  • In 2018 when I paddled the St. John River with Gracie, we came across the old cabin at Flaws Bogan. An old Maine Forest Service cabin from the 1930's/40's. It was in rough shape and in need of maintenance so after completing the river trip I contacted North Maine Woods. The director agreed to hire me to make the repairs necessary to preserve the cabin. In this video I return to chink the exterior of the cabin. #logcabin #offgrid #cabinbuilding
This cabin is an official North Maine Woods campsite and is open to the public on a first come first served basis.

Triple Amazing video! Love the part where Gracie found her pretty stick from the water, rushing to see you (LOL) and got caught in the rope with which the canoe was tied. She tripped but walked like a pretty little lady that she is. As always the memory verse from John 21:25, whenever I came across this verse "I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen" makes me wonderstruck how much Jesus must have done in the 33 and a half years when He was in this world. Thank you for this wonderful video. Now I am waiting in line for the next one.

Here in Guam bugs of all sorts and plenty of mosquitos.....outside for any length of time, most will keep a smokey fire going which repels most bugs. The best to burn here for that is coconut husks. So most have huge piles outside ready.

I love seeing how you prepare for just about everything you possibly can! And love the bug free tent for you and Gracie to be in outside…my dog would rather be outdoors than in….unless thunderstorms going on then he wanted to hide behind me or in a tent inside the house I would build for him. Much to my sorrow and heartache my doggy passed away after having a stroke Feb 2022….a short time after my husband had back to back heart attacks. Your videos along with Gracie bring me much happiness and joy…thank you. You have a beautiful place.

Gracie snores like Sadie used to!😊I think I would look for some camo fire plugs that smell like old boots or something.😂Great video. (Have you tried Nessmuk's bug repellent formula?). I can't get in any weeds here, much less the woods without permethrine. The turkey mites,(White spotted deer tick"babies"), are fierce here in Grayson county, Ky. I live in a 900 acre hunting reserve that is wonderful, but the first year renting the house here I had turkey mites from the side of my foot up to my right shoulder. Mr. Clorox bath and I became well acquainted!😵‍💫Thanks again to you and Gracie. Yours in Prayer, Rick Trumbo.

What's the outboard hp you're using?

As my wife and I watched, she mentioned 75 when she saw it. So a 7.5 hp would be my guess. Seems a bit high, but I don't know the length of his canoe and at times he does carry quite a load in it, so seems appropriate.

@@pinetree2473 It does seem high for a canoe, I had a 17' square stern with a 2.5hp. Worked great.

@@TheMaineWoods That's kind of funny. Years ago I had a 21.5 ft. center console with a 150 hp. outboard that I primarily used for scuba diving along the northern MA and NH coast.

There has got to be some all natural bug repellent you could use. I am thinking anyway. Hate to see you and Gracie in such a state of discomfort.
