I loved to hear this song back in the day when they used to play it when radio stations used to have The Quiet Storm after 10:00 p.m. after listen to all the top 10 and top 40 hits during the day of R&B it was so nice to slow it down after 10:00 p.m. and listen to real R&B. The male singer on the track is actually legendary duets singer James Ingram. But I guess they could not get him for the video, so they went with showing Mr piano stud from behind there. Jasmine Guy's CD was really solid. Lots of New Jack Swing dance tracks, but this and one other excellent ballad, "I wish you well" which had Different World co-star Cree Summers on backing vocals.
I think alot of people were shocked when Jasince cd came out and Vanessa williams. Theyre albums were good. Not just one single. Like whole album good.
And how did a multi talent like this NOT become a mega star? Either the music industry was ultimately dirty in the worst, or it was hard to market her because the role of Whitley Gilbert was so strong that the audiences couldn't see her as anyone else BUT Whitley....
Just finished watching her Unsung Hollywood. They kept showing clips of the song Try Me. I was waiting for them to show this but they didn't so I had to come here and listen to it . This was the HUGE HIT where I'm at. Try Me was cool but this is what we loved in my neck of the woods.

I auditioned for a dance spot on the Hit television show "Fame" at the same time Jasmine did at the very beginning of her career BEFORE she got famous! These were uncredited positions but you got seen and therefore taken serious in the business! We both made it however I was very young and needed one of my parents or a trusted chaperoned and couldn't get one so I didn't get to appear on the show. If you ever watch Fame with Debbie Allen teaching Dance Class and the kids she was teaching in the background?.... You'll find Jasmine guy in one of the positions. I was supposed to be at her right but..... I'm in my 50's now but will never get over not being on that show.... PS.... Jasmine was so fine and she smelled really good too! LOL!
