The Basics of Isometric Drawing

  • In this video I quickly introduce the concept of Isometric Drawing and the Isometric View. We even take a quick tour of some video games that are in the Isometric View, and learn about Isometric Drawing Paper.

    Usually Y =height, x= length and z = depth

      I searched for a consensus on this, but you can find examples depicting each axis labeled each way. For my classes the 3D printers are all set up for Z to be the vertical axis and most of the materials that they worked with had it labeled this way as well…

      @@mr.peckPHS y axis is height because the cartesian plane (coardinate plane) uses y for hight and x for width which would make z depth

      We do a lot of 3D printing in my classes, and the up/down motion is the z-axis. This is what multiple (read “all”) 3D printer manufacturers refer to the parts that control the up/down movement “z-axis rods” “z-axis calibration” etc… I’m still going to be here waiting, whenever you have sources.
