Just come back to slay next year instead and hopefully you poeple will not have to experience another Blanka situation happening.
Loved her reactions again. Love to see her thoughts on the songs. She is always so precious and charming. Love you, can’t wait for more vids by you as time goes on before the shows happens.
It wouldn't surprise me if semi 2 will have more memorable entries for the casual audience, compared to semi 1 which is more Eurovision bubble focused!
Awww, I love this mother-son interaction ❤. My eldest son is 18, he's not interested in ESC at all 😭. Your mom is so adorable, I had constant smile on my face during the whole video, watching you two 😊.
I have a feeling like Denmark could barely squeeze into the finale at the 9th or 10th position, but we could also just about not make it like we've done the last two years, because I can see the song as one many would like but put somewhere in the middle of all the 2023 songs, and that's not enough. By the way Reiley is around 25 years old, but yeah he looks really young. I think your points about the potentional qualifiers are valid. Cross my fingers for Belgium so much, I think it's 50/50 if it will qualify, but I really hope so. Haha I had a feeling she'd like Andrew 😆
"Is that what it's like in an office?" "Yes." LOL Many years ago I worked for JPMorgan/Chase and I do remember that many of us workers had fun. I mean, not as much fun as the folks in the video are having, but still had a good time in general. We were allowed to have radios at our cubicles and many folks also kept small toys (fidget spinners weren't a thing yet) to play around with when it was slow. Definitely one of the better jobs I've had. I agree with you on your predictions. I think Mama Trish kinda shows that unless the staging for some of these songs really is memorable (I mean, she didn't say she liked Estonia's song, just that she remembered the visuals of the video which shows how important visuals can be.....Romania and San Marino seem to also suffer from visuals and audio not feeling synced up which I think she succinctly expressed that better than most people who've expressed that they don't like the songs but stumbled over words to say why). So I think of some of those songs can have memorable staging that it's possible the casual viewers watching the songs and performances for the first time may vote for them. I also don't want to discount the young people's votes and Reilley from Denmark seems to have a big following of young people (if you look through his social media accounts). I try not to discount that when predicting things because, at least in the US anyways, that is usually a factor as to why certain things happen on shows open to voting. Dancing With The Stars is a big example here. I don't even remember how many celebrities popular with tweens and teens have made it to the finals simply because the young people overwhelmingly voted for them via the internet/telephone (even when they didn't score high with the judges). He's also opening the show which I think the producers may have done precisely because they've seen his following and are hoping to draw the young viewers to actually watch all the performances. Since he's first they'll have to wait to vote when voting opens after the last performance and so that's why I think producers put him first (Denmark being in the first half pretty much made that possible and the producers took it). So it's the only prediction that while I agree, I put a huge asterisks next to it. And I also like San Marino's song more than what others seem to and Poland's, but I tend to chalk that up to my age (44) and being a gay American from the South where music like San Marino's song would be played at gay venues with live music and music like Poland's would be played at gay venues that are more casual than dance clubs (I believe the term "candy pop" is what one of my DJ friends calls it). Curious, was the person who asked your mom to say Harry Potter from the US? Just asking because I do know that when Brits come to the US people here get to where they ask them to say all kinds of things that your all pronounce and enunciate differently than us Americans. My mom works with a lady whose originally from Manchester, England and customers often ask her to say random words. She happily obliges them and doesn't find it annoying (she's about my mom's age and says she finds it fun), but I remember working with a guy I went to college with who was from Suffolk, England and he would get annoyed when people asked him to say things. One of my friends worked with a guy in his mid-twenties who was from Nottingham and while he didn't mind saying things for people, he did get a tad annoyed when people would bring up Robin Hood after they found out where he was from in England. He'd complain that Nottingham was known for a lot more, although my friend would tell him that whenever he first moved to Oklahoma he basically just talked about cowboys and Native Americans and how she was annoyed that that was all he knew about Oklahoma....and she's originally from Minnesota! LOL I grew up with an uncle from England so it's just a normal accent to me (I have family from all over the US, too, so really the only accents that sound uncommon to me are Australian, New Zealander, South African, Irish, Scottish, and any accent where English is their non-native/second language). I'm glad your mom didn't mind saying Harry Potter and its sweet that you'd both do that for a viewer! Great video!
You have to show her the whole of the Australian song it doesn't work if you don't watch it from the beginning. Well at least she liked one Australian!!!
Cyprus should qualify rather easily, getting votes from Greece, Australia, and a few other places, and likewise Greece has a chance (reference: ESC Tom). My worry with these acts is that we have not seen them live yet, and the vocals are not easy to match the studio version. Either might flop like Poland. We need to give more confidence to Alika, someone who already proved she can knock it out of the park live, same for Diljá. I am hopeful for the San Marino revamp (more like delivering a finished song), but voting wise they will struggle no matter what. Not picking Ronela means votes from Albania will be lower than otherwise could have been.
Gladiator was great refreshment song, guy is interesting but his vocals were on the level of Blanka. If he would replicate that voice from Polish final to ESC semi final I think he would not qualify. Speaking only based on his national final performance
Honestly, I adore Poland's song, even after knowing about the controversy. It's not my fave song, but I still enjoy it, and kind of hope it qualifies... Also Mama Trish's reaction to my country's (Australia) song was hilarious!!! That deep rock voice does come out of nowhere, huh? 🤣
Albania is very ethnic and emotional so you have to bear in mind huge the Albanian diaspora who will vote as mad for that song (count on massive points from Austria, Slovenia, Belgium, Denmark, Greece, Spain and the UK). I would be shocked if Duje not qualify. Romania, Denmark, San Marino and one of Greece/Cyprus seems destined for nq. Belgium on the other hand is 100% qualifier with that upbeat song in the sea of boredom this semi final is
Very nice and entertaing video, again!! My opinion for this semi: Certain qualifiers: Slovenia, Austria, Australia The ones I would like to qualify: Denmark, Belgium, Lithuania The ones that could qualify but don't stand out for me: Estonia, Cyprus, Iceland, Greece . The ones that I don't like and would not be sad about if they didn't qualify: Armenia, Poland, Georgia, Albania No chance of qualifying: Romania, San Marino.
Absolutely thrilled at Mama Trish's like of Belgium ❤ We absolutely adore Gustaph 🇧🇪 and want him in the final! Can we ask where Mama Trish sits on the pronunciation of "scone" please? Is it a Skon or a Skoann ?
So this is the problem with Poland. It can Qualify easily because casual viewers have no idea about the story behind it. Eurovision fans 1% Casual viewers 99%. Now calculate.
You have to remember that this reaction is to a music video though. The Polish live was a vocal train wreck. I don’t see them qualifying for that reason.
Hahaha. So the reaction to australia is the same as mine. Once it gets to that screaming bit i like noooo. But the rest of the song is great. They should take out the screaming bit imo. I do think the 2nd semi is weak compared to the first one.
There was a lot more to be excited for in semi 1, wasn’t there? Most of my favorites are in semi 1 - or indeed prequalified. In this semi I love Austria with honorable mentions to Belgium… the rest I could take or leave with the exception of a few that I dislike, namely Romania (just bad), San Marino (boring) and Poland (atrocious live vocal). The Polish song song itself is harmless enough but I can’t unhear that live vocal. I can see how someone only hearing the studio cut might think it cute though. It’s impressive what they can clearly do in the studio these days.
What are you talking about bro! Australia will rip up the stage 😅 They will be in top 3 of semi 2. Poland is most definitely not going to make the finals.
I did this with my dad not on RUclips obviously. He liked Denmark Estonia Belgium Cyprus Greece Poland Austria and Lithuania. He loves a ballad. Casuals have just as many different tastes as fandom so whilst I enjoy your mum's reaction, please don't pretend she's somehow representative.
@@colinafobe2152 two people have the same taste is not a significant sample size. I'm not pretending my dad is representative. You would need a lot more people to get a decent sample size as to what is representative. At the moment that is just 3 people's tastes which is on a whole completely meaningless. From that we can say everyone will like Belgium Cyprus and Poland (looks at fandom's innitial reactions to Belgium and Cyprus um probably not actually going to be the case is it? Innitial reactions were in general lukewarm with a small percentage actually really liking them) And no offense to luke but his opinions are not representative of the fandom, its one of the reasons I like following him, so if his opinions are not representative why would he imagine that his mother's is.

@@colinafobe2152 I wasn't being rude. He is claiming she is representative of all casuals. She's not. She's representative of herself. And great that your mother shares the taste. It doesn't mean that just because two casual women who share the same taste are representative of casual viewers as a whole. It's actually very rude to claim someone's opinions are representative especially based on solo data points which is what Luke has here. Its dismissive of all the casual viewers who will have very different opinions to Luke's mum. And as there are 160 million viewers in total of which fandom makes up 1 million at best and probably more likely 250k that is very presumptive and rude of Luke to assume that all of 159 million people will be just like his mum.
