I have been adding a shelter element to all my kits .. the minimal kits I add..SOL XL myler blanket which can be used as a tarp shelter... A small Mylar blanket .. and inexpensive disposable rain poncho... I generally carry minimum 50 ft of#95 Paracord .. if there's not enough room for 50ft of 550 cord ... To anchor the sol XL myler blanket as a tarp shelter.. you can use small round pebbles or carry some large round beads use them as anchor points on the tarp
I’ve gotten to the point where a lot of the tools & gear you carry in your waist bag are pocket carry’s or belt carry’s. Into a waste bag I put a backpackers tarp, gloves, hat, buff and e-bivy bag.
Pretty sweet! Thanks for the video! Goin ' to Allegheny National Forest any time soon? When I move back to PA , my buddy and I are gonna do a kyak trip up there. Haven't been there in 15 years. Awsome up there.
These are really nice, if I could figure out water it'd be a great dayhike pack for me. A bottle pouch on the strap is ok, tends to swing around though. You can clip one end of the belt to the top of one of the back straps so it'll lay better on your chest, the pad is a pain to put back on though. I just left it off.
Well organized pack and I must add, finally use for my commercial waist pack at which a lot of guys laugh. This vid has convinced me to actually put it to good use. Thanks for the vid. Educational and instructional in a lot of ways.
Looks like a good kit. I have tried different belt kits, Fanny packs etc for similar purpose and as a carry for hunting items. Most times I don’t need a 25-30 liter back back. Just something to carry few items, snack, first aid, light, etc without stuffing my pockets. At the moment working on a small sling bag. Not sure yet, I have found I don’t care for most haversacks as they are either to big or swing around to much, so we’ll see.
Nice little pack man. I have had some 5.11 gear in my time and I have never been disappointed with them, most recently a pair of tac boots that I wear for work which are extremely durable and comfortable!!

Is there away to convert this bag to a sling bag? Like hooks on the back to add a sling.
