What a beautiful family, May God Bless the parents, in reading the comments I realize Maizie has passed. I understand some of the things this family has gone thru. My son was 17 when he was diagnosed with Leigh Syndrome. My son is now 33. It is a difficult journey but I believe parents with children with lifelong diseases are chosen for this. M

I thought they lived in Toronto, Canada and that all medical healthcare is free. But from the way the mother speaks about the medical expenses I am surprised.

We live in Moncton New Brunswick. Being seen by a doctor is free (we pay though federal taxes) however all of the other expenses are not (ie; medical equipment, support care worker, medical trips, certain medications that are not covered, transport, parking ect)

@@amandashea1176 Wow thanks for explaining all of that. I just thought that you can just decide you want to go to the doctor and just go! And get everything from A to Z just because everything is FREE FREE FREE!!!

The mum said they flew home in a private jet because of the plastic tunnel (missile). Private jets cost $100, 000 - $300, 000 (hundreds of THOUSANDS $$) per trip. That’s outrageous. I’m certainly grateful to Canada for providing opportunity to save a human life, if the parents (&/or family & friends) are able, willing & capable to work at it. I wouldn’t want any parent to be refused medical service especially the way they refused my sick newborn child in 2002.
