I got a new pair of Gravel shoes the Giro Privateer Lace. But my friend Ron Really needs a pair if gravel shoes. If we wore the same size cycling shoes I would’ve given him mine. But low and behold Competitive Cyclist to the rescue. I used my gift card to hook up Ron with a new pair of Gravel shoes: The Giro Privateer Lace to be exact. I figure we would both be able to test These cycling shoes on a gravel bike ride with single track, wicked gravel descents and more. That way we could compare notes and pass them along to you. Been riding privateers for years. Favourite shoe. Comfy, durable and easy to walk (hike lol) in. Just treated myself to a new pair and the improvements are great. Highly recommended.

Got the privateers a year ago as my old giro republics were basically noodles. Great shoe out of the box but pain in the ass to dry them up after heavy rain. Was looking after good comfort and good looking simple shoe, and I found a match!

Oxygen or respiratory tubing fits right over your Sawyer mini and throw a carabiner or string thru the base of bag and you have a gravity filter. Let it drain into one bottle why you eat or rest, etc.

It’s awesome you did the artwork for those beers. We are from Bloomington but living in Japan now. We can actually get Upland sours here. I rode for Cutters when I was in school. Your videos are getting me pumped to come back to the US and get back on my gravel bike. Not much gravel in Japan.

All of Giro’s lace up shoes are pretty dialed, just choose the sole/upper that fits your needs and the riding you do and roll out. I run the Republic R and they’re super comfortable too.

Recently bought a pair of olive Privateer Lace shoes and love them. Also own a pair of VR90’s but these are way more comfortable and walkable!
First cleats I bought when I switched to clipless pedals. They been holding up well and are very comfortable. Awesome video as always!

I have an old pair of Diadora,'s that are always my go-to comfortable, do it all shoes, but maybe it's time for an upgrade!
I own the very same shoes and you're so right: perfect fit since day one, no need to break them out, gone to rough patches and they do cope. If you've got wide feet though, Giro's might not be for you.
I did this route a few weeks back with new shoes too! I got the SH-XC-5's. So much fun!

I got a pair for Christmas (after a huge pasted/linked hint) from my partner. Couple of hundred km per week since. Best shoes I've ever owned. Somehow they have road bike drive with MTB comfort. Fraction of the price of the old Sidi Dominator.. only shoe that came close. Love your content Dustin. Big aloha from NW Ireland.

Should try out the Katadyn BeFree water filter! Flow rate is crazy, packs up small, and doesnt require backflushing to clean it

That's about my pace with 1000 el. And half the distance. Btw , good on you gifting Ron, and did i say the breadwinner looked awesome.
I used the Giro republic lace ups a couple years ago and was sorely disappointed in what looked like a really cool shoe for about the same price as these Privateers. First of all the laces were just really annoying as it took a couple minutes to put the shoes on and off, and impossible to adjust them without getting off the bike. Second the pads on the sole wore out extremely quickly which meant I was walking on the cleat quite a bit. Yes they are replaceable but it's just too expensive a system given they only take a few thousand miles to wear out. Hopefully some of these issues have been addressed with this release. Sick vid as always!

I'm currently running privateers now. I liked them a lot but the tread got really shredded after a particularly rough hike a bike last month. Might get them again though

Not sure if this applies to your exact filter Dustin, but my Sawyer if you squeeze the bag and it flows way faster than any other filter I've used. Give that a shot next time you guys go for a spin!

I really like the shoes. Have been eyeballing them for a while now. The price tag is still just a bit steep, even with the discount, but mostly because I've already got a new pair of shoes on the shelf and I'm not exactly sure what size I am in giro shoes.
