of foam that I need please let me know, thank you Mattieu.
Can you direct me to a company that sells mixes that would create a foam suitable for running shoe inserts? It would be relatively hard, as foams go. Thanks.
Matthieu Libeert so i was looking for something to make fake cupcakes and i saw this video and thought this would be perfect because it stays squishy. which name brand would you recommend that i use? like maybe smaller bottles since i will only need a small amount for each cupcake liner.
MARIA TAVAREZ Sorry I've seen your comment that late, If you are from the US, try buying it online on smooth-on, if you have a composite store nearby try sking the for expanding polyurethane foams. you can choose between different hardnesses as well! Would work well for fake cupcakes ;)
+Matthieu Libeert (Mat's Prototyping) What type of paint did you use to add the color? I've tried acrylic paint but the foam doesn't end up drying properly. I'd greatly appreciate your help.
yes, I've used a green PU pigment indeed, turned out ligth green due to the combination of green+white (foam) keep in mind that adding pigment will influence the rise of the foam, it will normaly rise less, but depends from foam to foam maybe
That is the combination of polyols and isocyianade i dont rememder the exact name of this one but that is just 2 ingredient you can just add other additives like color
I can not really help you with the fact your looking for memory foam... this is normal PU foam... All the things I did can be done under "normal in-house" factors. You can just use you fiberglass mould, mix the A+B and quickly pour it into the mould and let it cure!
Can you give me estimates and quantity to create a flexible foam volume of 150 liters Chemical formula in foam printing with different levels of quality (density)

I'm having a look at this video, thanks to let show us your experience

Great video!! Do you happen to know how one can make poron foam please?
Are kitchen cleaning sponges made from this process or the cellulose - hemp fibre - Sodium sulphate one?
Can leather be formed bonded to foam in the mold? Cloud you please explain the mixing ration of chemicals based on the volume of final product?
This would be perfect for making my own motorcycle seats.
Fascinating!

Matthieu Libeert hi there, may i know what chemical that you used in this video? What mixture of A and B?
I like it!
I was wondering where i can buy that cain of foam. ??
I bought it locally, mine is from the brand Vosschemie. You can find it in most specialized composite stores, or if your from the US try smooth-on
is it soft ?
Can I ask what is the chemical use to make rubber foam
Can this foam be carved?

Just add the dye before mixing

did you add blue coloring to it?
Dark Green, but will be a lot lighter of colour due to the expansion of the foam
