TEDxAmman - Hazem Malhas - Amman, the story of the old core of the city from 1860s till today

The story of a small valley in the central Jordan Plateau, a world heritage repository spanning 10,000 years of continuous human settlements, a water spring, with a creek heading east towards the desert, became part of ancient civilizations and trade routes and empires, then deserted completely. The focus is on how it was resurrected in the late 19th Century and is on the core of the old town, built on the ruins of old civilizations during the 20th Century, and a cry to protect the old/new core by a citizen of the city, a passionate lover of the city to protect its heritage built during the first 6 decades of the 20th century, and to use the Amman City Of Culture, 2013 as the cause to rally around, a call by a citizen and not an expert.
