How to Easily Beat Genichiro Ashina Prologue Boss - Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

  • Lock on to Ashina, strafe around him counter clockwise until you see an opening on his back, then hit him.
    As soon as Ashina goes into an attack animation, hold down the block button, back away until he tires out, repeat strafe and hit tactics, rinse and repeat.
    It's easier (safest) to avoid Ashina's unblockable attacks by backing away from him with block held and hitting dodge button as soon as the unblockable attack sign comes up.
    Be careful of his arrow attack in 2nd stage, try to dodge left or right. I'm not sure if arrow can be blocked, I never tried.
    Be wary of his long thrust attack that is unblockable, dodge/jump left or right.
    So easy a casual like me can do it.

    yo so i never had this fight. idk if it was a bug or a glitch or whatever but i dropped into the game directly into the well. would you be able to explain why?
