As someone who used to live in Brighton, this is without a doubt the most "Hove, Actually" thing I've ever seen and I love it! I just wish I'd gone and visited myself when I was still living down there. I just love how they're using some fairly high tech solutions like CNC routing and 3D printing to build things that are essentially obsolete technology, and because of those manufacturing methods they can sell them at a price that's accessible for a lot more people. Been toying with getting a 4x5 and this may have convinced me to make it an Intrepid! 😁

I've been thinking about buying one of Intrepid's cameras in the near future, and seeing this was really good. It's nice to see how things are made. I'm only just starting my experimentation with medium format, so it might be a while before I move into a 4x5 LF camera, but it's certainly somewhere I want to get to.

A nice in between is the Mamiya Press with a 6x9 back. Prices are reasonable and yields a large negative. You still have all the ease of using roll film. You also don't need a tripod. Lenses are 50mm to 250mm. The 50mm gives a nice panorama view equal to a 21mm on a 35mm camera. Focus is a rangefinder. The Mamiya Super 23 allows for a ground glass focus.

@@ribsy Investment is the wrong word. It's the word people who buy art use. As an artist, I can't stand it. Some things are worth having for your heart. Having a hand-made camera is very much something you buy mostly with your heart.

A lot people particularly Americans criticise Intrepid cameras for lack of features or rigidity. Some smart guy was comparing one to an Ebony. For the price, they are incredible value. Yes, some features are lacking, but none is essential for making photographs. Show me an 8X10 field camera that could be bought for less than £600.00 new. I don't own Intrepid, nor am I associated with them BTW. My 4X5 cameras are Wista Rosewood DX, MPP MK VII and Cambo SF monorail. Thanks for the video.

I've had my intrepid since 2017--first gen after the kickstarter--and have really enjoyed it. Light weight, well made, and inexpensive.
It is nice to put some faces with the names.
