I appreciate you, Harry. I laughed, I cried, I enjoyed myself! Thank you so much for your kind words and the passion that you hold for Hylics!
Thank you for creating what you create. Mason and your work sparked me to create these videos in the first place, that seem to entertain others - its enabled me to do what I love.
i sear to got chunky salsa appears everywere hylics is mentioned.
@@newtz. it's one of my jobs, lol
Hylics lore goes crazy hard
If you want to hear more of Vinny's singing I HIGHLY recommend his band Red Vox it's so good
even Chuck Salamone was a feature on his latest album Afterthoughts
Pretty cool how each character sort of receives their own style.
Wayne is classic psychadelic rock. Apparently, there was a bit of a running joke going around about Vinny being the headcanon voice for Wayne, which helps as Vinny and Chuck seem to be happy enough to collab from time-to-time.
Somsnosa is straight-up a ballad being sung by a narrator. It's been confirmed to be Dracula, which makes sense.
Dedusmuln has a huge jazz influence and weirdly enough feels more contemporary. It's also the most upbeat song in the album.
Pongorma is a way harder form of rock than the others. Hard to tell if his song is being directed at Gibby or Wayne.
Odozier is a Hylic-ised Disney song. Have to say, he's been quite prominent in the promotional material over the last year or so. I suppose that he's the next in the chain of command when Gibby isn't available.
Not hard to tell, his song is definitely talking to Wayne.
"There was no leader quite like you"
Gibby was never a leader for Pongorma, but Wayne was the party leader.
Pongorma also only calls Wayne by the word "you"
And Pongorma dies at the end of his song, Chuck confirmed. My theory is that Wayne killed him because of some of the lines like "Now you are the enemy" and things like that
@@galeb7850 it might've been the other Waynes, now that I think about it... there's a verse about "one versus many" and such.
@@Mike14264 I think the "Many versus one" verse is referring to the many waynes there are. Hylics got retconned, Mason confirmed in a stream that Waynes are a hive mind, so if one Wayne wants to kill Pongorma all of 'em do.
@@galeb7850 hmm, I see... well, except the one Wayne that was taken away by the Hands, I suppose that one was more independent, right? Or, at the very least, he probably wasn't around when the Waynes decided to do that.
I still think it's so on point that the first piece of concrete lore is presented via a musical, i love it
I know somebody already said this but I'm going to be an echo chamber if you want to hear more Vinny singing he has a band called Red Vox
Chuck Salamone even helped with a song or two on their latest album
Spell of Absurdity is sung by an "unnanounced" character from Hylics 1. There was a comment that suggested Clawman is singing due to the language used, such as "someone pinch me" and "flesh of stone". The tower could be the lab, which we don't know what it did except for making a lot of money. Convincing theory.
It also seems that most of these songs are set after hylics 2, with odozier lamenting about Gibbys defeat even after the reconstitution and Wayne’s group seeing the cycle that is happening. Wayne wishes it to end, so pleads for the hands in the sky to take him away. This happens at the end of hylics 2. It seems this is his last choice to escape his repeating prison. Dedusmuln is fascinated by the cycle, somsnosa leaves to find out her past and Pongorma is exasperated at the whole situation. It seems that Wayne’s choice at the end of hylics 2 has changed something for the worse in the world. My best theory is that a Wayne cult has emerged following his disappearance, similar to Gibbys devoted followers, hence the Wayne imagery all over hylics 3 teasers. They attempt to revive Wayne fill some sort of purpose, idfk. Games weird.
I'm currently editing my analysis video of this album, which was recorded before I saw this comment. I came to the same conclusion about Spell of Absurdity there. That *should* be coming out ... soon ...
The Wayne cult idea is very interesting. That would draw even more parrallels between him and H2 Gibby - kinda reinforcing the whole moral ambiguity theme in these games.
...in hindsight, the green-headed character, who we thought was Odozeir's heir, could actually be the Clawman!
It IS the Clawman, as it was confirmed in Mason's livestream last night.
The interesting thing is that in Odozeir’s song is that he says he’s given up his powers, and it seems like it’s a retrospective lament. He’s one of few characters to stick around after you squash him (“blub blub you’re too late” or something,) and he appears at the end of the game on stage. Maybe more characters than we think survive after being killed and emerge in the afterlife like Wayne’s crew, endless cycle-style.
You had nice first impressions, before you talked about how Spell Of Absurdity could be old wayne I really had no idea who was singing. Maybe it's just before Gibby turning everyone into mindless critters in Hylics 2, since the song ends with "This may be my finale but it is your beggining"
The narrator Spell of Absurdity being Old Wayne is definetly an interesting idea, but in my upcoming analysis video I actually came up with a different conclusion to who is singing (with some hints from Chuck).
I do love how the lore is so fluid that people can come up with different ideas / headcanons that still fit with the information provided. Heck, I did it here.
I'm thinking the third game might clear up some lore misconceptions.
3:38: that's also because that was the intended way to interpret the ending of hylics 2 apparently according to mason
4:15: well technically, mason and chuck are related too
4:29: he does have a group! called Red Vox, inspired a lot by bowie which means lots of different styles adjacent to rock in general, chuck has a collab on the last album
5:37: this is apparently both that and also how he's now creating a (new) character that he wants to be free from the influence of others, or maybe just with a persistent free will (most probably the character we've seen in teasers)
10:19: it's also a triple play on the story there: there's no moon (literally), there's no moon (regent), and the other moon (wayne) is absent
12:30: we don't know (yet) as it's confused. it seemed to be pongorma at first, then maybe old wayne, dracula or sage of computers, but even with full lyrics all we have is confirmation from chuck that it's an h1 character
I won't splurg too much in comments but there's like a few hundred comments from chuck himself in the hylemxylem and it's been just extremely great having so much story at once
as much as I'd wish chuck to also add which character is speaking for each line it's maybe asking a bit too much ahah
We actually have confirmation. As The World Begins to Wane is Pongorma singing, he's probably fighting Wayne because of the lyrics, I have no idea why. Chuck also confirmed that Pongorma dies at the end of the song
@@galeb7850 noooooo I didn't read that one 😔
mason and chuck really went like "here's a rad album building on every theme in the games, also all your favourite characters are gone"
@@RedstoNeman0 I wouldn't say all of 'em are gone because Dedusmuln and Somsnosa are still around and I highly doubt that they'll be out of the party
@@galeb7850 I'd say maybe mason wants to have a new party like alpha hylics 2 but then again I won't be surprised if they still are all part of the story at least
@@RedstoNeman0 I think they'll appear for sure and maybe for the first time you have options of party members, between using all new charactera or putting the old ones in your party
Vinny has his own band called Red Vox, you should check it out. his newest albums are killer
excellent reactions!
If it helps with the whole Dedusmuln pronoun thing, Chuck has said that it doesn't actually matter much which are used for Dedusmuln. They're nonbinary, yes, but also don't care about pronouns. So you're all good using "he" when speaking about them
Man, and Pongorma's song... idk how much you've analyzed or learned yet so I won't go into it too much but his song is incredibly sad. Good, but sad.
Chuck's confirmation was a shot to the heart, man. Pongorma's awesome (I also really like that meme about him, Wayne and Dedusmuln talking about gardening)
@@galeb7850 god yeah. Pongorma is my favorite of the four so his song is very bittersweet to me. I usually have to stop listening to the ending bit because I get too sad
@@galeb7850 darn...
I was just binging your hylics iceberg videos!
Those videos feel so old to me now, but they're how a lot of people originally found me, so I am greatful for them.
bro i missed you
Don't worry about calling dedusmuln "he" because pongorma and other characters refer to "him" as such.
In as the world begins to wane pongorma Says, "The explorer found the answers for the questions that [he] asked"
Yeah, for some reason I assumed it was "they" for the longest time. I'd heard it * somewhere * and kinda took it as ground truth. I recall Mason saying "they" ... somewhere (maybe in one of the livestreams?), but that could be false memory.
Maybe its he/they.
I guess that song clears up some confusion anyway.
Promethean's Lament has a more Fancy Meat Computer motiff than Xeno Arcadia.
🙂👍
