The Budshah’s Tomb

  • This structure is a heritage site built in the memory of the mother of the great king Zain up Abideen also known as Budshah - the great king.His reign of 50 years from 1420 to 1470 is regarded as the most peaceful period in Kashmir history.He waived off the jaziya ( tax ) imposed by his father king... sultan sikandar shah .He rehabilitated the people who had migrated from Kashmir.He promoted art,culture ,literature and architecture.He was well versed with Sanskrit, Persian, kashmiri and Arabic.languages.
    Adjacent to the BUDSHAH'S TOMB is the cemetery called Mazar e salateen where most his family members are buried which includes his father, wife, grandfather and grandmother.A total of 39 members of the family are buried here.Here also the graves of some of his ministers and chief justice of his government.
    This tomb is under the supervision of the archaeological Survey of India.It needs some restoration works before the damages become irreversible.
