Oh yeah, I am diggin' this all Blackwood EBW70C dreanought from Maton Guitars. I've never played an acoustic guitar with an all-Blackwood construction (back, sides, and soundboard) so I was curious about how the tone compared to a more traditional approach of using a lighter hardwood on the top... but man, I am so impressed with the balance, complexity, and controlled power that comes from this baby!

Where ican buy this gitar...please link
But if I hit the subscribe button wouldn’t that unsubscribe me? Then how would I ever learn to play as bad ass as you?
You all probably dont give a damn but does someone know of a method to get back into an instagram account?
I stupidly forgot the password. I would love any help you can offer me!
I used to work at Maton for about 3.5yrs. I can tell you they are second to none on quality. It would blow your mind to see how pedantic and perfectionist they are on their build quality and attention to detail. Way better than many of the biggest brands. If you get one of these guitars you will never regret it.
What if you get 8, does that cause regret?
The best of acoustic for sure.
Glad to hear proof of this. I want either a Blackwood or a messiah in the future.
I know this is 2 years later, how do they compare to Cole Clarke
Can tell I plays a few martins in the same price range and the maton blew them out the water
From this AUSSIE a big thank you for showcasing our great AUSSIE product. I bought my Maton 40 years ago this year. Its like a family member to me and sounds better with age. My youngest son who is a budding guitarist will inherit it one day to keep it in the family. Love your channel and your playing. Cheers from AUSTRALIA
do you know what i love about you Justin? it’s your wonderfully and love for beautiful things, beautiful sound, good music, and your carefully chosen guitars. you are extraordinary, because you are not pretentious, you love life and you share your moments of happiness with us. thank you
Beautiful guitar. Matons are iconic here in Australia. I grew up listening to my Dad play his 1968 Maton dreadnaught (way older than me, still in pristine condition), and it runs in the family as I have a Maton now too, it's my pride and joy. Wonderful to see them gaining more and more international recognition.
I feel it was people like Kieth Urban who got rather big in the states that people outside of our small population of Aus began to notice the guitar brand
I love my custom Maton, had it for 21 years it’s like my best friend, always available and always sounds beautiful, great review Justin 🎸🎸
I could hear you playing and talking about guitars my whole life man
Me too.
I spent 10 hours watching his videos yesterday.
Most peaceful 9/11 I've spent in the last 19 years.
Looking like I'm heading for a similar day today.
That is what I love about RUclips it dials into what you're into and sends tunes and playlists that it knows you are into.

Amen.✌❤🎸😎👌
Maton only make top quality instruments! They are legendary here in Australia! Cheers!
As a geezer guitar learner I promised myself a proper guitar as a reward if I stuck to a mind-numbing metronome workout for a year. I did and had my mind set on a Takamine. After seeing this video and one of my favorite guitar maestros, Justin, smiling while playing this Maton I immediately changed my mind and placed and order for this guitar. Thanks for all the joy you bring to this world Justin 🎸
That’s a beautiful guitar , I might have to get that
Any maton is a great guitar, the acoustics they are better at.
did some research on Maton Guitars. Wow, I didn't know about these. They have Peter Frampton, Tommy Emmanuel, Neil Finn and so many more and have been around as long as Fender and I never heard of them. The sound on your Floyd video sold me. I am going to check out SRS808C model as the smaller guitars look very interesting 😀 wow thanks
Laying the test run over the unboxing is brilliant. Beautiful guitar. Sounds very full for a dreadnaught.
Maton is Australian for guitar.
Only for the real players mate ,, yewwwww 🤙🤙🤙
Lovely guitar! Gotta love acoustics , there's just something about a acoustic sound that is like heaven to the ears!
The magic of acoustic is even the most horrible songs sound better. The good ones sounds like heavenly chimes.
@@samanders2676 I agree 100%! I love electric aswell but just something about accoustic makes the song even better!😍🤗🤘
That Maton is beautiful and wow on the sound. I have to go out and try this blackwood version now! These are great guitars and thanks for exposure for these underrated guitars
I am learning so much about guitars! I have a great love of wood. As you talk about the grain and the feel of the wood, I am recalling the stringed instruments I played as a lass. The wood seemed alive!
Thanks so much❣
I never learned to play anything but I recognize a pleasing sound when I hear one and that is an awesome sound coming out of that guitar.Thank you for sharing that with us.
I dont comment normally but i could not help it for this one. What a beautiful sounding guitar, i think its my favorite sounding acoustic ever.
Wow you called it , impressive !! A beautiful sound straight out of the box , wait until it`s played in , you`ll appreciate it even more . I`m from NZ , and that there is one of the finest brand of guitar made in Australia . Maton sure make a great sounding guitar and those Aussy musicians are top notch when it comes to Rock n Roll , Country and of course the Blues , cheers .
I found it appropriate that you unboxed an Australian guitar with a Crocodile Dundee-like knife!
Hah hah, epic! "Now *THIS* is a noife!" 😄
Maton is made even better while in YOUR hands,Justin!
Best wood in the world. Sorry the company is under lockdown, as are my friends in Melbourne. Papers please...J, you could play a donkey tail and make it resonate. Thanks. Love from ireland, as always.❤🍀🇮🇪
I'm here because of Joe Robinson. He's amazing and Tommy Emmanuel's protégé they're both amazing and they both play Maton guitars. Just about the best advertisement you can get for a guitar.
That is some sweet wood, and a beautiful rich, full sound. Awesome!
The finish on that is so attractive. Sounds great too!
Just loooooove that deep, silky dreadnaught sound.💓 Go Australia 🇦🇺
Great breakdown Justin. The more the Maton is played the greater the tone becomes. Much overlooked brand in my opinion.I own 2 of them. One semi acoustic cutaway 12 string and one semi acoustic cutaway 6 string. The 6 string I play more often and I've noticed over the years the tone has got richer.Much like a high end piano. Vety much a high end guitar at a practical price.Regards Mark
I have a natural series Maton bought 25 years ago and you are right they just get better like an old friend.
I said to myself when you unboxed it, "Geez, that is a gorgeous guitar. If only I could..."
Thanks for supporting a great Australian guitar Justin, nice to see you couldn't wipe the smile off your face playing it.
In my opinion, that guitar has a nice mellow sound to it. Beautiful looking guitar too. In the hands of a master, it sounds superb. Another great video Justin. It sounds dramatic with the piezoelectric pick up dialed in. Just the mike gave a totally different sound. What a versatile instrument. I enjoy your "unboxings". You keep playing and I'll keep watching and listening 🎧.
It's satisfying watching you unboxing and trying new guitar... ❤️ 😊
Very nice looking & sounding guitar JJ. I have seen Emmanuel & Urban playing a Maton guitar. I also like that the guitar is "Made In Australia" mate! A nice "Country Western" tune would sound great on that guitar! 👍😉
Any brand of guitar TE uses is good enough for me lol.
You'll need to review a Cole Clark now! Australia's other premier guitar brand. Personally speaking the pick up is better in the Cole Clarks but both brands make exceptional quality instruments
Cole Clark's are better percussive guitars, but have to disagree on the pickups - that AP5 Pro in most Maton's now is a very natural sound that is hard to fault.
That's a really beautiful guitar and it shure sounds fantastic, awesome video Justin & Nikki🔥🎶🤘
The beautiful sound of blues, no more words needed
I love the video quality, the editing on the thumbnail is really nice. Oh, and not bad playing that guitar either. Jokes, your one of the most inspiring to me and what keeps me going. And that is when you can say, mission accomplished.
Linda Kitchen would be proud of you making those excellent comments about her guitars. I own a Blackwood 808 and absolutely love it.
You must have purchased that guitar when you were here for the Port Fairy folk festival ? From memory, poor Melonie Safka sang the following year there,. Bless her soul.
Take care Justin, I love hearing your music.
Beautiful! My main acoustic is still the Maton I got as a kid in 1975. (US-made guitars were pretty unaffordable in Oz back then.) Still as good as ever, and she has a 1990 12-string as a sister too.
Wow, what a sweet guitar!
Nice camera work too.
GR8 detailing on her.
Thanks for making and sharing these videos with us J.J..

Terrific Review, really touches all you need about this guitar, besides the great playing.
absolutely gorgeous, such a fantastic twang in the tone :)

I loved everything except the Mic alone. Every other combo you tried was great. Nice review
Love Maton Guitar’s!! Beautiful guitar and case! 💙💙💙
love to see you play the EBW808 for comparison
WOW!!!!! I love that clean sound. Sounds super classic from my laymen ear. Just wow.
You are so professional and REAL! So happy to hear you discuss this fabulous guitar! And you play like nobody else I've ever heard! When are they going to give you a star on Hollywood Blvd?
That guitar is beautiful Justin! And you make it sing like no one else can
Hello from france

Hello from Germany! It was almost 50 years ago that I bought my first concert guitar.
Stunning guitar!
That's one nice guitar sounds amazing too Justin 👍👍
Nice Justin, welcome to Maton.
We love our Matons here in Australia..
Justin - like many , I could listen to you play all day. GOD has blessed you - you can make a guitar talk ❤️❤️👍👍✌️✌️✌️
Have a Maton Performer, it was love at first play.
Wow,I will never get a guitar like that you rock, I like the way your finger's dance on those strings
each time i see that grin of yours Justin i think hey i`m(justin) is lovin it!!
What an awesome guitar
The Australian tone wood used in Maton guitars makes them sound and look unique.
Actually this timber "Blackwood" is a very close relative to Koa from Hawai'i - the traditional timber for ukulele. Nice rounded notes for fingerpicking style.
you & Tommy Emmanuel & Maton......right? where can we get tickets? ;)
I'd pay to watch that show!
@@SIXPACFISH just....wow! and what a show that would be, right?!!!
Love the sound - so rich and complex! Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful guitar
Cutaways are essential on dreadnoughts, imo
Justin you make some wonderful sounds coming out of that guitar God given talent keep it coming!
Thanks for test drive.Sounds awesome!
"The sublties of the Tones."
You're like the Ken Miles of Guitars!!!👍👍👍
With such a good player, guitares render all there soul...
Sounds Awesome ... beautiful low notes ...nice mids Time for an upgrade
My brother you could play a #2 wash tub with 4 strings & make mary had a little lamb, sound like pink floyd. In my personal opinion your one of the best of the best. Keep jamming.
Sounds even better than it looks Thank you Justin
My personal dream Maton is a SRS60 in the rare ghost black finish with black tuners. In a country where so much local manufacturing and jobs have been lost to globalism it makes me proud to think that Maton are still going strong, still kicking out some of the best guitars in the world. Patriotism is a funny thing, it doesn't stand up to any rational scrutiny. What the hell do I know about, or contribute to, when it comes to making these guitars? Yet I still feel 'proud' that there are Aussies getting out of bed every morning and going to work on these amazing instruments. We all do our bit in our own fields I guess, and feel pride in others from our country who do it exceptionally well.
Patriotism and buying local stands up when you consider many guitars are made in countries by workers not afforded the pay and conditions workers in Australia get. There's also history and culture in supporting local brands like Maton
Being an Aussie, a Blackwood guitar is a must have. Maton acoustic or little crow electric? Both
Are there any Blackwood electric guitar examples out three?
@@jojo5544 little crow make electric only
LOVE that Flat 1st tone!!!
Aussie Aussie Aussie!
Oy oy oy!
I want it!
Maton makes some awesome acoustic guitars! Hard to go wrong on the same guitar that Tommy Emmanuel has been playing all these years.😁 Sounds fantastic!😉👍
I’ve always wondered if they didn’t have a massive sponsorship deal, would he be still playing a Maton, ?
there are some very good quality guitars available that have a better sound than a Maton , I was looking at buying a EGB808TE , so I asked around, people that have owned them , one of Sydney’s leading luthiers, and what I heard myself , and decided on a Gibson, lol
@@peterbrown7913 Maton, especially the cheaper models, aren't impressive acoustically. Not bad necessarily but definitly quiet and lacking bass, with a bit of a boxy sound. But amplified they always work and they sound great. If you don't play amplified atleast 75% of the time, I'd also skip maton. I own a maton messiah btw. I also own a furch red and acoustically it's louder and warmer but amplified it just doesn't come close.
This guitar sounds awesome. I’m really considering the SRS808 however!
Have my headphones on.. Impressive sound! That case only hides it.
Right On!!
Costing more than my house is worth, that guitar would likely make me sound a full 10% better. Keep up the good work, Justin. Peace.
Great review! Beautiful guitar! I sure love listening to you play!
Maton guitars are a fucking joy to play. They don;t have that low end like Martins do, but they have some super sweet highs dude. I got a solid spruce top queensland maple neck and body. Same case and all. This one sounds sweet as.
Yep droolin Its everything I ever dreamt of in a guitar. Thanks for sharing
You have the greatest job man!
Now, THAT is a beautiful guitar 🎸.
NOBODY does guitar reviews like this dude!
Oh man, I love it, it's freaking awesome...🎸👌
Vibes.
Just an autograph to top it off and send it my way!
I am waiting for Maton to bring out the "Justin Johnson" edition
.......sounds like a full country sound guitar backed with the saddle stitching on the borders......well done Maton.
WHAT A GUITAR MAN! You deserve!!!!
Even your sound checks are like listening to a full on concert.
Amazing sound
That thing sings... Love the cutaway and tonal balance. “Never played an all Blackwood guitar”; just a gas can, a shovel, and a rattle snake tied to a fence post. 😂.
wow.. shot out of a cannon tone nails it. Very impressive..
Great review honest and fair
My Daughter has a Maton. Tommy Emmanuel plays one .Cheers from Australia
You got a great speaking voice,Nice unboxin,
Great information
Mr. Justin Johnson, I believe you could play a Cast Iron Frying pan guitar and make it sound GOOD!!!
I'm still saving up for my Maton one day
