    JAKE STRINGER was traded to the GWS Giants for Pick 53.
    My thoughts:
    This one was ruled out about 30 minutes before it went through which is curious. While I respect Essendon’s stance to not extend Jake Stringer’s contract, I do question the decision to trade out a 40+ goal kicker who was contracted, without meaningful compensation. Perhaps they just felt it was in their best interest to look after Stringer here. Nate Caddy is a gun too - it could be his time to shine.

    • @spindoctor6385
      @spindoctor6385 17 часов назад

      That's a lot of pressure to put on a second year kid. He is going to be a gun, but perhaps it would have been better for Essendon to play him expecting 20-25 goals and anything more as a bonus rather than needing 30+ from a kid who is not yet 20. Maybe they are looking at somebody like Membrey as a delisted free agent.

    • @fartexplosion4480
      @fartexplosion4480 13 часов назад

      Essendon are probably sick of Stringer's behavioral problems. GWS are losing players, especially important depth players, so they've got no choice but to take on Stringer as a backup for Hogan when he's out injured or resting.

    • @aaronsalmon1376
      @aaronsalmon1376 11 часов назад

      Fair point about 40 goals mate. Essendon are trying to change their culture, (finally) and Jake, being a very good player, isn't good culturally.

    • @PogLaker
      @PogLaker 6 часов назад

      I don't mind losing stringer felt it was right after hearing everything thing about caddy and were also getting Issac Kako who is a gun as well

    • @spindoctor6385
      @spindoctor6385 6 часов назад

      @@PogLaker Do you think it is a step backwards in order to go forwards?
      I said a couple of weeks ago that the list needs about 15 changes to resemble a team that Brad Scott coaches and Stringer was probably on that list but there is no obvious replacement for a guy who just kicked 40 goals and can pinch hit in the middle.
      ( I am a Hawks fan, so I am harsh on Essendon)

    Konstanty was quite a surprise package for steak knives. But a welcomed one at that. For what North has brought in, I'm very happy as a North supporter to have recruits across the board. Daniel will release Mckercher up onto the wing and provide genuine skills off HB, Parker will excel as both Midfielder and HF for North and can genuinely bring the A grade skills to release LDU, Wardlaw and Sheezel to wreck havoc and finally there's Darling who'll take heat off Larkey, be a genuine 2nd key forward who has the nouse and condition to not only perform but mentor our forward line with leadership to boot. Konstanty looks to be a high pressure small forward and although he's untried, I think he'll certainly bring something in tbe way of already being conditioned from 2yrs at Sydney and will quite easily bring an aspect to North that we lack real deoth in.
    Very happy for what North has done and extremely happy with the idea of North open to splitting pick 2 for two first round picks (hello Richmond)
    Rumour has it that picks 6 and 10 could be tbe key in this as Richmond really want Smith and FOS

    • @dap3tan481
      @dap3tan481 9 часов назад +1

      Agree with you for the most part on Daniel and Parker being huge for us. Darling is a huge maybe for me as if you’ve watched his last 10 games he’s really lost quite a bit of form and may never return to form. But I think his main role is in leadership, not in actually making a difference on field.

    Richmond essentially turned Baker and Bolton into 10 11 18. Fantastic business (since Baker was initially traded with WCE for 14).
    With what Blair Hartley and co. were going through bts with the passing of Chris Toce (our national recruiting manager), it's incredible how well this trade period has been handled.

    West Coast definitely sat on their hands with Barrass early and have suffered massively. They lost pick 14 to Carlton that ended up at Freo for a 3 pick drop from their 11 and assuming Hawthorn will be better next season with Battle and Barrass and Sicily forward means WCE are looking at about picks 20, 40, 60 for Tom Barrass who is the VC of the club and definitely in their top 5 players (probably top 3)
    They also basically traded away 2 30ish year old players for 3 28ish year old players and have 3 draft picks to show for it with Tasmania coming into the draft in two years where it'll be cooked for 2 or 3 years.
    There is no possible way to paint positive light on this trade period, your ex tigers list manager folded at every point to maintain relationships with player managers and get tigers players in and WCE are going into a 4th year of mediocrity with 3 average picks.
    I'm not even bothering to talk about giving Carlton pick 3 which I heard Chris Masten joking about him being pick 3 means they may have dodged a bullet on the backchat podcast.
    Richmond have 8 early picks and more next year and are going to have at least 8 50 game players when the draft is severely comprised in a couple of years and West Coast are gonna have retiring veterans, no picks and complaining about equality and travel. This was their chance to really bolster themselves for the times ahead and they chose to sit on their hands and bring in more veterans.
    Let's on even start on the attempt to keep Harley Reid when this is the shitshow he's dealing with

  • @brendonrobbins6759
    @brendonrobbins6759 16 часов назад

    Kennedy simply wanted more midfield time so Carlton told him to look around. Owies was squeezed out because he was the only small forward out of contract, given the choice I think Fantasia would have been chopped in preference. Konstanty was on the outer as the young teammate that Mills wrestled against to cause his injury.

    Both Hawthorn and WC should be happy with the Barrass deal. WC get in future assets that they can use to either trade back in to this year or save for a tilt at Warner.
    Hawthorn are backing themselves to be better than Carlton next year. Overall, they paid pick 14 and a future third and got Barrass and a future fourth. And possibly upgraded next year's first and second rounders.
    I will be cheering against Carlton all of next year, may the wheels fall off.

    Do u think the reason Richmond wanted Pick 11 and 10 is because West Coast told they wanted to be in the draft before Freo to grab Bo Allan.
    As the 2 picks before west coasts are now conveniently Richmond and is likely to get attention around pick 12, there could be a deal that Richmond don’t grab him themself as they will have enough midfielders and would likely grab key players.
    It would make sense why the barrass deal was waiting for the Bolton deal to be completed

    The winner of the most frequent flyer points is.... Pick 14, it started at the Hawks, went to Carlton, flew west to WC then back to Richmond then all the way back to Fremantle.
    I bet the kid taken at 14 will be an absolute gun of the competition, just so four clubs can look back and say that they could have had him but traded the pick.

    We trade our future first to Richmond for either 10,11 or 10,18. We then trade 10,12 to North for pick 2 and get FOS and absolutely screw over Carlton as that’s who they’re keen on I hear.

    Matt Rosa said that Essendon wanted “adequate compensation” for stringer and denied Pick 56. I don’t know in what world Pick 53 is ANY better than 56. Honestly who are we going to pick in the draft that can be better or at least equal to Stringer when the pick is that low??? The ONLY logic I can see behind this trade is if we want to trade picks with some clubs to get higher up on the draft, but we already pushed back Pick 9 to get Kako so I have no clue.

    West coast are by far the biggest losers in the trade period. Unable to get a deal done a few days ago cost them greatly. If they got 14 plus future 2nd and 3rd round picks from hawthorn, they could’ve split 3 with Richmond and received 14 back plus another first round pick in this draft. Teams will be able to trade future picks 2 years in advance next season so they already would’ve had picks available to trade for Warner, just miss out getting another young player to develop for another season.
