Mica is a culinary genius. HP sauce is exactly what we'd have with sausage rolls.
Well done, Mica.
i have salad cream
I don't pit any sauce on a sausage roll.
It's all down to personal preference, and there's no right or wrong.
WHAT A LOVELY FAMILY 🇬🇧🇬🇧🤜🤛🇺🇸🇺🇸
Hi Collins Crew, I just found your channel, can I say that you are great parents, your children are well behaved and polite, I think they will grow up to be very good people who appreciate everything that they achieve in life. I just thought that I would let you know what a good job you are doing.
Also congratulations for a good informative channel. Thank You
I totally agree (yes I'm UK and have just found this channel)
I have never cut a sausage roll up to eat it, as far as I know it is finger food.
Don't forget that those sausage rolls are made in the US and not to British Standards. Just compare the ingredients of an everyday sausage rolls you get from a store in the UK to the ones you had.
INGREDIENTS: Wheat Flour [Wheat Flour, Calcium Carbonate, Iron, Niacin, Thiamin], Pork (27%), Water, Palm Oil, Milk, Onion, Salt, Rapeseed Oil, Pork Stock [Pork Extract, Pork, Water, Salt], Parsley, Nutmeg, Sugar, Black Pepper, Mace, Ground Thyme, Sage, White Pepper, Brown Sugar, Cornflour, Onion Concentrate, Tomato Paste, Garlic Concentrate.
Doesn't sound like any Sausage rolls that I've eaten. Luckily we've got a Greggs in our village 🇬🇧
@@AncientBriton1948 It's both Tesco and Asda sausage roll ingredients.
Homemade means making it at home. Making the pastry, filling with sausage meat. Not buying ready to bake from a shop.
Amazing!
Sausage rolls are normally puff pastry but can be shortcrust pastry. If you used a croissant dough that is not right. HP and A1 are British. A1 was invented at Buckingham palace by a royal chef. It was called A1 when the king claimed it is A1 tasting meaning it’s delicious.
They are American sausage rolls. They are not imported from the UK. America makes all English food badly. Great video though. :)
Please check out some videos on how the rest of the world use cutlery, as in a knife and fork.
HP or Ketchup.
A1 was invented in London.
Try adding sugar or corn syrup, lol, sorry sarcasm.
Honestly don't look like Greggs.
I buy the frozen ones, and they have less meat, The meat also looks less appetising . Yours looked nice though.
I just haven't heard you mention the butter in the pastry though, which is one of the best things about Greggs.
As far as i know the A1 was bottom of the list of our prefered brown sauces, but was well received in the states. With the competition they just targeted your market and let ours fight it out.
Love this first video (That ive seen of you). I hope to see more, and you are planning a trip to try the real thing sometime?
Have you tried HP sauce with mashed potatoes.
I didn't know HP AND A1 were similar, probably would like HP then
A1 was created first, for the king at the time, but the uk public didnt like it, later they made hp sauce which the uk liked, buit a1 became super popular in the usa and so jsut moved over there, and you can still buy a1 in the uk but its not super common
Ketchup or HP goes well with sausage rolls
Where did A1 sauce originate?
A.1. Sauce - Wikipedia
the United Kingdom
In 1824 Henderson William Brand, a chef to King George IV of the United Kingdom, created the original sauce on which A. 1. is based. A popular myth has it that the king declared it "A. 1." and thus, the name was born.
HP Sauce is a British brown sauce[2] the main ingredients of which are tomatoes and tamarind extract. It was named after London's Houses of Parliament.
All the egg wash does is to put a slight glaze on the pastry always egg wash!!!
The idea of a sausage roll it hold the sausage roll in the hand and eat it like a sandwich
FYI: HP stands for Houses of Parliament and originally it was from the kitchens of the government until a chef used the HP mark to sell the brown sauce to the British public YEARS AGO,!!
Have you Tried Hp fruity sauce
My favourite essential with sausage and bacon
The sausage looks pale after it is cooked compared to what ours looks like in the states which may be why it didn't taste good.
Yes to egg wash. Egg and milk or water.
Breakfast sausage is good so I'm confused why if it is the same you don't like it????
Came here to see if anyone thought the same thing?
In fairness you need an actual British sausage in the pastry that have herbs and spices in it.
Sorry, but our sausage rolls are made with proper sausage meat that is full of flavour. Mica was right to be dubious. That sausage meat looked grey and slimy. More noticeable when you added the photo. You would be better off making your own from scratch with either filo or short crust pastry. A good sausage roll is great for a snack, or you can cut them smaller for use in a buffet. Don't knock the British sausage roll Mr Collins without trying one first. Glad your video popped in to my feed. ❤️🏴🇬🇧
Come to UK and try PROPER English food with proper taste so sorely lacking from American/ pretend English restuarants. We would love to see you and you are welcome anytime.
We are hoping to be able to get across the pond and experience the difference. Would also love to see our "American restaurants that are there to see if they are authentic!
@collinscr3w Lovely talking to you sorry I haven't tried a truly authentic American restaurant but when and if I can I'll let you know.
You're a great family.
A1 was made in Britain….
Those are not british, those are american made to look a little like british with the UK flag on the packaging. It's simple, you'll only get mind blown when you visit us. Best wishes guys.
Hopefully you are correct, did not prefer either that we tried here, thanks for watching
Please, If you are going to try English sausage rolls, try ENGLISH sausage rolls, NOT American copies.
It's really difficult to get actual uk brands in the USA.
I have an American friend who sends me pics of the uk/ World Food section of the supermarket.
They have products and brands that just don't exist in the uk, it's unusual to see an actual uk bramd on their shelves.
Tbf those sausage rolls didn't look too bad.
not cooked in oven long the sausage rolls have to be brown
What is confusing about the instruction: Egg wash pastry?
if it was already done, it would have said: Egg washed pastry
And, why the heck are you screaming at the camera? It has a special part on it called a micrphone. These microphone thingies record and amplify your voice. You don't have to shout across the Atlantic.
Sausage roll is a snack food. The meat is covered in pastry to enable you to pick it up and take bites from it. if you used a knife and fork over here you would get some very odd looks.
Definitely nor American if you consider that volume level shouting, haha, thanks for watching
You need to try English pork, steak or beef & pork sausages or Scottish Lorne sausage. American sausages are terrible in comparison.
That is nothing like our sausage rolls. The sausage is substandard and the pastry is terrible. The fact that the kid couldn't tell it wasn't a croissant proves it was not proper pastry.
Trust me, nothing will ever make an American sausage taste good.
