What an incredible match... Contra's micro totally on point, relentless and with many good trades. And the unexpected end, dude. Words fail me..

What a game! Never expected that in the end. Zlo was substantially behind his opponent by resources for almost entire game

As always thank you for the great cast! I loved to see arm in a dominant position, seems like the tables are turning

One minute left. The whole base gets wiped. "Well, that's the gg for sure, why isn't he tapping out already?"

Hey guys I have a lot of experience in competitive gaming and about 50 h in BAR. I think that there is a lot of unused potential in the way BAR is currently played. I’d say if the game continues to grow over the next 5 years, these matches will almost seem like a joke to us then. To be more specific: There should be more purposeful ways to invest your resources. I feel like over investments happen very frequently. Over saturating an area with units means, that they become very vulnerable to aoe-damage. I often see big “monoculture” armies fighting in random locations which then result in reclaim fields that then have to be fought for again, but not really accomplishing anything. Apart from that, I also ask myself why the currently best players in BAR don’t seem to place a lot of value on sustainability. I mean why would you invest, if the chances of losing it before it pays off are very high?
I don’t claim to be a good BAR player but those are thoughts that I’m having.

I think this might be a good case of spectator omniscience. It is easy to see this and think about it while looking at replay, but player APM is limited and Contra has superb micro as it is. You can't just do everything perfectly, can't think and click fast enough.

As Laurl says, Its very easy as a spectator to underestimate the pressure of actually playing a game and making the correct decisions.
Its very easy from the spectator perspective to notice these situations and wonder why someone doesn't just send half a dozen tanks down the middle and wiping out massive eco, but it's difficult to spot these weaknesses (both lack of info and because of apm pressure).
I find BAR has this weird dynamic where you'd expect it to be quite snowbally from making +EV decisions, but AOE damage, the D-gun and leaving reclaim in defender-controlled territory can easily turn a decisive push into an inadvertant donation to your enemy if you don't play carefully - which is probably why pro players can be indecisive about finishing a game that looks over. Throwing a huge army into an enemy base and getting it Dgunned, or worn down and leaving a huge amount of metal to them can be worse than useless.
If you totally wipe the base this isn't a huge problem, but wiping half of it without a backup force to finish the job soon can put you in a bad spot.
