  • Jumping worms are invasive earthworms that reduce soil health in urbanized landscapes and forested areas. This invasive worm easily goes unnoticed and can unknowingly be spread by the introduction of infested soil from potted or transplanted plants.
Jumping worms have been reported present in Oswego, Oneida, and St. Lawrence Counties in the Eastern Lake Ontario Region, and are likely present but under-reported in other areas of New York State. Learn more about jumping worms on our website.
This webinar was hosted on March 1st, 2024 by SLELO PRISM and presented by, Annise Dobson an Associate Research Scientist at Yale University.
Dr. Annise Dobson grew up on a farm in the Ottawa Valley in Ontario, Canada. After completing her PhD at Cornell University, she began a position as a postdoctoral researcher at the Yale School of the Environment. Her research focuses on the impacts of jumping worms, white-tailed deer, and other stressors on native plant communities in Northeastern Canada and the United States. Currently, she is working to identify the movement of jumping worms and assess their impacts on soil and plant communities.
